    Token standards: ERC20 vs ERC721 vs ERC1155

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 10:08 PM PST

Ethereum token development is one of the prevalent development opportunities, which upholds the whole network and numerous interconnected projects running simultaneously. Ethereum-based tokens can represent the value and service, and innovative companies use these tokens as internal currencies to buy, sell, and trade within the ecosystem.

Now that Ethereum supports token development, its community also sets some standards to ensure that tokens created on Ethereum are compostable with various existing ecosystems and satisfy specific user requirements. You should know that Ethereum also allows users to create a fungible token without the need to abide by any ERC standard.

Vitalik Buterin explains High Gas Fees

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 03:33 PM PST

It’s time to stop using seed phrases. Do you agree?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 06:17 AM PST

I know, you are probably thinking, "What the f\ck are you talking about? How am I supposed to recover my non-custodial wallet without a seed phrase?"*

    Let me explain…

We all agree that getting a non-custodial wallet is the safest way to store cryptos. Not your keys, not your crypto, right?

What I totally disagree though, is using a seed phrase as the only means to recover our non-custodial wallets.

    The reason is simple.

People keep losing their seed phrase and getting scammed every day.

You might think, "It's their fault for being dumb. Not our business."

Well, this is not the case. It is absolutely our business.

If we really want cryptos to grow and be adopted by everyone, we need an easier way for people to own their digital assets.

Furthermore, while you might have not compromised your seed phrase yet, the risk of phishing and losing it is extremely high even for experienced users.

Vitalik Buterin himself wrote a piece on this, titled "Why we need wide adoption of social recovery wallets."

In it, he explains that we need a wallet that is easy to use and that has no single point of failure (there is no single thing that, if stolen, can give an attacker access to your funds, or if lost, can deny you access to your funds.)

At Linen Wallet, we've built exactly this type of non-custodial wallet. A wallet that is both safer and easier than standard self-custody wallets. Here's how it works:

    • No single point of failure: Using a smart contract, the wallet is secured with 3 keys, 2 of which are required to make a transaction. You lose one? You can still access your wallet. Someone steals one? They still can't access it.
    • Simple keys management: One key is stored in your cloud, one in your mobile device, and one in Linen's secure server infrastructure. (More options will be available in future versions)
    • No seed phrase: You can seamlessly recover your wallet using your cloud drive, email, and phone number.

We strongly believe that this setup is both safer and easier, allowing a greater adoption of cryptos. But I'd LOVE to hear from the crypto community and see if you value what we are doing. So please, ask me anything in the comment!

Process to unstake STeth from lido to eth

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 04:40 AM PST

    Hi,
I staked some Eth using the Leger Lido application, but I am not sure I did a good choice. So I would like to unstack them and get them back in ETH.

Can someone explain me the steps? I saw some other posts but did not find these steps.
I read about curve, but curve does not see the leger account with the STeth.
Do I need first SEND the STeth from the 'Lido Staked ETH' leger account to and Etherium leger account(can I move STeth to an ETH account?) and THEN swap them with curve?

Can i have eth and STeth in the same leger account?

    Thank you!

Replacing the margin loan with blockchain

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 06:33 PM PST

    Hi all

Are there any projects that are working on a replacement to a margin loan with cryptocurrency? For example a borrower who can use traditional stocks as collateral for a loan in crypto which is funded by other depositers of crypto (not a bank).

I understand you can use crypto as collateral now for a crypto loan.

If there are no projects like this - would this be something thats possible with a smart contract? Or is it difficult to do given stocks are not held on a blockchain?

    Thanks

Can a contract SIGN a transaction without an EOA?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 06:13 PM PST

I think is impossible but perhaps I'm missing something. Basically what I need is a contract that when a payment is received, it will sign a transaction with a key and give the signed transaction back to the user. I understand this is not possible because to sign the transaction you would need the private key.

This would change when/if ERC 4337 is merged.
