i figured out how to enable AMD compute mode on linux Posted: 25 Jun 2018 03:55 AM PDT and wrote a little php script to do it on all rx570/rx580 cards on the system: https://gist.github.com/divinity76/ef1e297fc4ec8d53f5d4d64aeac16e21 tested on ubuntu 18.04 server edition, with [link] [comments]
How to calculate CFM for a grow tent? Posted: 25 Jun 2018 03:15 AM PDT Hi everyone, I am planning to have 24 GPUs in a 47''x47''x78'', does anyone know how many CFM I need to keep the temperatures sub 70 celsius? Or how many times I need to renew the air every minute? I thought I read in this subreddit that renewing the air every minute would be enough, but I tried a 110CFM fan for the tent, and with only 8 GPUs the temps were crazy. I have seen some posts of rigs in tents here, but I haven't seen the math done to know the CFM needed. Thanks for your time! [link] [comments]
Ubuntu 18.04 login loop with 12 gpu set up Posted: 25 Jun 2018 12:59 AM PDT Hello all I'm using the gigabyte fintech b250 mining expert. Intel core duo 3.5 ghz 8 gb ram 250 gigabyte wd sata A bit of a noob when it comes to linux. I have a 12 GPU rig, all rx 580s and 1 570 (all 8 gb) Runs great with Windows . recently I tried switching to ubuntu 18.04 for lyra2z mining and its been a nightmare. I was able to do a headless amdgpu-pro (18.20) installation, while 6 of my cards were plugged in (what i did is i turned off my second psu) . when i restart with only 6 cards. I can log in. but when I restart and turn that second PSU back on, I get into the login loop. I tried Lubuntu and it went straight to the terminal. No desktop environment at all Any help would be appreciated! [link] [comments]
Preliminary Reports of Delosminer (x16s/x16r) Hacking Wallets Posted: 24 Jun 2018 09:15 AM PDT Going on for a few days now, there are multiple reports of Delosminer Nvidia miner transferring all funds out of people's wallets. Even after removing the miner, coins continue to get funneled. I'm seeing multiple coin communities reporting this issue. Unfortunately the best course of action is to transfer coins to a secure wallet and a clean install of OS to fully remove the hack. Reports are beginning to surface on their Bitcointalk as well: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4344544.0 [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2018 06:26 PM PDT Has anyone built any type of air filtration device/box to be used with a grow tent (pulling air from outside through duct, not the bottom flaps)? Right now I'm just pulling unfiltered air but with 500+cfm and a lot of pollen in the air that is probably not the best idea. I've done a fair bit of shopping for filtration ideas and basically the only feasible option is buy an inline filtration box and as far as those go, there aren't really any good options. Basically the two cheapest options are either spend $60 on a box that takes proprietary filters that are $10 each and cost ~$20 to ship, or spend $120 on a box that takes standard sized but expensive filters (18x18x4 iirc, $15-$20 each). The latter seems the best option (better flowing, longer lasting, and readily availible filters) but both are really more than I want to spend, especially given the state crypto is in now. Anyways, just wondering if anyone has rigged something up to filter the intake air. I saw on youtube someone just clamped a cut to fit filter over the end of the intake duct but that method is a pain in the ass, restrictive (at least chopping up a standard house filter is... a lot less filtration area, already have excess negative pressure), and would need frequent replacing. I was thinking about building some sort of wooden box to house a standard house air filter and cutting a hole in each side and mounting a flange with a male fitting for the duct on each side but am kind of stumped on how to make a removable top that seals for filter replacement with limited woodworking tools. Anyone have a solution? [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2018 08:24 AM PDT Hi guys, I bought a grow tent (120cmx120cmx200m or 47''x47''x78'') for my 8x RX580 rig, to try and control the heat, as it is summer here and the GPU heat output was starting to be noticeable. To remove the heat from the tent I bought the cheapest fan that I found on amazon, called Vents TT-100 TT (was about 30€), it's supposed to move up to 187m3/g (or 110CFM) without making much noise (36 dB). To get fresh air in, I opened the windows and the pipes on the bottom of the tent. The problem is that the GPUs keep getting hotter and hotter until some of them start shutting down (I got the temperature limit at 82 degrees using Claymore). Also, the ambient temperature around the tent is around 25 degrees, so it shouldn't be a problem. Do you guys have any input about what can I do to keep the temps down? Should I return this fan and buy a better one? Maybe I need an intake fan? Or the fan that I bought isn't delivering what it should? As I am not sure what to do, I will increase the speed of the rigs that are on the frame to 90%, and I've bought 2 more of the 187m3/h (or 110CFM), and I will use two for exhaust and one for intake. Any suggestions are appreciated, I will post a couple of pics of the setup later if needed. EDIT1: The math that I did is: The size of the tent is 1.2mx1.2mx2m=2.88m3 The fan is supposed to move 187m3/h So the air is renewed 187/2.88= 64.9 times each hour, which should be enough [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Jun 2018 04:13 AM PDT this is super weird, and took a long time to figure out (after first thinking it was everything else, risers, PSU, GPU, motherboard, ..) on this picture, the pci-e slots marked in green are always stable. the ones marked with red, are stable if the electricity was pulled prior to reboot, but if the electricity was not pulled out prior to reboot, then they have about a 50% chance of being stable/unstable. at first i thought it was a bad bios overclock, so i reverted to stock bios, then i replaced the risers, then i thought it was a bad PSU, replaced it, then maybe a bad motherboard, so i replaced it. but it is the exact same situation with the brand new motherboard/PSU/riser. the PSUs are super-high-end, 2x Corsair AX1600i, Corsair's flagship (best) 1600W 80+ Titanium PSUs. the motherboard is Asus B250 Mining Expert, updated to firmware version 1205. the risers are Dayspirit 009S (and i'm not using the sata->pci-e converters to power the riser, i'm using these pci-e splitter cables instead, but also tried with a different 008S riser model from a different manufacturer, didn't help), the GPUs are 10x different RX580's (2x Aorus RX580, 5x Asus Dual RX580 OC, 1x Asus ROG Strix RX580, 1x PowerColor Red Devil RX580, 1x Maxsun RX580, all 8GB GRAM models), anyone experienced anything like this? any idea what's happening?
