[2021-10-10] Proposed changes to Subreddit's description Posted: 10 Oct 2021 02:43 AM PDT I seek the community's opinion on following changes regarding sidebar description. I have applied the changes right now in a "demo / preview mode", if the community dislikes the change, they will be simply reverted. (Please actually write your opinions, just upvotes/downvotes do not count as an "opinion".) Changes are listed below. Please note that maximum length of new reddit's description is just 500 characters so I had to improvise a lot to make it fit: BEFORE----------------------------------- NEW REDDIT: ----------------------------------- When r/Bitcoin moderators began censoring content and banning users they disagreed with, r/btc became a community for free and open cryptocurrency discussion. If BCH claims to have lower fee, will it really be the case if its unit value increases Posted: 10 Oct 2021 09:48 PM PDT If we set the fee to 1 sat/b, we see that the fee in BTC and BCH are equal, but due to greater unit value of BTC, the fee is higher and probably more painful as it grows in value. Ignoring the fact that 1 sat/b gets you on the bottom of the mempool and can take about a day to confirm, will BCH be this cheap as it boasts to be a peer-to-peer cash? Will the BCH developer reduce the minimum fee in the future if the unit value of BCH goes up? (like options for 0.25 sat/b, etc for affordability). Also considering that such low fees would not affect confirmation ability, which I think it never does on BCH as it follows a First-Come-First-Serve mechanism. [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Oct 2021 01:33 AM PDT Recently there's been a spate of new, zero-effort accounts posting zero-effort comments in this sub. You'll see these accounts posting one-line comments that don't really make sense or say anything useful. When you inspect the account behind the posting you'll discover that they have essentially no posting history or have just a little history posting similarly off-topic, nonsense comments in some non-controversial subs like rcutekittenphotos. These accounts are probably bots harvesting karma. It costs nothing for them to post these comments which, if ignored, earn one karma each. once enough karma has been accumulated a human bot will take over and begin using the account for nefarious purposes. When you see these comments that don't make any sense in the context of the OP, be sure to downvote the comment and check the history of the commenter. If the history is suspicious, be sure to tag the account using RES. That way, one day, when a real human takes control of the account, you'll have a reminder that the original account was just a bot, and the account is a paid shill. [link] [comments]

Without Googling it what do you think money is and where does it come from? Posted: 10 Oct 2021 09:44 PM PDT In my day-to-day life I find almost no one can answer this question. Can you guys? I have a theory that people can't understand the need for Bitcoin (Cash) because they don't even understand what money is. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Oct 2021 03:22 AM PDT It always begins with the 5 following "arguments": "Bitcoin is a store of value" "Bitcoin is decentralized and censorship resistant" "Bitcoin can be used by everyone" "Bitcoin (and maybe ethereum) are cryptos the rest are alt coins" "This/the other alt coin are shitcoins and just memes for staking" They ignore reality completely, how can a store of "wealth" or "value" go from 50k in price to 30k then return to 40k, they claim "it's only ups and downs you get used to them" but that's now how economy works. I think they fail to realize that an economy can't be depended on a bull/bear market and it requires functionality. The decentralized and "censorship" resistant is a huge joke, I don't even know where to start from. Even china banning crypto wasn't enough to convince them that bitcoin is in fact CENTRALIZED, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Bitcoin can't be used by everyone, nothing with such high fees can, even salvador is trying to find an excuse for "where the fees" are going to". How is a middle class or lower class person is supposed to use a crypto that costs 10 usd just to use? In some countries that's the hourly wage, it's literally doomed to fail unless bitcoin does something. (Like BCH does) They claim that bitcoin and ethereum are on the same page, but that's not true at all. From a developer's perspective vitalik and his team has been advancing towards solutions that bitcoin clearly doesn't even care about, the lighting network keeps showing more and more problems. Their entire system is frail, erratic, and unrealiable. Yet despite all these red flags, the huge scandals officials of bitcoin core and bitcoin tribals, because they're not communities they are tribals. People continue devoting themselves to an ideology that's practically a marketing agenda, while also extending their brainwash to hopeful ambitious people who think "they will make bank" with bitcoin. That alt coin - shit coin term is the most deadly propaganda I ever seen in tech. You devalue technology that's more advanced than yours, you shadow over it with your presence, you make it depended on you, and you convince people who use that technology that's "inherently inferior' just by the name you provide it. "alt or shit coin" I'm starting to see that's not just r/bitcoin and bitcoin.core that's a huge brainwashing scheme. But the entire sphere of bitcoin its self. This seriously needs to be addressed more because as bad as it is, they are on the top of crypto in market cap, they give a HORRIBLE example about the potential of cryptocurrencies. And they should be called out for what they are. That's all from me, if you want to buy bitcoin and "hodl" it thinking it will benefit you do so it's your wealth and you should had the right to do what you want with it. But call it what it is, call it a stock. Call it a gamble. Call it a scheme. Call it an "investment". Calling it a "store of value" is ridiculous. Edit: Some people ask how "china's ban has of cryptos has anything to do with bitcoin's centralization" Some minor research: Mind you, the code of bitcoin is vastly depended on the hands of a group of people (bitcoin.core) and they been caught lying about it a lot, both its white paper and also its function or even half-truth telling/ cherry picking when they were questioned formally about it. (As a user here mentioned in detail) In regards to whether the real centralization of bitcoin is depended on governments in this case china or bitcoin.core its self. Have you guys thought that maybe bitcoin.core gets threatened or bribed by governments to act the way they do? Does that sound like such an unbelievable conspiracist theory to you? Plus, china is a bad example, I should had brought el salvador's centralization, in china the effects of the centralization were just more severe. [link] [comments]
BTC pumped last week WITHOUT Tether Printing - Possible Cause Posted: 10 Oct 2021 09:19 PM PDT The Tether marketcap is holding steady around $69 billion for the past month, this is very unusual. Also, BTC price pumped 30% during the past week WITHOUT and Tether printing, again this is very unusual. Since China is cracking down on crypto and thus Tether held in China, it's entirely possible that the $1.6 billion of BTC purchases on Binance last week was Chinese USDT bagholders dumping their Tether. If Tether is truly intertwined with Chinese commercial paper, this could be the beginning of a Tether default. Also, sources in the USA report that Tether IS the subject of a criminal investigation. If and when that news drops, look for some very rapid price oscillations! [link] [comments]
