    GPU powering question!!! Need assistance

    I am currently running 4 RTX 3070's and 2 RTX 3060 tis. I am using 2 1200W server power supplies at 120V.

Because I am running out of PCIE connections on my breakout boards I have a question for the electric gurus of reddit/mining PRO's :P

    I am running the 3070's at 135W

I am running the 3060 tis at 130W

I am proposing to use a Y splitter for gpu's. Each gpu is powered by dual 8pins.

The image below is the dual 6+2pin to 6pin (female) **18AWG** connection. To plug into gpu.

    https://preview.redd.it/0wd2z84ow0l61.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d497c8a342a9558fae227902c8988a934d48fe4

This is the 6pin female connector coming from the dual 6+2pin Y splitter.

    https://preview.redd.it/3jadzavow0l61.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8531df3ddab20705d540418d91e04bf324f03246

And the 6pin to 6pin that will plug into the Y splitter and straight into into the server psu is a **16AWG** cable.

    https://preview.redd.it/igy25ctpw0l61.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45d5921065f17a3c846819484fd4ef14d044e0d4

I have searched and read google and seen people saying these are only rated for 75W all the way to 218W etc. Can anyone give me any advice on whether this is safe to power my gpu's? Thoughts and help is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions and need some more explanation I will be glad to try and answer for you.

    Thanks.

    Optimizing my 1x1060 6gb MH/s (currently stuck at 20 MH/s)

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 04:25 AM PST

Sorry if this is posted often but I can't seem to find how to optimize my mining any further. I'm using my gaming computer for mining etherium using NiceHash.

    OS: Windows 10

    GPU: 1060 6gb

    CPU: Ryzen 3 2200g

    SSD: 256 gb

    PSU: Corsair 650 watt

    RAM: 8 gb

    Motherboard: Asus b450m-k

    Current MSI afterburner settings: https://imgur.com/a/21pEIrV

I've tinkered with MSI afterburner and have gotten to around 20 MH/s - 20.5 MH/s while other people have gotten 24 - 27 MH/s. I would appreciate any help I can get with this since I've tried changing my settings but they never go over 20.5 MH/s and usually just go down to 18-19 MH/s

    SMOS-Linux vs SimpleMining

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 06:42 AM PST

Hey guys, as the title already explains I wanted to ask if anyone here as experience with both OS. I know that they are basically the same but there is a big pricing difference when you run more than one rig:

    • SMOS-Linux: 1 rig free and every other rig for $1
    • SimpleMining: $2 for each rig

Doesn't sound like much but when you run 10 rigs all the time it sums up lol. So is there any difference except the UI between those that that kind of justifies the higher prices for SimpleMining?

How am I using so much power?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 07:29 AM PST

I've just started out mining and got a couple of second-hand RX 470s just to try it out to see how I get on. I am having a lot of fun so far but I seem to be using a lot more power than I was expecting. I'm completely new to overclocking and undervolting so maybe I'm doing something wrong there. I managed to Bios mod the cards, increasing the hash rate from 24MH to 29MH per card which I'm fairly happy with. Whattomine suggests I could be using close to 70W for an RX 470 but on Hive OS it says it is using 100W per card. I have a power monitor that says I am using 370W total with the two cards. What could be causing this? I'll include my overclock setting from Hive OS

Coreclock 1150 Memory clock 2000 Fan speed 50%

I'm not sure what to do with undervolting, but I think that could have something to do with it how much power I am using. Any help on this front would be greatly appreciated.

    Heres my hardware:

ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ motherboard with a Celeron G3930 processor.

    EVGA 850G5 PSU

Two RX 470 GPUs with one riser.

Also 16GB ran and 120GB SSD.

    MinerOs vs windows

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 06:09 AM PST

Will using MinerOs and booting from USB make much difference compared to wining on Phoenix using windows10? FYI I have to plug my monitor into my GPU as CPU doesn't have onboard graphics. Mining about 28-29mhz currently using Phoenix and sparkpool.

Does RX 580 4Gb with modified firmware will work for mining Ravecoin?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 03:14 AM PST

Hello amazing community! I'm pretty new in mining and actively trying to become one of you! I found a good local deal for 8x RX580 4Gb cards and wanted to try them in mining ravecoin. Few years ago they was mining etherium and previous owner told me that he has been modified firmware on those cards but he don't remember what exactly was flashed...

So before giving a shot and buy those cards I'm curious if it modified firmware can have some impact for mining ravecoin?

    F2pool Help Please

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:41 AM PST

Ran flexpool for a couple of weeks and now switched to F2Pool as I want to compare earnings, as I'm only a small time miner and more interested in consistency than luck.

I have an f2pool account and if I use their 'read only' UI on the app by entering my wallet address I can see that my rig is confirmed as mining and the hashrate etc.

BUT for the life of me I cannot get their main website (when I sign into my account) to recognise my miner and I'm a little confused by their advice around config. I'm mining using phoenixminer on HiveOS.

Anyone had similar and can offer some help please?

Also I take it that even if their website doesn't 'see' the miner the fact that my read only access confirms hashrate, shares and earnings means that its working correctly.

    TIA.

    Server PSU cables?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:49 PM PST

I'm about to snag a 1200w server psu and breakout board from parallel miners, but they're sold out of pcie cables. Any suggestions for where I can get good pcie cables, splitters, and extensions? Need the 400w kind for running one gpu+riser per cable. Also, has anyone had issues using the "one card per cable" method? Highest tdp card will be a 3080 pulling 215 watts

Anyone Happen to Know What Size Thermal Pads are on Gigabyte RTX 3090 Blower?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:05 PM PST

I just recently made an upgrade to my mining rig with two new rtx 3090s. The cheapest ones I could get my hands on were blower style Gigabyte cards. I just want to know that the height of the thermal pads. One of them is delivering a nice 120 mh/s, but the other one is throttling all the way back to 80-95 mh/s and I'm going to replace the thermal pads.

    Easiest to mine altcoins?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 01:05 AM PST

Does anyone know of any extremely easy coins to mine that reward a lot of coins?

It does not have to be profitable, it can be even a loss - I'm looking for something like dogecoin, where you can literally mine a load of it.

I have some spare hardware and relatively cheap electricity, I'm looking to mine a lot and then just hodl for a decade or two.
