RUMOR: Zerohedge is calling the surprise: Facebook

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 05:18 AM PST

Charlie Lee: "I’m not quitting Litecoin." "I will still spend all my time working on Litecoin. When Litecoin succeeds, I will still be rewarded in lots of different ways, just not directly via ownership of coins. I now believe this is the best way for me to continue to oversee Litecoin’s growth."

Seems to me like the guy just wanted to appear unbiased in his opinions and representations of the company. This seems highly important to him given his past statements. I now just see his selling as an integrity move and I'm HODL'n on!

Adding LTC to my company's E-Commerce payment options?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 10:11 AM PST

    Hi all,

The company I work for is re-designing its website with an option for e-commerce. We are a pretty big drinks brand that is present in pretty much all supermarkets as well as a lot of pubs and bars in the UK.

I am in a position where I could potentially influence the inclusion of LTC as one of the payment methods on the site which get LTC some very decent PR in the drinks/hospitality industry press.

What is the best method/way of going about this in terms of functionality?

EDIT: I should stress I am marketing, not a developer, hence why I know about the PR reach and not about any functionality whatsoever.

Update to my Story and why I'm 100% in Litecoin (again)

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 08:07 AM PST

This is a crosspost from the Litecoin sub, but I wanted to share my story here too.

A while ago I made this post introducing myself. I used to be an active user. A couple months ago, someone got triggered and doxxed me and I deleted my account.

First off, this sub needs a "Meme", "Satire", and "Serious" tag because a lot of people have taken my most recent posts at face value when it's meant to be a joke or satirical. This should be marked "Serious-ish" I treat crypto to crypto like politics with family. We bash each other and can throw out speculation, but at the end of the day, we're all in this together and have no idea what's going to happen.

Over the past 6 months, I have been bouncing back and forth between bitcoin and Litecoin only as those are the only two coins I am willing to invest into. In doing so, I've made enough to pay off my college loans and then some. For the first time in my life I am debt free. For this, I owe my deepest gratitude to /u/coblee, /u/losh11, and all past and present developers of litecoin. I also want to send a shout out to /u/ecurrencyhodler for all the hard work and progress I've seen him make over the past 6 months.

Everyone knows the recent tweet that Charlie donated all of his coins. This is the single reason I'm 100% in Litecoin and 100% confident in Litecoin's future. Do you really THIS HUG LOVING MAN is going to run off with billions of dollars? You're out of your GOT DAMN MIND. Litecoin is his baby. He feels the weight of a $20B market on his shoulders and doesn't want to let anyone down. Yes he needs to work on his public speaking, but he's a tech guy. How many of you got sweaty feet during speech class and stuttered your way through a speech? Imagine being on Network TV for the first time, not knowing what to expect, not being able to see the pundits, not knowing when to speak, trying to calculate the delay, etc. I have faith he'll gain the confidence.

Now, I made this meme yesterday and a lot of people were like. HERP A DERP DOES THAT MEAN WE SHOULD ALL FOLLOW CHARLIE AND SELL OUR COINS LOLOOLOL HAHA GOT U.

Actually, yes. Litecoin has grown a shit ton in the past year. A lot of people have made a shit ton of money. I have equity for the first time in my life. To all you new hodlers, by all means keep hodling. But I've been holding onto coins from $15-$30. I came from a very humble background and was beginning to forget my roots. I didn't get to where I am by myself and so I am following Charlie Lee and donating some of my coins to causes that helped me get to where I am today. I don't care how/where Charlie donated or even if he actually did. I believe and trust him and want to follow his lead.

Sadly, I will have to convert to fiat to do this, but I look forward to a future where I can use Litecoin to set up scholarships. I will send proof to the mods when I make my donations and document it. Here is a list of donations I will make and I will let them all know it's because of Litecoin. I've donated to Litecoin Foundation before and will in the future, but I have to take care of some peeps before.

    • I went to a small regional university campus in finance. To secure a job, we have to take credentialing exams before we graduate. You take 2-4 before you graduate and they range from $200-$450 per exam. Our school had a program that if you pass, you get reimbursed. I am going to donate to pay for every student's exam for a year. If Litecoin keeps up the progress, I'll make it an annual thing. I will also donate any study materials the students may need. I will work with professors and set stipulations to the donation (Have to have at least a B in the relevant class etc)

    • While in school, I volunteered for a local after school mathematics program for inner city children. While the kids were pains in the asses a lot of time, I loved seeing them get excited about mathematics and finance. Even taught some 3rd graders how to create budgets on Excel and they went home and taught their parents! I'm definitely going to donate to them in whichever way they believe the funds should be distributed. Hell, I may even stop by and tell them about the mysteries of the blockcain.

    • This one is a little selfish, but I took my friends to see Hamilton. Growing up, I moved around a lot, so didn't have many long term friendships. That changed over the past 7 years. I have a great group of friends that have been there for me through all the rough times. This is my way of saying, even if by some strike of luck I make it big, I'm not leaving them behind.

    • Lastly (for now), I grew up with an alcoholic father and ultimately that's what lead to his death. In the midwest, there's a stigma that if you go to therapy, there's something fucked up with you. When I first went, it was almost cathartic. I didn't realize how textbook my issues were. How when you bottle up emotions, they come out as anger, hate, anxiety. I am going to donate to local university's psychology department that provides free counseling.

As I said, I will send proof to the mods as I knock some things off my list and create updates. Sorry for the sappy tangential explanations, but I am truly humbled by this year. This is one of the rare serious posts I'll make. Don't take my other posts/comments at face value, I love giving people shit sometimes. No bamboozles or I'll eat my dick on live TV with a California reaper pepper (What happened to that guy that promised to eat one?). I also urge other large bag holders to do the same. Litecoin is truly the coin of the people and we can make a difference in our communities with it. Also, don't ask for Litecoin donations or how much Litecoin I own because I'm not giving you fuckers any money or telling you how much I have. I'm not masterbater777.

    Put your money up

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 08:12 AM PST

I see a lot of talk from people here speaking about how they want to increase litecoin's exposure and get more businesses to accept it.

Espousing the aforementioned thoughts in this forum epitomizes the phrase 'preaching to the choir'. We do not need to be large corporations to make ad buys, our voices are stronger today, than any other time in history!

Get on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and purchase twenty dollars in ads on those platforms. We can spread the word of the litecoin further than you think!

We have a community of hundreds of thousands, but it can be millions. The price hovers around 300, let's expedite the march to 3000! Take 1/3 of the effort you expend on this forum, and triple it where it matters. Give 100% to the future of this coin, for some that increases the prosperity in your own future.

Let's go people, let us be proactive! Let us be the leading charge for prosperity and continued growth!!

To all those with transactions not being completed

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 07:59 AM PST

When Litecoin has bursts of transaction activity, and a gap between blocks larger than 5 minutes, old/low-fee transactions are being discarded by the nodes. I'm trying to raise this issue. It's affecting low-fee transactions made during high transaction loads, so it is not a consistent problem, but when it affects you, your transaction is being discarded by the network after being accepted by it. Nodes with 5MB mempool's are hampering the network during high load, and anyone running a full LTC node needs to please increase their maxmempool setting if it's currently at 5MB.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/7l43jf/we_are_under_attack/ https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/7l48np/full_node_ownersmining_pools_increase_you_mempool/ https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/7l5q1n/litecoins_high_transaction_fees_unconfirmed/

If you look at these unconfirmed transaction lists, the number of transactions differ because they have different sets of unconfirmed transactions, and they are not being seen by the miners since the intermediate nodes are dropping them.

    https://chain.so/LTC https://bchain.info/LTC/

I'm an LTC fan like everyone here, but this is a problem that needs to be raised to the network at large if we're going to uphold claims of having higher TPS capacity.

Thrilled I managed to recover some old Litecoin

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 07:18 AM PST

I mined LTC back in 2013, didn't really know what I was doing but figured it was worth a try. After a couple months, the hard-drive eventually broke and kept blue-screening on startup.. this was about the same time LTC was beginning to really decline in price so I stopped mining and stuck the HDD in a drawer.

I see 4 years later the price has skyrocketed..I remember my old HDD. In some panic'd research I find out you can still recover things from HDDs that don't startup - so I bought This not really expecting to get them back but I had to try. To my surprise it actually worked. I dragged my old wallet.dat (104kb) from Users/Roaming/AppData to my new PC, downloaded the new version of the wallet and after updating I now have 8.5 LTC. I never encrypted the wallet so I didn't even need a passphrase. This is not an AD of any kind, but if anyone finds themselves in a similar boat this might help out.

    Not worth it

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 11:18 AM PST

Do not try to inform people over 60 years old about crypto.

Just wasted an hour on someone. He kept coming back to "tulips".

Didn't care about the technology aspect whatsoever.

I'm done trying to teach people with grey hair.
