    Is it better to buy altcoins with bitcoin or USD?

    Fairly new to trading crypto. If the price of bitcoin is so volatile, wouldn't it be a better long-term investement to buy altcoins with USD if you plan to hold them for a long time (and the altcoin can be traded for USD)?

    If I bought an altcoin with BTC, then the price of BTC were to go up really high, im unsure as to whether that would be good or bad for me.

    Help a newbie out and try not to roast too hard
