    Current status?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 01:27 AM PST

    Hi,

I was away from crypto for the last several years, when I left /r/Bitcoin was censored to hell, BCH and ETH was promising and Bitcoin XT was a thing.

Can someone summarize me what is the current state of the crypto world, what have I missed?

    Thanks!

Seems like it's all fake dollars driving this Bitcoin rally. The amount of real US dollars is way lower than back in 2017.

Are low fees necessary for divisibility?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2021 06:07 PM PST

I recently went through a post on r/Bitcoin about the beauty of BTCs divisibility, and how it can be broken into so many satoshis.

However, isn't it necessary to have low fees in order to utilize divisibility? What use is dividing 1 BTC into 10,000 satoshi if it takes a minimum of 100 satoshi (for example) to complete a transaction within any semblance of a reasonable timeframe?

Am missing the picture here? The "transaction" cost (physical energy) of dividing a physical penny into sub-pennies would negate the benefits of handing out 10 sub-pennies to anyone, especially if the only way to transact with the "sub-penny" would be to combine it into a usefully accepted whole coin.

While BCH may have gotten more attention this year from internal struggles, there were numerous successes in adoption, privacy, events, and development!

    Well, isn't this quite interesting...?

Mere weeks before Tether has to submit their docs to the NYAG, BTC has started going parabolic. All of this despite the fact that nobody I know is talking about or interested in Bitcoin. There isn't the same hype as there was in 2017, and the Tether printer is going off the rails. In 2020 alone, the number of Tethers in circulation have increased 5 times over. People are arguing that this is an institutional-run rally, but I can't imagine institutions putting/depositing money in a stablecoin that has previously had banking issues, and in their own terms and conditions has stated that they have no financial obligation to actually redeem the Tethers back for real money. Also, two weeks before they have to submit their docs, they are sending tweets trying to convince people that Tether is legitimate, and 100% backed... Who are they trying to convince? This certainly doesn't paint a good picture...

With Jihan's departure, does anyone know the current holdings and intentions of Bitmain and Jihan when it comes to BCH?

I gather they would have been selling over the last couple of years with the drama in the company too, is that info available somewhere?

    Bitcoin Cash Projects

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:10 AM PST

As posted previously https://old.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/jb130f/so_many_amazing_bitcoin_cash_projects/ there's a list of projects on bitcoin.com which could be handy for promoting BCH but as mentioned in that thread it needs updating. Are there any other such lists?
