Posted: 11 Jan 2018 06:36 AM PST Hello. I know that most people are running their gpu at about 60 or 70% power because of some constraint, heat being one. I just got a 1070ti Hybrid. This beat can mine 100% gpu below 45c. Is it still better advise to keep it 70%? [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 04:03 AM PST Open air rigs are obviously great for airflow, but dust is its biggest counterpart. I was wondering if anyone here have any dust filters/covers in use and what the effect is. Edit: For clarifications sake, I'm looking for ways to prevent dust from getting to the components in the first place, cleaning them is another discussion where the answer is compressed air. Should I still use my lga 1150 cpu and ddr3 ram for gpu mining? Posted: 11 Jan 2018 06:47 AM PST So i was thinking of getting into gpu minimg and i have a spare i5 lga 1150 cpu lying around and 8gb of ddr3. Should i upgrade to new socket and ddr4? id like to save some money, but also would like to have the best performance. All i have to do is buy a btc lga 1150 board, but dont know if it will become outdated. Looking to sport my rig with the new 1100 series. I know the cpu and ram dont really matter when it comes to mining, but just curious. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 06:44 AM PST Disregard the pricing for both. Just from a mining performance standpoint, which card is better, and why? Algo shouldn't matter as they are the same card, but if I need to choose say Equihash, Neoscrypt, and Lyra2RE2. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 06:26 AM PST I'm trying to decide between 2 available cards to start mining with NVIDIA Gigabyte Ultra Durable VGA GV-N1060G1 GAMING-3D (rev. 2.0) GeForce GTX 1060 Graphic Card - 1.62 GHz Core - 1.85 GHz Boost for $225 vs. nvidia p104-100. (price not sure yet). It's so hard to find apples to apples comparison online. Any thoughts? Thanks [link] [comments]
I know we aren’t supposed to power risers with S a t a, but how are we supposed to? Posted: 10 Jan 2018 10:35 PM PST The risers I ordered come with 6 pin to s a t a adapters, Do I ditch those cords and just go straight from psu to 6 pin? Or to save 6pin spots on my PSU what's a safe way to wire them up? I'm powering 1070's and realllly don't wanna burn my house down hahaha [link] [comments]
Is this safe for long-term use? Posted: 11 Jan 2018 08:13 AM PST I'm in the process of building my first GPU mining rig (picked up 7 HD 7950s to use since they're unaffected by the pricing hikes and should return their value pretty quickly (and I'm a college student without a ton of money to drop on a rig). I'm going to be buying the standard Kill A Watt meter to determine whether I can support another GPU off of my 2 1000W PSUs. However, I also bought a surge protector which only requires one outlet to run off of. My question is, if I plug the surge protector into the watt meter and left it running like that for the forseeable future, would there be any short/long-term reprocussions to that? Posted: 11 Jan 2018 07:34 AM PST Do you ever tell yourself to stop buying GPUs but you keep doing it? I just found another RX 570 8GB on Amazon and ordered it. I am now up to 9 GPUs (between two rigs). I think I need to stop and seeing $3k in the hole until I get ROI makes me hate myself. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 07:28 AM PST I got my first rig up today and have tested both windows and Linux and seem a bit lost. Windows starts lagging when I have 6 GPUs connected to it. However it has better driver support, and I can flash the bios with ease. It also supports better mining software and profit switching. Linux is incredibly stable with many GPUs but installing AMD drivers screws up lightdm. Add to that that my hashrates are worse in linux (stock) and I don't even know how to change the bios with Linux. Any help on how to make Linux more manageable? [link] [comments]
Mining PC keeps freezing. Can you GPU mining wizards help me get back up and running? Posted: 11 Jan 2018 07:17 AM PST So my computer with the RX580 that I'm using to learn how to mine has started to act up. About 2 weeks ago it would give me a green screen after returning to the PC after a few hours. First I thought this meant that something went horribly wrong so I would hard reboot. Later I figured out that if I would pull out the HDMI connector and reconnect everything was still running fine. Now, the whole thing just freezes up on me. I suspect a Windows update but I'm not positive. I've already done a full reinstall of Windows with no luck. One thing that has helped stability is increasing virtual memory. I also added 2 32GB USBs for dedicated Readyboost. My computer has 8gb of DRAM. But it's still freezing on me after about 10-15 minutes of use. Or faster if I'm trying to Benchmark with MultipoolMiner. Do think I have a hardware issue? Software? Is it possible I damaged the GPU or CPU mining and this what I'm experiencing? Reddcoin tips to any one who can help! [link] [comments]

1070 Mining Rig Question - one is about 20% slower than the other cards (no OCing on any of them) Posted: 11 Jan 2018 06:57 AM PST Hi - I just set up a new mining rig... one of the 1070 (MSI Armor) cards is about 20% slower than the other cards in terms of it's hashrate speed (on pretty much all algos).... there is no overclocking changes on any of them. Is this common? Are there any potential fixes for this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 06:42 AM PST When I want to use a riser to connect a GPU, I connect the GPU and the PSU with the 8pin. The riser is connected to the PCIE slot per usb. How do I power the riser now? Directly from the PSU? Or through the MOBO? Im really confused. [link] [comments]
What miner and pools are everyone using? Posted: 11 Jan 2018 05:56 AM PST Hey everyone, I have been doing some research over the past couple of weeks trying to figure out which miner I should install once my rig is up and running this weekend and it seems like everyone is using different ones. So I thought I would post here and see what /r/gpuming uses. So which miner/pools do you use and why? EDIT: HW Requested Im building two rigs currently.
The reason Im splitting up the GPU's like that is due to power. I initially ordered 6 x 1070ti's along with 2 750w Plat PSU's but that order was cancelled by PNY because of stock issues and I have been unable to find any 1070tis since. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 05:41 AM PST Hello guys. So I'm trying to overclock my GPUs. When I placed the gpus first time I had 131 mh/s ( 4x RX 570, 1x RX 470 and 1x RX 580) and then I overclocked them following the tutorial on mining.help and now I got to 147 mh/s. From what I've seen other people manage to get even more mh/s so could someone please help me how to get the maximum hashrate? I'm mining with Simplemining OS claymore eth. Thanks. Is my rig safe? (Riser / Power Question) Posted: 10 Jan 2018 05:12 PM PST Currently running a 5x Vega56 build with my EVGA P2 1200W PSU which is performing absolutely fine, however I want to make sure they I have set up the hardware properly. (Don't want to burn the house down!) 1.) The GPUs are all (as of today) connected via 8-pin PCIE to 2x 6+2 PCIE, utilising 5 of the PCIE PSU slots. Is this okay? 2.) Because there are only 4x SATA slots on the back of the PSU, 2 of the ports on the PSU are powering 2x risers with the other 2 being used for the SSD and one solo card. I am extremely nervous about this as I read so much about the risk of things burning. Any feedback is extremely welcome! Link to image of back of PSU for reference PS. I am using 006C USB 3.0 Risers. cooling reference/blower 1070 cards Posted: 11 Jan 2018 04:54 AM PST Prior building this new rig, i was running 10 X 1070s with no issues [OCed]. Had no cooling issues. I have bought these 6 X evga 1070 reference/blower cards not realizing that it would be a problem in an open rig case. It is continuously heating up and dropping the hash rate. My other rigs are running at ~66c. BUt this rig is hitting ~78c what are your recommendations? [link] [comments] |
