    Need help recovering a transfer if possible.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 10:59 AM PST

    Reading alot of confusing information was hoping someone might be able to help.

    Logged in to Binance and got a pop up that money had to be transferred soon due to some change in U.S. law.. No Prob.

    I set a transfer from Binance to my Coinbase wallet using what I thought was Ethereum protocol.

    I waited an hour and saw that the transfer never hit my Coinbase wallet.

    Transaction shows completed.

    Sent support query to Binance who just repeated what I already Knew - Transaction completed.

    Sent support query to Coinbase. Their response was that the coin looks to have been sent using BBTC (Binance wrapped Bitcoin???)

    I assumed being a novice that I made a mistake on choosing transfer protocols and screwed up myself. I was about to write off this money as a learning opportunity. It wasn't a small amount.. but definately more than I want to kiss goodbye if there was any way to recover.

    After reading up a bit more I find out that Binance uses this protocol : ERC20-BBTC to transfer..

    Coinbase does not accept this as an acceptable protocol to transfer Ethereum.

    and apparently they do not explain it very well... What outside company can accept this coin protocol.

    It seems like Binance should not offer a transfer option that is so confusing and also not accepted outside their network. This seems pretty underhanded and needlessly confusing to "trick" novices like myself..

    TLDR;

    Transferred Coins in wrong protocol between Binance and Coinbase and they vanished forever.

    Any suggestions or help.. or just commiserate!
