    Windows VS Linus Hashrate

    Posted: 03 Jul 2018 01:45 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to mining, I'm gathering what I can find on the internet to start my 1st rig of at least 6 GPUs.

I came across some forums and articles saying Windows 10 is better than Linux like smOS/HiveOS/ethOS. I also came to some who are contradicting.

I want to know which 1 would be better to set, is there a difference in hash rate and efficiency/performance/undervolting?

Is 1 OS better when using AMD over Nvidia & vice-versa?

Thanks in advance for your input.

    Help resetting unstable clocks

    Posted: 03 Jul 2018 04:21 AM PDT

I have a gigabyte 290x that boots up with windows and can be seen in device manager however, after 10 mins or after opening up a program the whole system crashes. I think whats happenning is an overclock gone wrong and is stuck, as the GPU is always quite warm to the touch whenever i handle the card. however i cant figure out how to return the card to stock clocks as whenever i open up wattman for example the PC crashes.

Windows 10 (fresh install) 8 GB RAM.

P.S I've tried reinstallling OS and drivers, that doesnt seem to be the problem or help. (system's fine with my other cards). Also when plugging in the card to the monitor, it diplays veryy heavy artifacts which propels my theory even more.

Also this is a second hand part so i dont know what tools where used to overclock the card.

Some help due to biased information

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 03:00 PM PDT

    Hi,

I wan't to start mining, i think of a 6 gpu rig at first. I do have expensive electricity, it cost like 0,24€ here. But I am sure the crypto prices will increase dramatically in future, so it is worth it.

I thought about 6 rx580. I would get one new at around 270€, so overall this rig would cost me slightly above 2000€. I am looking for used hardware as well, Trying to reduce the cost.

What do you guys think? I'm trying to figure out if AMD or NVIDIA would be the better bet. If Nvidia, I read something about the 1070 should it be at least, but if so, i couldn't effort 6 of them directly. There are everywhere people mentioning that Nvidia GPU's will have a Hard time because of some asics coming out.

I Hope some of you can enlight me with missing information.

    Cheers

Graphics Card Suppliers to Cut Prices in July due to Crypto Market Slump, Sources Report

Quick question, windows 10 slow as hell?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 12:39 PM PDT

New build, Cpu is intel celeron 8GB RAM 6 gpus added, all recognised, current driver (AMD) installed h110-d3a MoBo

Afterburner takes 10+ minutes to load, freezes pretty much constantly Nicehash legacy wont benchmark the cards, everything gets "blocked from accessing" the graphics cards/adaptor

task manager says cpu's at 14% load, ram's at 2.4/8, everything else is 0

Identical rig is performing amazingly, been running for 48 hours while ive been trying to get this problem rig up and running. Ideas?
