"Bitcoin miners in China wield two-thirds of the network's processing power, and more than half of it is controlled by a single province [Sichuan]."

CZ comment: "Mining is highly encouraged in China now. They hope to control bitcoin by having all the miners in the country (ie, under their control)." https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1205178744287031296

So much for the "decentralized" narrative boys! 😂

Lisk lays off 21 of 53 employees

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 02:31 PM PST

Approximately 40% of the employees working on the Lisk project were laid off on December 9th. Additionally, the contracts of three employees who were yet to join were also terminated.

32 staff remain in the following departments:

    • 15 Development
    • 5 Research
    • 4 Operations
    • 4 Marketing
    • 2 Design
    • 2 Business Development

Max Kordek, Co-Founder of Lisk, stated the following on Lisk's Discord:

Today, at Lightcurve, we laid off 21 of our employees and terminated the contracts of three employees who were yet to join. This concludes the recent wave of terminations you may have observed. We are now ready to go completely dedicated into 2020 with a solid team of 31 individuals on the Lightcurve side. Our main focus was to retain our talents in the research, platform (backend development) and developer relations departments. While shrinking the size within user interfaces (frontend development), marketing, design and operations. The reasons were to decrease our burn rate which by a large degree consisted of human resources costs, and to decrease our operational overhead in order to become more agile again. We are looking forward to the next year. Some exciting things are coming.

    New: Telegram malware scanbot!

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:13 PM PST

The developer team at PolySwarm has been hard at work developing their blockchain-based threat detection marketplace. They just rolled out a new scanbot called @PolySwarmBot. This bot allows for Telegram members and groups to interact with the Polyswarm platform from within Telegram itself, via a simple-to-use bot.

As an individual, you can directly submit suspect material through a private message with the bot, and get useful details and warnings about the artifact. The Scanbot can also be added to groups, where it will actively scan and render verdicts on whether the materials being shared in the group are malicious. Once it is added to a group, the Scanbot will safeguard the chat by notifying members when something malicious has been detected and, with admin permissions, deleting the offending post. Otherwise, it will stay silent to avoid polluting the chat.

To try this yourself simply go on Telegram and perform a global search for @PolySwarmBot. From there you can simply share a file or link in a private chat with the scanbot. After a few seconds of scanning your entry, it will come back with a verdict stating if it's malicious.

The same process can take place in a group chat if anyone shares a link or file. If the bot is given admin privileges it will immediately remove that suspect file. Then you will receive a link directing you to Polyswarm Network with the scanned result.

Quant Network and SimbaChain partner to enable multi-chain Smart Contracts on a large scale. QNT

Quant Network and SimbaChain partner to enable multi-chain Smart Contracts on a large scale. QNT

A new partnership between Quant Network and SIMBA Chain, both leading innovators in blockchain technology, will make the deployment of smart contracts which use more than a single blockchain fast, easy and cost-effective for the first time.

Quant Network and SIMBA Chain have agreed to combine their unique blockchain-based technologies to eliminate a key barrier to the development and deployment of multi-chain smart contracts. By providing seamless deployment of all interoperable smart contracts based on blockchains supported by Overledger, the partnership removes the existing single-chain limitation, and opens the door to mass adoption of blockchain solutions.

SIMBA Chain's cloud-based, Smart Contract-as-a-service platform enables users, developers, government, and enterprises to quickly develop and deploy blockchain dapps for iOS, Android, and the web.

SIMBA Chain was established in 2017 as the result of a grant awarded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to the University of Notre Dame Center for Research Computing and ITAMCO to develop a secure, unhackable messaging and transaction platform for the U.S. military.
