Is Kraken Better Than Coinbase For Buying Bitcoin?

Not owning Bitcoin is in-and-of-itself an investment. It means investing completely in the closed-source financial system. The internet always beats intranets. Choose wisely.

Request: A podcast about Bitcoin development

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 03:04 AM PST

So I have a 1 hour daily commute which I usually use to listen to podcasts. It would be awesome if I could use that time to learn more about Bitcoin development.

Is there any podcast or audio only content about Bitcoin development that could help people who want to make the transition from regular Bitcoiners into developers?

I know that these issues are difficult to address in audio only but I guess that nothing is impossible...

It would be cool to listen to developers talking about the code structure, how things work on the technical side, how they go about proposing changes, how they got to contribute, what tools are they using, what skills are useful for someone starting out...

Thinking of selling? Don't! Here are some reasons to HODL:

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 07:37 AM PST

    • This day last year, BTC was worth just $3349. It is worth at least double that today at $7207.

    • Yearly low in 2018 was $3200. However bad you think 2018 went, that's an impressive jump from 2017's yearly low of $780.

    • Yearly low in 2019 is $3359 (so far). It's worth noting that this figure is from the beginning of January, where we were still recovering from 2018. We haven't dropped below $6900 since mid May 2019.

If you have any more to add, please comment below. I'm seeing a lot of negativity regarding current value and I just think there's so much to be positive about. Looking forward to 2020.

    recovering bitcoin from bip39 phrase

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 03:43 PM PST

Hi, I miswrote my 24-word bip39 phrase and thus have about ~250 candidate phrases that all pass checksum. I was wondering if there is an automated way (i can program it it doesn't exist) to recover my wallet.

    I'm using a nano ledger S. It is 24 words without any seed. I tried Ian's : https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

but am not sure what to search for.

One idea I was thinking is to go through all candidates, generate the master public key and check on blockchain.com to see if there are funds in that wallet. I already know how many bitcoin I have, so it should be easy to compare.

Please advise, and if I'm able to recover funds, I'll send a reward for your time and energy! thanks!

Fed to restart full-scale QE on potential year-end Repo turmoil – FT

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 09:20 PM PST

The Financial Times (FT) quotes the projections by the Credit Suisse analyst, Zoltan Pozsar, noting that the surge in overnight borrowing costs that occurred in the US financial system in September will return at the end of the year. And therefore, it will see the Fed return to full blown QE, Pozsar added. He said that Fed "tapered the balance sheet too much, too fast. The Fed needs to undo that."

German Solarisbank launches Bitcoin custody business The Berlin institute wants to be one of the first German banks to store crypto currencies.

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 07:19 AM PST

The new German Money Laundering Act, which regulates the safekeeping of crypto currencies in a legally secure manner, has barely come into force when interested banks venture out of cover.

The Berlin Solarisbank is one of the first German banks to take the offensive and planning to build up a cryptocurrency custody solution, as the Handelsblatt has learned in advance. The plans are to be officially announced on Wednesday.

The new money laundering law allows banks to offer and keep crypto currencies. From 2020, financial institutions will be able to offer their customers crypto currencies as well as traditional securities such as shares and bonds in legally secure online banking at the touch of a button.

For this purpose, Solarisbank has founded the subsidiary Solaris Digital Assets. In 2020, it will apply to the financial supervisory authority Bafin for one of the newly introduced crypto custody licenses and will then store Bitcoin and other virtual currencies on behalf of customers.
