    Foundations of Success

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 04:20 AM PDT

XRP's value is driven by its utility.

The UK Parliament recently released their findings about crypto via a subcommittee document; I break down their conclusions and share what I think this means for crypto and for XRP.

PNC Bank - one of the largest US Banks - joins RippleNet. SAP creates a POC mobile app that handles real-time Canada-to-Germany payments. Sagar Sarbhai reveals that Ripple piloted XRP with banks years ago.

And in Coil news, the company reveals that it is Coil-enabling some high-profile sites right away, and WietseWind provides the first centralized listing of businesses that are Coil-enabled.

WietseWind also published a new blog of his own on how to ILP-enable the IOT (Internet of Things), merging the IOT with the IOV! Is he the first to do this in the history of the world? Perhaps.

All this and more is covered in today's blog.

Hope you enjoy the read & please leave any feedback below.

    Thanks & Sincerely,

Had dinner with a top tier bitcoin.com guy, here's what he said about XRP...

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 04:04 PM PDT

Had a really great conversation over dinner tonight with a bitcoin.com high up guy. From what it seems, he's Roger Ver's right hand dude and works closely with him. They're all here in Spain from this recent Crypto Cruise that went down.

Our chat was incredibly productive and I really appreciated how smart he was and how little ego he had. He did not suffer from the delusion of treating certain cryptos like sports team and was really open minded on all the tech that's going on in this space, but....

It stuns me that even really SMART people in the know like this guy have also fallen for the XRP falsehoods out there. Now, this guy isn't a ripple supporter and hey, thats fine by me. I dont expect him to know every detail of something he's not invested in and doesn't believe in.

But he asked me to be cautious with Ripple for 2 reasons. 1. They can freeze accounts (I don't need to explain in this group that this has been disproven, You can just follow David Schwartz's twitter feed to find that out) and 2. That ripple is completely centralized and they hold a lot of xrp. I couldn't really fault him on the last point because as a technicality thats true, but I explained its now how it is in reality.

He was open to my explanations and actually said he hadn't had it put to him in those terms and would do more homework on XRP. So I was really pleased by how open and enjoyable the conversation was on crypto as a whole....but here is the point I want to make...

There's a thing in sports gambling where sharp professional betters typically will bet AGAINST the popular choice. It's a profitable strategy because the general population are like lemmings. Something looks good, so more people pile on and the more that pile on the more they think it's a sign that it's a sure thing...

And then they lose and vegas and the sharp betters make a ton of money.

And that's what's happening with Ripple. Most of the crypto universe is going the other way. Not doing their homework. Not researching their investment. Not sifting through all of the information and thinking critically for themselves. This only makes me MORE bullish on XRP as I love being against popular sentiment. Hope you enjoyed the read.

How high can xrp go if only 5%.,,

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 06:23 PM PDT

Ok after some research i found out that theres is about 27 trillions US dollars parked around the world between banks in order for them to settle payments between themselves because the current system is too slow. There are aproximatly 14,000 banks/credit unions Worldwide. Now if we divide 27 trillion into 14,000 banks that would give us about $1.8 trillion usd being parked for every 1,000 banks .so if only 5% of the world banks ,(or about 700) Adopt and use xrp we will have a market cap of about 1.8 trillion. Xrp current marketcap is about 23 billion. Xrp will be worth about $70 with only 5%! of those banks. Brad said they have parnered hundreds of institutions and that by the end of 2019 dozens of banks will be using xrp. So if every year they manage to get a couple dozens of banks that would give us about a $4 dollar increase for Xrp every year. By end of 2019 we could in theory and very likly see at least $5 per xrp or $10 by end of 2020 . It will all depend on how fast they get the banks to use it. This is a reality Even with xrp circulating supply increasing every month,we can absolutly hit double or triple digits in the future if more banks use it. No hate comments please XD.

    Question regarding Coil

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 12:33 PM PDT

First off, does coil have its own subreddit? If so, I apologize and will repost there.

So I was thinking. What is the main differences with Coil and the BRAVE browser. Well, coil is building on ILP, and can be added to any browser, and works with any website, while BRAVE works with BAT and is it's own browser and limited to that.

Does Coil remove ads automatically, or does the websites in question have to do this manually? How does the donation system coil works with work?

Can coil's solution also work with mobile phones to remove ads from apps (candy crush, alarm clock, instagram, facebook aso.)? This could potentially be a huge selling point for me to use it over BRAVE.

One downside I can see with coil is that you have to register with credit card information, binding you to the account, meaning your browser history cannot really be erased and easily traceable. If there was an option to add funds to your account with XRP, and have 5$ worth of XRP being deducted from your account every month, would make the process of tracing your identity a lot longer. (Personally I don't mind, but the general community seems to think anonymity is as important as water)

    XRP 24h volume increasing unprecedentedly!

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 01:08 AM PDT

In the last ATH, 24h volume was about 9B USD. Now it's about 4.8B USD.

Date USD/XRP 24h volume in USD 24h volume in XRP
    Jan/4/2018 (ATH) 3.8 9.2B 2.4B
    Sep/22/2018 (TODAY) 0.56 4.9B 8.75B

USD volume is a half of ATH, but XRP volume is 3.6x higher!

What do you think about that?

Edit2: removed text bellow and created table instead.

From XRP token perspective, XRP price was about $3.8/XRP and 24h XRP volume was a bit bellow 2.4B XRP.

Today, the price is $0.59/XRP, and 24h XRP volume is over 8.1B XRP!

Edit: grammar based on /u/101byDesign suggestion! :) Thanks mate!

    Xcurrent/Xrapid question

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 12:56 PM PDT

Hi I have a question regarding Xcurrent and Xrapid. I understand xcurrent settles instantly and so does xrapid but this settles with XRP. With xcurrent is this settled with standard fiat currencies? So money can move between banks in 4 seconds? Do the banks still have to have nostro accounts with xcurrent? Sorry is this is basic I'm just trying to fully understand it Thank you all

Futuristic & Insightful piece on why XRP & ILP will be massive

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 02:06 PM PDT

Disclaimer: I am the author, and it's my opinion that my piece below is both insightful and futuristic. Also, I needed to clickbait you to read it! Enjoy.

Payments are intimately linked to information nowadays, online, for example:

    - Paying for membership to an exclusive pick up artist forum

    - Paying for tips and tricks to your inbox to keep up with the latest fashion trends

    - Paying for access to art: music (itunes, spotify, etc.) video (youtube, netflix) and images (I don't have an example but I'm sure it exists). This one is almost compulsory to keep up with normal daily conversations: "Did you see the Ozark? It's awesome..."

    - Indirectly paying, to know what gift is cool enough for your quirkey relative! - You indirectly pay due to amazon affiliate links. You find out what's cool, and later search amazon for it. If you search within 30 days, the original blog earns commission.

As you can see the above examples vary massively, each relating to specific demographics.

Information is a key driver of EVERYTHING. That really does deserve capitals. Allow me to explain. I'm an electronic engineer by study, programmer by trade, and regularly wondering about philosophical, futuristic, or alternative things. This gives me a particular range of insights, from the engineering to the philosophical, and ordered as such below:

    - Engineering/software: this is at a high level of abstraction, in terms of our present existence. Some of us work with computers - some of us even writing applications for them as a daily task, most of us have one on our person at all time, I could go on, but you get it. At the core of these devices is information - zeroes and ones. It's what every application is based on (in various layers - 0/1 -> opcodes -> assembely -> C -> application -> social media)

    - Information is what drives human communication - be it on Facebook, or SMS, or old school, face to face. Communication between a species is massively important to the species, to help them form alliances, scare enemies, attract victims, and ultimately, survive.

    - This (unexpectedly) leads me perfect to my last point: Existence itself. Lets just assume that existence == consciousness, which sprouts from our brain - which has evolved from shooting jets of water in the ocean. Humans evolved by surviving, from that jet of water surviving, to the compounds it generated after, to the bacteria to the fish to the lizard to the rodent to the chimp to human (that's the order!). And we survived, with information, see above point.

See, information is absolutely core to existence, and more so to future existence, where it looks like evolution will involve technology more and more - remember 2001 A Space Oddessy opening scene, and the bone suddenly turning into a spaceship - that blew my mind. Recall what Elon said during the Joe Rogan interview, next gen human-machine interactions.

I think I have proved this point.

Payments are Blocked. It's faster to fly a suitcase of cash to the other side of the world than it is to send it through your bank. At least that's what I've been told, many times, by Brad - he keeps repeating it because it's absolutely key. Faster payments unblocks payments, which unblocks information and communications. Advancements will be made, and ILP and XRP will be key to it.

    Shoutout Hodor & AlexCobb

    Difference between Ripple/XRP and PayPal?

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 11:11 AM PDT

I was in an argument with someone about why Ripple will succeed, and he argued that PayPal already does what Ripple is trying to do, liquidating assets from one place to another in a relatively quick amount of time.

Which leads to my question, what makes Ripple's vision/function different from PayPal? What makes it better than PayPal?

    Thanks.

    A couple of questions.

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 11:14 AM PDT

Hello, I've been reading (lurking) on here, and other subreddits, for about 10 months now. Over the last 8-9 months I've been (very slowly) investing in a few different crypto currencies. There are a couple of things I have questions about though. I have searched around, but either couldn't find an answer, or didn't understand the information (this specifically regarding my second question). I'm not looking for "x exchange is better". But if your answer suggests a more efficient way by USING a different (just as fast) exchange/coin/process, I'm open to suggestions.

In this scenario, I'm using Coinbase, Binance, and Bitcoin as my examples..

I've seen posts about buying Bitcoin through coinbase, transferring to Binance, then setting a limit order "x Satoshi > XRP". But in this scenario, if the price of Bitcoin changes, (to my understanding) that affects your price of "x Satoshi".

Wouldn't I "take less of a hit" if I sell my Bitcoin for Tether, THEN set a limit order for "XRP" (assuming Tether's price doesn't change)?

I'm a visual learner, so it's a little difficult for me to wrap my head around this.

My second question is regarding taxes ( I live in the U.S.)

If I invest $100, then sell at $1000; is the tax on $1000 or $900?

    Thank you for your help.

To be honest guys.....created Ripple calculator and I spend all Saturday on it. ehhhh maybe somebody need it. This is rather for Bitmex traders maybe at Finnex you use leverage as well.

    - manipulating blue cells in this free excel spread sheet you can check scenario long or short, depending on different leverage and entry/close price: link to Ripple calculator

Regarding XRP transaction time exchange <--> hardwallet

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 10:53 AM PDT

I recently sent some xrp from binance to my hardwallet and realized it took about 3-5 minutes before I had recieved the tokens in my wallet. Why is that? From what I understand the transactions should be taking no longer than 3-5 seconds and of course this is important for the companies and xrapids success. What am I missing? Also did two of these transactions, same destination and about the same transaction time. //

Thanks in advance for any answer!

How do I use minimalist ripple client write transaction offline to send ripple from paper wallet to exchange?

    Posted: 22 Sep 2018 01:53 AM PDT

From googling, it seems it is possible to write transactions on an offline computer without exposing my secret key to a computer connected to the web, and then submit the transaction on an online computer later, however I haven't been able to find a step by step guide how to do it, or figure out how to do it with the buttons in the minimalist ripple client. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
