The crypto market continues to trade based on speculation, attracting high-risk takers and scaring off ordinary investors. Mainstream adoption is the key to change people's perception of the crypto space. Dapps are ideal for encouraging this shift as they are designed to appeal to ordinary users.

Europol: Bitcoin has not funded a single terrorist attack

    Posted: 24 Sep 2018 09:27 AM PDT

"The dark side of the darknet currency Bitcoin" - That's roughly the way the headlines of the mainstream media have been for years. However, after the recent release of the DEA from the USA recently reported that criminal activities with Bitcoin have fallen by 80% since 2013, a new study has come up with startling results that should make Bitcoin critics think.

As governments regularly warn that cryptocurrencies are being used for terrorist financing, Europol has undertaken a search to verify this statement. The result of the study is more than surprising, because according to Europol there was not a single terrorist attack in Europe financed with cryptocurrencies. It turned out in reality that criminals prefer cash.
Not because they are old-fashioned, but because cryptocurrencies are a pseudonym, not anonymous. Governments have proven on several occasions that they can track any crypto-transaction by criminals, as they are transparent on the contrary to cash.

Zen Protocol’s Contracting Language Can be the Key to Improve Smart Contracts

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 02:27 AM PDT

Two coins from the top ten in coinmarketcap, Ethereum and Cardano, both have dedicated languages for their smart contracting functionality, this is meant to make writing a smart contract easier to do - With the intention eventually being to make it possible for non-programmers to write and execute smart contracts by using commonly available, open source and reliable code bases, some of the languages are better than others in the trade-offs they offer in writing the contracts, Ethereum's solidity offers a large degree of expression. And yet, some argue that this comes with the cost of being less secure, and cases like the DAO and parity hacks show that this potential vulnerability has been exploited.

A somewhat less known project is Zen Protocol, which was recently added to coinmarketcap, might something new to say on the matter. Focusing on financial applications, ZP smart contracting language (Called F*), is structured such that formal verification is possible, which means contracts written with it could be mathematically proven to be secure, and that it performs the task it is meant to do.

This creates a whole new situation regarding smart contracts, and serves as a big step towards the crypto world evolution.

Bitcoin and an experience to remember.

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 03:45 AM PDT

I'm not going to type out the whole story but Bitcoin has taught me a lot of lessons. Recently, I had to move and change jobs. A while back I had bought an unwise amount of bitcoin compared to my income. It was fun and exciting to trade and see the numbers go up, to feel the adrenaline.

Of all the lessons and hard truths, this morning I had to make this post. I'm down over a thousand dollars compared to what I put in across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others. Looking at the graphs and how much money I could have made if I had sold at the perfect time, it's easy to beat myself up. Yea, what I did was stupid and I should have saved my money instead. Now, I'm slowly taking what I need and using it on Bitpay when I need something before paydays. This whole experience is more than money or cool technology, for me at least. I still have a some crypto... about half of what I did. But I'm not sad or depressed. There are so many possibilities that could have happened. I could have had even worse judgement and spent all that money on drugs or stupid shit in general. However, I got sober July 4th. I stopped drinking every night and blaming everything on my past, blaming my current shitty actions for past things that happened to me.

I went through a lot this past year, but a thousand dollars to learn how little I really do know was worth every satoshi (at least keeping it positive). This has been a really humbling experience.. brutally, relentlessly humbling. I learned to save, to admit my mistakes, and how to learn from my failures, how to really learn from them. I'm just really grateful it happened now instead of later in life. If anyone else can relate to this, I hope you're keeping your head high and your outlook bright. I saw a post recently that described happiness as a butterfly. If you try to catch it, it will fly away. It's when you're not searching, but living that it will come near. CGP grey had a video that describes a similar thing but with a boat. I'm working on fixing my "boat" and learning new hobbies. Have a great day and I sincerely hope anyone reading this finds something to take away. Thank you.
