Emin Gün Sirer:"The percentage of the network not upgraded after a major patch corresponds to economically worthless nodes. If they did or affected something useful, someone would have bothered to upgrade them."

Bitcoin Core mandatory update means segwit is no longer optional.

    Posted: 24 Sep 2018 06:46 PM PDT

Think about it. All core nodes will now have segwit. This means it's no longer optional for those nodes. You could still run other implementations but few do that.

Vitalik on Twitter: "I'm confused; what does this solve? How does this make light wallets easier?" Luke-jr answers: " The goal is to make light wallets impractical. The problem is that light wallets are used at all, and that an insufficient % of the network uses their own full node." #TheCultofCore

Matt Corallo forced to admit non-mining nodes don't matter: "This is what happens when people fetishise "decentralization" without considering what it's even there for. At this point, upgrade your own node -> problem solved for you. Who cares about Bob's long-forgotten Raspberry Pi node?"

Announcing our Bitcoin Cash exchange, Voltaire.

    Posted: 24 Sep 2018 01:29 PM PDT

We've just launched our Bitcoin Cash based exchange. It's called Voltaire. It's something we've put our hearts and minds into, and are proud to present it to the BCH community.

    In summary:

    • We're offering no trading fees for 8 weeks
    • Our first 100 users to place a trade get lifetime no trading fees
    • We're trying to challenge the look and feel of cryptocurrency exchanges - they don't mirror the innovation they represent. We're doing this with good design, solid typography and a strong brand ethos.
    • We're onboarding FIAT to offer a European BCH <> GBP/EUR gateway into Bitcoin Cash
    • We want to see Bitcoin Cash become a global solution for peer-to-peer, electronic cash payments
    • To make that happen, we're donating a percentage of exchange profits to projects that drive adoption and build utility for crypto, particularly BCH

    The URL is https://voltaire.cash

We'll post more information soon. See you in telegram!

The best way to make lambos off BCH is to create a virtuous cycle of ‘earn’ and ‘spend’

    Posted: 24 Sep 2018 11:33 PM PDT

If you're simply investing (buying and selling) in Bitcoin Cash, you're basically doing FX trading. That's it. Nothing more.

People 'earn' and 'spend' dollars. They don't buy money and later sell it to greater fools.

Bitcoin Cash is money, a global cash. What we do with fiat must be the same with Bitcoin Cash.

Global adoption which will make BCH a 'unit of account' cannot happen naturally.

If you own a business, accept Bitcoin Cash. If you don't, start one. Bitcoin Cash completely eliminates barriers to start a business globally.

Even Samson Mow has a hat store on LN.

Make the virtuous cycle of earning and spending, not the Ponzi cycle of buying cheap and selling high.

Why is there so much hatred towards Bitcoin Cash in the crypto community?

    Posted: 24 Sep 2018 03:29 PM PDT

I'm looking for a genuine argument as to why Bitcoin Cash is a bad crypto-currency in comparison to Bitcoin Core. It seems to me like Bitcoin Core supporters dismiss Bitcoin Cash as a scam without providing solid arguments or using logical reasoning. I am wondering if anyone can provide some real evidence proving that Bitcoin Core is indeed better, or why Bitcoin Cash is better.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bitcoin Cash has lower fees, right? And it also has faster confirmations? I honestly don't know, that's why I'm asking. And what is wrong with raising the block size? Or what are the advantages of NOT raising the block size?

Do Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash have the same development goals? I would imagine the goal would be to create a digital currency (viable for transactions). I.e., "Satoshi's vision". Which one sticks closer to the original intentions of Satoshi, and why?

I hold neither, for the record.

Also, which one is more decentralized and why?

I know /r/btc prefers BCH, so I expect to see positive responses. I tried to post this in /r/Bitcoin and /r/CryptoCurrency but it got deleted (no surprise there).

This community seems friendlier towards the Ethereum community. Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum are the most likely to be vilified by the Core Maximalists. They call these projects "centralized" when clearly that criticism is better suited for projects like NEO or XRP.
I know /r/Bitcoin has a long history of censorship, and /r/btc is the sub for free discussion.
What are the Bitcoin Cash developers currently working on? What is the next item on the roadmap?

Unbelievable! This guy introduced Bitcoin’s biggest bug to-date & is part of the Bitcoin Core team who’s narrative to BTC supporters for years was small non-mining nodes are important for BTC security. Now he finally admits it was a lie all along!

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 02:55 AM PDT

80% of BitcoinCore nodes still running an old version with a potentially catastrophic inflation bug doesn't matter because those nodes do nothing to secure the network in any way. They're only useful to the people running them. We've been saying this all along.

Encouraging Bitcoin Core devs to do their experiments is the best thing for Bitcoin Cash community.

    Posted: 24 Sep 2018 11:49 PM PDT

I never understood why Bitcoin Core devs are so hated at this point.

Encourage them to deviate from the original plan further. Let Luke succeed making SPV wallet impractical.

This is the best and fastest way for businesses and users to on-board Bitcoin Cash.

How Bitcoin Cash can save Venezuela

    Posted: 24 Sep 2018 11:00 PM PDT

One of the purposes of mining was to release the coins to the participants of Bitcoin. We got to keep doing that, not only by mining but also by giving BCH away. Please remember to donate to the latest winner of /r/millionairemakers. Only a dollar is fine. Very important for our community.
