Next time they ask you about the value proposition of bitcoin cash: 3.5 billion people have internet access. Only 700m have bank accounts. Bitcoin (cash) closes that 2.8bn gap by making commerce accessible to everyone!

    How times have changed.

    Posted: 24 Jun 2018 07:59 PM PDT

I've been casually hanging around cryptocurrencies since 2010 or so but got out of the game around the boom on 2014. Decided to come back to cryptos a few months ago since everyone around me began talking about it last year and how times have changed! I thought Bitcoin (BTC) was still the original bitcoin I used to play with and mine but it turns out that apparently it has turned into a Segwit coin with all that stuff that's steering away from the original whitepaper. :/

I guess with all the segwit and lightning stuff stacked on top of BTC and the outrageous tx fees, BCH is the coin that naturally follows the original Bitcoin? Anyone else away from the game for a few years and find yourself in a radically changed world? :P

(Feels good to be back, btw!)

What if we mirrored the censored /r/bitcoin on a memo.cash or blockpress.com type system. But allowed it to be completely uncensored, with big blockers able to reply. It might be an interesting experiment.

Buying BCH in a bear market - the one thing you did right in your entire life.

    Posted: 24 Jun 2018 10:57 PM PDT

Next bull run will reveal the fundamentals of BCH, while BTC will suddenly be noticed by the right now blind crypto masses as a scamcoin that isnt usable as a currency, neither as a store of value.

You fucked up alot in your life, thats why you are on reddit, but buying BCH in this bear market is the one thing you really did not mess up.

Here's a potentially significant centralization risk with LN that I don't recall having seen before

    Posted: 24 Jun 2018 04:30 PM PDT

The most promising use-case for LN that I've seen so far is streaming micropayments. We all agree that LN really doesn't work well / at all for "macropayments" but it can work for making lots of really tiny payments.

So let's assume they get it working at least that well and some use-cases for streaming micropayments take off.

Has anyone considered the network implications of tens or hundreds of millions of people trying to stream payments simultaneously through hubs?

Sure, "anyone can run a lightning node" but if people are using LN to stream zillions of transactions then we should probably expect any hub or any importance whatsoever to require colocation in a Tier 3-4 data center.

Why don't Bitcoin.com, Coingeek and all BCH websites integrate "Money button" feature?! Money button is one of the best creation out there, especially for publishers! BCH creations should get more attention and exposure from its supporters.

Two adoption ideas: Groupon & reach Bitpay merchants via tweet

    Posted: 25 Jun 2018 01:27 AM PDT

Both of these are half-baked. Feel free to fix them or sink them.

    Groupon

Groupon may be a way to reach a giant number of brick&mortar retail goods & services providers. As I understand it, Groupon provides discount coupons for local shops to Groupon subscribers. It may not sound like much, but Groupon is nation(world?)wide. They are in touch with a giant database of local retailers. They could be approached to ask all those merchants if they'd like to accept Bitcoin/Crypto.

"Thanks you Mama Santos Pizzeria for signing up with Groupon. Would you like to indicate on your batch send announcement to all our Groupon members in your area that you accept Bitcoin Cash? If so just check this box. If you's like to accept Bitcoin Cash then click here and a rep will send you more info."

I'm sure there are variations on win/win partnerships with Groupon and imitators of Groupon. Does anyone have a contact at Groupon or their competitor?

    Reaching Bitpay Merchants

The 100k merchants of Bitpay that accept BCH is great. It would be even more powerful to be able to provide the list of all of them to potential customers. Sadly, Bitpay did provide the list years ago but no longer, presumably to prevent the competition from approaching them all.

A list could slowly be assembled though. For example, it's reasonable to assume that many, though far from all, use twitter and follow Bitpay. Wouldn't this mean then, that we could reach this subset with tweets?

"Hello Merchants that accept Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash, would you like to be included in the database that potential customers browse in order to find you? If so, please take a moment to sign up here. @bitpay #bitpay #bch #bitcoin"

Are banks now adopting cryptocurrencies? What do you think?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2018 10:37 PM PDT

Cryptocurrencies are here stay, and it is obvious that central banks around the planet are agreeing. Maybe some banks don't like Bitcoin, and see public digital currencies a threat to their business. What do you think?
