As soon as bitmex went offline for trading the price rebounded around 52% on other exchanges.

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 09:16 PM PDT

Not saying dont expect unregulated markets to not take advantage of massive stop loss hunt, however most of the dump probably can be attributed to the massive derivatives market and open longs waiting to get liquidated.
https://i.imgur.com/Uohvbcp.png you can even see here that just before the dump 83% of people on bitfinex were long which is a massive downward selling pressure if the market was able to dip low enough to stop people out.

The take away is things like bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies will almost never take off as a currency when we created things like 100x leveraged longs and shorts.

Anyway in the mean time enjoy the retrace back up for those that did manage to buy in when prices were near 4k again.

Bitcoin isn't a stock. There is no need to sell.

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 04:33 PM PDT

To all those people selling Bitcoin because of the virus: Bitcoin isn't a company which makes money from commerce. It's understandable why the stock market is dropping, but you don't need to sell BTC just because shares are dropping. You hold a digital currency, not a share in Bitcoin.

I just invested in crypto for the first time

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 10:48 PM PDT

Since everything is super cheap I bought a decent amount of bit coins at 5k and also bought some ETH

Am I an idiot? This is some extra money so it's not like it will be a devastating loss if I lose..

    This is exciting

[Analysis] The market is crashing because institutional investors got their Chinese new year bonuses late this year. Hodl.

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 02:20 AM PDT

As we all know the market normally pumps shortly after Chinese new year as institutional traders seek to invest billions of Renminbi into safe haven assets such as cryptocurrency. Understandably this has been delayed this year due to the ongoing virus epidemic.

Bonuses will be paid out in full once the virus in defeated around May. Remember that Wall Street bonus season starts in April and the Bitcoin halving will happen in May. Now put 1+1 together. This is not investment advice.

Edit: If China bans cryptocurrency within the next two months then Bitcoin might go to 0.

The shit happened but to global markets and for a virus thats probably being over hyped. Fundamentally what has changed. Not much just alot of money out of nowhere going into markets from the fed into markets. More USD supply. BTC supply drop in under 3m. You all just got memed
