Posted: 14 Mar 2018 02:09 AM PDT How did this go unnoticed?I keep seeing about how Jamie Damon is talking s**t about crypto on reddit but not seen a post about this project. The leadership of JPMorgan can say whatever they want to slow down the process of crypto-projects and to buy as much time for their project to grow and finalize. This is clear evidence that crypto is not going anywhere for the time being [link] [comments]

Decide on the fate of the geth console Posted: 14 Mar 2018 06:58 AM PDT x-posted from r/ethdev As many of you might know, geth has an interactive JavaScript console since v0.9.20 (released May 12, 2015). For dapp developers, it's a way to try out the web3.js API. Here's our issue: The console bundles web3.js v0.20.1. With the release of web3.js v1.0 around the corner, we're in a bit of a pickle because the new version removes synchronous APIs. If we'd upgrade, users would need to deal with promises for simple things like listing accounts. Promises are a good choice in the browser but less nice on the CLI. Additionally, as web3.js adapts new features from ECMAScript 6 and beyond, the 'otto' JavaScript interpreter we use won't be able to keep up anymore. The otto interpreter is stuck with ES 5 indefinitely and already has minor incompatibilities compared to mainstream implementations. On top of otto we have around 600 lines of glue code to implement an event loop to make timers and asynchronous requests work. We always liked the console because you don't need to install node.js and npm to interact with geth, but the time has come to reevaluate how useful it is today. We have a few choices going forward: Remove the console This is the simplest solution, but we're not super happy about it because the console is useful to us. To interact with geth from the command line, you'd need to install a scripting environment of your choice (nodejs, python, ruby...) and install a library to talk to the JSON-RPC interface. Upgrade to web3.js v1.0 This has all the downsides listed above, but would at least provide the same experience across browser and console. We'd need to invest a lot of time to make this work properly. Switch to a different scripting language If we take this route, the API offered by the console won't match web3.js. It would become useless to dapp developers who would need to find some other option to interact with ethereum. On the flipside, we could use scripting as a testbed to try our Go APIs on the command line. There are a few embedded scripting languages available as a Go library. Most of these implement esoteric languages that nobody knows. The most promising candidate is GopherLua because it implements Lua which some people might actually know how to program. Another contender is Neugram, which is a new language with very tight Go integration targeting Go developers. You decide! We're posting this to get your feedback. Please tell us if and how you use the geth console so we can make a good decision about its future. [link] [comments]

JD launch blockchain accelerator/Al project, forms Partnership with CanYa. Posted: 14 Mar 2018 03:55 PM PDT Full article: https://medium.com/@oluwanisolapaul/jd-launch-blockchain-accelerator-al-project-forms-partnership-with-canya-2e814b3af8d5 Prior to it's global launch, CanYa - a Cryptocurrency blockchain project which mission is to disrupt the Freelance Marketplace with tiny transaction fee (20x lesser than traditional fees) using a decentralised operation, forms partnership with JD.com (Chinese's e-commerce giant with over 266 million users). The signing ceremony commenced at Nasdaq (NYC) where JD is traded. In it's quest to unlock the 'transformative potential of startups demonstrating cutting edge talent in the blockchain space', JD.com inaugurated a cohort of 6 blockchain startup projects (CanYa, Bluzelle, Nuggets, Devery, republic protocol and Bankorus). CanYa along with others will be receiving the full backing of JD international business development, immense marketing / PR resources and vast network. Despite cryptocurrency high volatility CanYa chooses to adopt it's usage on its platform which value will be protected by a stable coin "Digix", integrated into an hedge escrow contract. Showing immense vision, CanYa bought the Bounty source platform - the world's first and largest p2p open source platform which have over 46,000 developers and a number of high profile teams including IBM, Facebook, Adobe, Ripple and Uber. With a working product since 2016, great partnerships, and a quality userbase, CanYa is on the mission to disrupt the freelance space and consciously accelerate the widespread use of cryptocurrency. Video journalist looking for budding Canadian start ups Posted: 14 Mar 2018 03:09 PM PDT Hi guys, I am potentially creating a small video series on Canadian blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies for a certain Canadian media outlet. I will be attending EDCON in May, however I was wondering if reddit could help me out with some potential start ups in Canada I could do a small piece on. Thanks! [link] [comments]
