Just a quick update on Korean investors

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 06:25 PM PST

I've gathered some information from Korean news / forums etc that's not readily available in the media. A lot of people don't seem to know what's going on either so just sharing outcome from my research. I'm made in Korea, living in Australia :p

Korean Exchanges and Banks (Requiring accounts to be verified)

Korean investors can only trade from exchange that is linked to their banks.. For example

Korbit exchange - Shinhan bank only

Coinone exchange - Nong hyup bank only

Upbit exchange - Gi-up bank only

Bithumb exchange - Nong hyup, Shinhan bank etc etc

    Government and Banks

Government (recently revealed that they are heavily invested in cypto), want Banks to be held accountable for should there be any problems with crypto. i.e. Even hacking of the exchange sites... So it is Up to banks to decision, not exchanges.

Now I can't confirm if above bill was passed or not (probably won't) but seems like Government wants to intimidate & manipulate Banks while not officially announcing the ban. Because IF Government bans crypto, come next election and they'll be out on the streets.

Korean Exchanges that doesn't require account verification

(So something like Binance where no / minimal verification is in place) If these exchanges fail up signing contract with banks, they will closed. full stop. Will Banks signup with them? Probably No. As they are minor exchanges and again, Banks are to be responsible. Such a BS.

Had my relative who tried to create a bank account to use in Exchanges but failed. Bank didn't accept new user / account creation for Exchanges. Don't ask me why, I don't know.

AFAIK Banks had plan to accept new users by the end of January. This has been delayed to early/mid February, think it was sometime around 6th or round about there (so soon)!!

Things could change thanks to all those corrupted Korean Government fools. Best bet is to wait and see how things go, this manipulation won't last long.

EDIT: I can't seem to paragraph correctly :(

Ripple price: "Dark horse" cryptocurrency predicted to rise in value

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 06:40 AM PST

For XRP to succeed, we need all crypto to succeed

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 11:21 AM PST

See all these posts about great news and other shit....etc.

None of it matters unless the overall market cap improves. Sitting at a LOW number of 399B at the moment. XRP isn't just going to pull itself ahead of the pack while the overall market is tanking. Need everything to move up. Until then, good news will not affect price whatsoever. This is probably obvious to a lot of you. Just saying.

    How much can Ripple Scale?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 01:05 PM PST

So I've heard Ripple can do 1,500 TPS (transactions per second) and maybe up to 4000? While it is the absolute best on the market right now, considering speed AND ease of use, it's not nearly enough for widespread real-world use. We're gonna need at least tens of thousands of TPS. Is it possible for Ripple to scale that much? What are the bottlenecks?

EDIT: For people who don't want to read through the comments - it's been tested up to 70k TPS until now and can scale big time thanks to payment channels, a secure way to do transactions off-chain and thus much faster. Bullish: XRP will be to ETH what ETHis to BTC

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 08:05 AM PST

Most of us already know that Ripple has been doing amazing work getting a lot of people aboard using Xcurrent and/or Xrapid ( please look at Hodor's recent post if you need a nice summary )

We also know that new exchanges will now be adding XRP ( Robinhood , coinsquare ,etc.)

    Advantages:

    1) We have people buying directly from Fiat to XRP ( increase volume and decrease pegging to BTC)

    2) Another thing that may have been overlooked is the fact that Ripple settles in seconds and costs a fraction of the price of BTC or ETH

This means that all the people that want to trade other coins via Binance , Bitfinex ,etc.. , will probably chose XRP as a medium of transportation instead of ETH or BTC ! Someone can argue that XRP does not have the trading pairs for the other coins . However , it's only a question of time before XRP becomes to ETH what ETH is to BTC . Plus , some trades via XRP first can be more interesting since ETH is more expensive and prone to more volatility time . Let's not forget how ETH was struggling when CryptoKitties came aboard and people had to wait hours in order to get their coins ! Even if they adjust the gas issue ,the problem will only get bigger when the real mass adoption comes in place . Hence why XRP's scalability is awesome !

In summary , the fact of adding XRP to exchanges will increase the volume by buying directly XRP or using it as the preferred medium of exhange ! Which in turn , will probably set a better price for XRP and most importantly less pegging to BTC.

    Getting into XRP

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 03:12 PM PST

    Hey,

I read the various FAQs on the subreddit and am hesitant to post this, since I don't want to ask something that's already been answered, but I have a few things I'd like to ask the community:

    1) What is something you wish you knew getting into Ripple?

    2) What is the best way to purchase XRP for somebody looking to invest mid-longterm (6 months-4 years)? Kraken or Bitstamp?

    3) How can I best ensure security with my purchase longterm?

I've been following this for about 6 months and really believe that Ripple is the best crypto for use. As a result, I'm not looking at getting in on this because of the hype but rather investing in the technology and usage itself.

Looking forward to joining you on Ripple.

Agricole to use XRP post testing

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 06:11 AM PST

I am a long term holder of XRP and I truly hope it succeeds but does anyone else find the extremely disproportional levels of volume coming from Korea concerning? Recently they've accounted for about 62% of all volume!

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 01:19 AM PST

    https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ripple/#markets

The three largest exchanges Bitthumb: 41%, Upbit 15%, Coinone 7.5%

The largest US exchange only accounts for 2% of the volume right now.

Is there a way to see where the majority of the sell orders are coming from?

    Update according to Norwegian banks

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 03:08 PM PST

UPdate related to the post Norwegian banks looking at Ripple. Since there have been lots of the same question Why DnBs Lasse Meholm according to E24 (see link below) says Ripple is expensive, I mailed him the question, Why do yo mean that Ripple is expensive ? This is his answere:

"In Ripple, each bank must be a so-called gateway that costs money. In that case, DNB must have many gateway licenses and it will be terribly expensive. Has nothing to do with Blockchain, but the Ripple company. "

So why is so many other banks signing then ?

Missing/Stolen XRP's going to this address??

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 08:26 PM PST

Could this be the address that is stealing the XRP's from people's Ledger Nano S ripple wallets????

    rEb8TK3gBgk5auZkwc6sHnwrGVJH8DuaLh

Need some help from the super sleuths on this site. I was helping someone find out how many XRP's were in her account because it was showing zero. She posted her XRP address and i checked it at https://xrpcharts.ripple.com Apparently a large amount was transferred to the above address. So i checked into the transaction history. Last night (saturday Feb 3rd at 7:30pm eastern time zone) this account had roughly 65,000 XRP's but was receiving all kinds of XRP's from 5 to 11,000 every few minutes. It did not seem like it was an exchange address because 65K seemed too small for an exchange to have. Today I checked the address again, it has just 5,000 ripple in it (today is Sunday at 11:17pm eastern time zone) I looked into the transaction history some more, once this account got up to 125,000 XRP they sent about 110,000 to this address

    rJb5KsHsDHF1YS5B5DU6QCkH5NsPaKQTcy

this account has millions of XRP, so I suppose it is an exchange.

the account rinses and repeats. Could this be one of the Man in the middle malware addresses?? I have no idea how to check this stuff, but i know some of you here do. Just seems suspicious.......

thanks to those who will look into this.
