Who Else Wants to Team Up and Build Cool Stuff? Posted: 04 Feb 2018 08:23 AM PST The growing movement of collaboration in this new blockchain economy has me amazed. Never before has it been so easy for anyone to, without permission, take a financial stake in a project they believe in, and then do what they can to move it forward. Sure, speculation is rampant, but if just a small fraction of speculators get involved with one or more projects, when they otherwise would not have, I see it as a win. Never before has an open source project been able to gain continual momentum via network effects, which enable them to easily fund bounties. I want to start a research project building DApps as vehicles to solve blockchain problems. Those problems will then be broken out into libraries. And hopefully those libraries will gain momentum and end up contributing, even just a little, to the ecosystem. Who is with me? I will handle all initial organization to make sure this project runs smoothly, but ultimately the entire team will be self-governing. Helps if you have one or more of the following skills:
Those will be the main building blocks, everything else (Ethereum APIs, unit testing, iOS/Android native wrappers, etc) you can learn as we go. I want our projects to be as as accessible as possible so we can draw in more and more developers. I believe focusing on React + modern JS is the best way to achieve this. JS can be messy, but we can use tooling to enforce high quality code standards. I want to avoid any unnecessary barriers to participation. About me:
I will share my Facebook / LinkedIn over direct message with anyone who is serious. If you're interested, let's here why. Please respond here and/or upvote to help us gain more exposure. [[P.S. I Made an ERC-721 Solidity Library Posted: 04 Feb 2018 07:52 AM PST I decided to look into Solidity libraries a little more once I found out about them and I noticed that no libraries had been made for ERC-721 tokens yet. So I built one. I'm still new to development so please let me know if there's any mistakes and how to fix them since there's probably a lot. [link] [comments]

Let's talk piracy on the blockchain Posted: 04 Feb 2018 06:42 PM PST Not spreading FUD or anything but I think this is an interesting topic. With the blockchain being immutable and all what happens when piracy is thrown in the mix. Obviously it would be very very expensive to store a movie in a smart contract but a copyrighted image is more realistic. With centralized hosting sites people can generally request to have an image taken down if they have the rights to it and if that doesn't work legal action usually does. If someone were to deploy a smart contract containing some else's work it can never be taken down. It is permanent and anyone can access it. Could the people running nodes face legal consequence since they are essentially hosting the pirated content? I think that would be unlikely, but lets hear some thoughts. [link] [comments]

Selling on Craigslist for Eth, what should I expect / watch for? Posted: 04 Feb 2018 08:14 AM PST Hi I was going to sell some photography stuff on Craigslist and wanted to try Eth by curiosity. I've got a blockchain.com wallet and an address. How long should I expect to wait to get confirmation? I see it depends on gas, but how do I control that? Anything I should be careful about? Thanks [link] [comments]
Do we really need another game? Probably not, but.. Posted: 04 Feb 2018 12:16 PM PST We are proud to introduce Angel Battles at www.angelbattles.com. If you want ponzi elements or to turn a quick profit, this game is NOT for you. However, if you want a game that's actually FUN to play, where almost all of the cards are either free or cheap, where all the artwork is all original, and where almost all the code is open source, then this is worth checking out. You create a team with cards of angels or fallen angels, pets which can be gotten for free, bred (free), or defeated in battle (free), and optional accessories. You train (free) the pets to hone their Aura strengths. Then you can battle (free) in the Wimpy Cirrus Meadows (easy), the Menanicing Numbus Forest (medium) or the Thuuuuuuuunderdome... (hard). Your team can also fight its way to the top of Mt. Zion, the Global Leaderboard (free). Prove how good you are by challenging teams above you and working your way up. The marketplace connects players who have the patience and skill to develop strong cards with those who want to reach elite status as quickly as possible. Acquisitions and training are live now. The battle contract is also live, and the web interface should be live within a day. Other modules will follow shortly. You can see the acquisitions contract and its source on etherscan at angelbattles.eth *Note, of course free in the above post refers to developers taking no fees, you still have to pay a few cents ETH network fees. You can see a detailed guide at https://medium.com/@michael_41543/guide-to-playing-angelbattles-com-12b6beb5d9cb [link] [comments]
Block Propagation - Validation before Propagation? Posted: 04 Feb 2018 07:51 AM PST I've seen here on the comments that probably blocks are being validated by nodes before being propagated.

I translated the TipJar bot's FAQ into Spanish Posted: 04 Feb 2018 12:52 PM PST ¿Qué es TipJar? Esto instantaneamente le advertirá al bot y el comando !tip deberÃa procesar dentro de unos minutos. menciona a If you want send your tip faster, delete your comment and try again. ¿Qué es éter/Ethereum?What is ether/Ethereum? ¿No serÃa genial si TipJar pudiera ______? [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Feb 2018 12:54 PM PST https://www.blocklord.co Blocklord is Ethereum's 1st Decentralized Planet Earth where every corner of the planet has been tokenised on the Ethereum Blockchain, and can be customised and traded. Blocklord subdivides and tokenises every corner of planet Earth. You can own, customise and trade blocks of land on the blockchain. Each token, or block, can be personalised with image, text, a link to your personal or commercial website an so on. You could own Times Square, the Tour Eiffel, your office or the place where you met your significant other, and customise each block to your liking, leaving your mark forever on the blockchain. Blocks can be re-sold or rented out to tenants who might want to temporarily advertise on your blocks, generating real world income. "You can earn value in 3 different ways. 1) You can decide to resell a block for a price of your choice (e.g. you buy for 0.1 ETH and can sell it for 0.12ETH for 20% profit) 2) Other players can decide to buy you out without your consent, they would need to pay at least double what you paid for, this is to retain liquidity in case somebody bought, say the White House, and then decided not to play the game anymore. 3) You can rent your block, for a daily fee another player can decide to put their data on the block. Imagine a coffee chain would want to advertise a campaign on the blocks where their premises are. What do you guys think? How would you use it? Any feedback would be great! [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Feb 2018 10:17 AM PST The white paper takes some time to read, but their token model is one of the few I've seen which is well integrated into their platform and actually makes sense. It's not the usual "access" or "voucher" or dividend-paying token model. The ecosystem inside the platform is divided into two groups of participants; the renewable energy project developers and the customers. The model requires that the renewable energy project developers have the appropriate amount of XIW tokens in order to bid on the customer's project. The only way developers can get these XIW tokens is when they win bids from customers who offer the XIW tokens as a part of their proposed project. This means that customers who offer the XIW tokens can demand better deals. This falls in line with what they are trying to accomplish, which is to shift the space from being developer-centric to customer focused. There are a lot more details and it looks like a lot of thought went into it. It's also one of the few models I've seen that's actually spelled out. Thoughts?
