I just sold - to give some joy

    Posted: 23 Dec 2017 11:44 PM PST

I found myself reading many 'succcess' stories over my few months browsing this subreddit and just thought I wanted to share mine, although not as major as others.

Thanks to Bitcoin I have been able to do something that I never thought I would be able to at my age. My mother has been struggling financially for some time and as time went on many things broke that were previously bought by my father. Having bought some btc earlier this year, I really wanted to take the opportunity to give thanks to this amazing woman that brought me into this world. I bought a new microwave and fridge and had an oven also installed, installed everything overnight (to be ready for any Christmas preparations) and woke her up early this morning. Seeing her expression this morning was absolutely priceless and worth every Satoshi.

Keep on Hodling my friends! I'll be back!

We need lightning network on mainnet yesterday. But it very much alpha software and will not be deployed unless it gets tons more testing and dev work. However, not everyone is a developer and even if you are a developer, contributing to crypto is not easy. I was in the same position.

But there are other ways! I installed Bitcoin Core on testnet and both Lnd and Eclair and tried opening channels, sending payments, closing channels etc. After a day or so, I discovered two bugs, filed them and cooperated with developers in tracking them and fixing them. If you are a bit tech savvy, you can do that too. In the process, you might also discover how lightning actually works and when it really comes, you'll be ready to take full advantage.

    Please go educate yourself: http://www.lightning.network/ https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd https://github.com/ACINQ/eclair https://github.com/ElementsProject/lightning

Debt Free! I paid off my Medical school loans! Bitcoin changed my life!

    Posted: 23 Dec 2017 07:38 PM PST

I started mining around 2012. Started mining on GPUs to build out an amazing gaming rig and just kept upgrading the rigs. I just kept getting more, GPUs and my home started looking like a server.

Even got one of the first Butterfly ASICs (mined a few bitcoins realized I would net more bitcoins selling it on Ebay and buying in). Slowly I stopped mining as my GPUs stopped getting a profit and my overclocked gpus slowly burnt themselves out.

Then I just hodl. Just didn't pay attention, checked out, and said I wouldn't do anything until it changed my life.

Fam, this last month it changed my life. I said I would sell at 10K to pay off loans, then it shot up to 18 before I knew it. This is amazing, I sold not even 10% of my hodlings and am now debt free.

Again, I am drawing the sell line in the sand. Not until it changes my life again. This time the line is to buy a house, when I can do that with Bitcoin I will have to part with a little bit more. Excited for that day!

Hold up.. Segwit and LN cut right into the profits of miners and exchanges. Is that why they're pushing Bcash as the real Bitcoin, just because it maintains their power and profits?
