(How To): Request XRP be added to Coinbase

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 12:10 PM PST

Forget change.org petitions, this is Reddit, home of the largest secret santa exchange on the planet. I searched this sub to see what people were doing and found nothing specific, only calls to do something.

People are going into banks and telling them they should use Ripple/XRP. I love the passion, even though that's not how banks make global transaction processing technology decisions. If we want the value of XRP to go up, we wait for Ripple (they're doing a fine job). We also continue making it easier for others to buy XRP. Now onto the details.

If you are a Coinbase customer and want to see XRP in that 4th slot, here's a step by step:

    1. Visit:
      https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/emails/new

    2. Scroll down until you see "Contact our Team" (click it).

    3. A Submit a Request will show up

    4. Choose Other

    5. Choose your browser

    6. Subject:

    Please add XRP

    Message:

(Whatever note you want, but here's some text to get you started.)

    Dear Coinbase,

I'm a customer and use your service often. I'd like to request that you add Ripple - XRP to the Buy/Sell section of the website. I see that there is an open slot there next to Litecoin. XRP belongs in that spot.

    Faithfully yours,

    Some person

    1. Tweet them:
Hello @coinbase - I'm a customer and fan of your service. I would be an even bigger fan if you added $XRP to your Buy/Sell, it's a perfect fit. @Ripple

    My thoughts on Ripple (XRP)

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 03:57 PM PST

I don't claim to be an expert, just a normal dude watching crypto for a few years. I thought I would share my take on Ripple.

People claim Ripple is shit because it's cheap, like ¥27/$.25 each and won't make them a millionaire overnight.

In my view, the AMEX adoption is a huge step.

This is just the start, I read the Bank of England, among other national banks, are running test nets to check the validity if the platform for fit in their business model.

There is a group of all the major Japanese Banks (and Koreans too I believe) doing the same thing.

Arab banks too are looking into it.

Now, one reason people moan is 38 billion coins.....compared to 21 million bitcoin. Right?

Amex is first, lets say visa and MasterCard follow, that several national banks follow and the conglomerates mentioned...

My understanding is that they will use xrp for their liquidity.

So a Japanese bank will trade with a Korean bank, for example, in XRP.

So, those 38 billion coins are going to disappear pretty quick when those businesses get involved.

Now here's why. I made a transaction in £ sterling to ¥ recently. It took 5 working days using tradition bank transfer.

I took a leap of faith and made the same value transfer yesterday using ripple.

It took a f-ing second, maybe two. I didn't even have time to start my stopwatch and it had arrived in Japan from London.

Traditional systems simple CANNOT compete, even bitcoin can't compete with that.

I was, simply put, astonished at my first real life usage of XRP.

I've been holding for some time, but now I see this vision in my head, if this continues I think ripple will be the crypto adopted by the mainstream business/banking industry.

That will drive it's value long term.

I'm thinking 5-10 years for example.

(Remember, all I offer is an opinion and my own experience and thoughts, nothing more)

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 03:12 PM PST

    Just joined the XRP club!

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 02:37 PM PST

Even though I've been lurking on crypto Reddits for all of two days after emerging from my own research on things and beginning investing just a week ago, I have been totally grateful to the insights, info, and personalities on these subs. Just snagged 150.01XRP and looking to buy more in the future.

You all will be seeing me around here more often moving forward, I just wanted to say thanks and express how excited I am to dive further into crypto investing and finance in general.

    Cheers!

    What I like about ripple

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 04:50 PM PST

I like that ripple gives us a finger to point at if something goes wrong with it. We have a company that is legal and we know who the CEO is. I love bitcoin and other crypto currencies in general but they're really isn't a single group we can blame if something doesn't go wrong.

    Edit: right to wrong

If Ripple's target is mainly b2b, where did the XRP on exchanges come from?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 11:08 AM PST

It's something I haven't found an answer to. If Ripple doesn't support personal use of XRP (yet), where did all the XRP's that we buy and sell on exchanges come from?

Which one is more likely to happen: Ripple taking over bank payment system and signing most institutions or swift adapting blockchain tech and keeping its dominant position?

My take on why ripple is dependent on bitcoin currently

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 06:14 PM PST

I think it's mainly due to the fact that we have to go through bitcoin to get ripple. We can't trade it for usd easily. Which brings up a question I've been having. How does ripple enter circulation?

How would another GFC/recession affect the price of XRP?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 03:02 PM PST

Considering the GFC was the catalyst to crypto currency and assuming people turned to crypto because of a loss of confidence in the banking system, what would another GFC or recession do to the price of XRP? Ripple works with banks. Would it not negatively impact the price of XRP as opposed to other cryptos that tout the evilness of banks and the system?

I'm thinking people will run from banks to crypto and gold as a safe store of value.

    My 100% bet on XRP

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 09:26 AM PST

My bet on XRP is this: BTC can not really be used as a currency, when people realize this they are going to look for a crypto that does, XRP is the best positioned coin for this, this will be in the next 6 months

    Ripple comparison to IOTA

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 05:20 PM PST

Curious to hear your thoughts on the fact that IOTA has 36x less coins that XRP but is already at a $1. People say XRP won't get over $2, but if we pay close attention to IOTA's public valuation and apply some commonality to their value, I would think Ripple could easily compete since they also solve a real world issue past IoT. Seeing that Ripple is already 5x of $1/36 ($0.05) you could reason that XRP could be as high as $5 because of its "value" in the problems it solves.

Why don't we promote XRP as a P2P currency? Why does it have to be strictly B2B?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2017 11:05 PM PST

I don't get why XRP is just seen as a bank-to-bank coin. It's extremely fast with nearly nonexistent fees even for micro-transactions yet it's not really seen as a peer-to-peer coin.

    Any reason why?

    Good Forum

    Posted: 20 Nov 2017 07:22 AM PST

I wanted to thank the contributors on this subreddit for many quality posts. I have been lurking a while and find this subreddit to be one of the most rational crypto subreddits I have come across.

I find that the Ripple project takes some more work to understand than many other cryptocurrency projects, but from what I have learned it is one of the projects with the most tangible promise over the next 12-24 months.

I bought in at $0.22 recently and added some today at 24c, and look forward to the next 12 months+ in this project.
