I'm going to make a site about LTC for the masses.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2017 02:20 AM PST

I'm a web dev and aspiring creative and am looking for a project to start in the next month or two. I figure Litecoin to be as good a cause as any, as a crypto evangelist and owner.

The purpose is that I'm fed up of talking to friends or family about it and getting blank stares either because they don't understand or, more likely, i'm explaining it poorly.

So, my plan was to make an engaging and user friendly guide on Litecoin. There's a few key topics I thought I would cover based on information already out there and collaborate it into one attractive page/site.

Good idea or waste of time? Would be good to get any decent suggestions on things I must add other than the obvious: What is cryptocurrency? What is LTC? etc

It may end up getting very few views but if I can send it to friends and maybe get it stickied here and a few others places then thats good enough for me.

The FCC is about to kill net neutrality. We’re protesting nationwide on Dec 7th to stop them.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2017 01:28 PM PST

tldr: The FCC is about to kill net neutrality. We're protesting nationwide on Dec 7th to stop them. Head over to http://www.verizonprotests.com/ for more info.

WHAT'S HAPPENING? The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) just announced its plan to slash net neutrality rules, allowing ISPs like Verizon to block apps, slow websites, and charge fees to control what you see & do online. They vote December 14th. People from across the political spectrum are outraged, so we're planning to protest at Verizon retail stores across the country on December 7, one week before the vote and at the peak of the busy Holiday shopping season. We'll demand that our members of Congress take action to stop Verizon's puppet FCC from killing net neutrality.

WHAT'S NET NEUTRALITY? Net neutrality is the basic principle that has made the Internet into what it is today. It prevents big Internet Service Providers (like Verizon) from charging extra fees, engaging in censorship, or controlling what we see and do on the web by throttling websites, apps, and online services.

WHY VERIZON STORES? The new chairman of the FCC, Ajit Pai, is a former top lawyer for Verizon, and the company has been spending millions on lobbying and lawsuits to kill net neutrality so they can gauge us all for more money. By protesting at Verizon stores, we're shining light on the corruption and demanding that our local do something about it. Only Congress has the power to stop Verizon's puppet FCC, so at the protests we'll be calling and tweeting at legislators, and in cities where it's possible we'll march from Verizon stores to lawmakers offices.

WHAT ARE OUR DEMANDS? Ajit Pai is clearly still working for Verizon, not the public. But he still has to answer to Congress. So we're calling on our lawmakers to do their job overseeing the FCC and speak out against Ajit Pai's plan to gut Title II net neutrality protections and give Verizon and other giant ISPs everything on their holiday wishlist.

HOW CAN I JOIN? Click here and you'll find an interactive map where you can see if there is already a protest planned near you. If not, you can sign up to host one, and we'll send you materials to make it easy and help you recruit others in your area. These protests will be quick, fun, and 100% legal. If you can't attend a protest on December 7th, you can still help defend net neutrality by calling your lawmakers and spreading the word on social media. You can also sign up to host a meeting with your members of Congress, or volunteer for our texting team to help turn people out for these protests.

Does atomic swap require on chain transaction every time you make a swap (say for example a transaction swap from BTC to LTC for coffee)?

Essentially can Litecoin's bigger blocks along with atomic swaps solve Bitcoin's scaling problem?

    Litecoin and the HODLer philosophy

    Posted: 22 Nov 2017 10:01 AM PST

Since I have seen questions come up on this sub in just a few short weeks of being here I wanted to share some thoughts as a new hodler and maybe shed some light on what a good philosophy for wealth accumulation looks like to newer players or younger guys... at least as far as my philosophy goes.

Additionally a fresh perspective might give a jumping off point for us to grow litecoin. Charlie's vision is good but we as hodlers ARE NOT bystanders or at least we shouldn't be.

Point 1. HODLers are greedy and that is good... to a point.

This is not a get rich quick scheme and it shouldn't be. All the pump and dumps I've seen in just a couple months are what lead me to LTC over other options. I'm not looking for the get rich quick I am looking for the healthy growth of investment over time.

I am greedy. I want this horse to win over other horses. If we HODL our litecoins and litecoin continues to grow and get widespread adoption then we all stand to win as HODLers. Standard S/D table understanding so long as the demand continues to increase. BTC is looking at meteoric rise due to the slue of new investment while HODLers HODL.

Point 2. How to increase demand as a HODLer.

So you want to HODL and you want others to as well eh? So what exactly are you doing to ensure this happens? Me I tell all the people that want to make a good living for themselves to invest in Litecoin. Here are the responses I've received and how I have overcome objections:

    • Its a pyramid scheme - If it were a pyramid scheme with your buy in I would profit more greatly and you would have to build a larger foundation under you to profit in the same way. If you bought as much LTC as me we would profit in THE EXACT same way. Fundamentally different.

    • Its too risky - Yes there is risk but this technology and this coin in particular show natural steady growth, clear vision, and the community doesn't appear to be insane like other coins. Stock market could crash, real estate bubble could burst, etc. and all of these have happened in the past. This is a good and smart diversification of overall wealth. Buy stocks, invest IRA, 401k match, and buy LTC.

    • Why not BTC? - BTC is a good investment too. LTC and BTC seem interlinked and growing more interlinked continuously with LTN adoption. I bought both and recommend you do the same. LTC seems like a larger growth potential when cross-compared.

    • Why not gold? - Are you a bearded guy with a pick-axe? Gold will always hold value especially in recession, but gold is becoming more and more cumbersome to deal in and the loss when trying to convert to other currencies/commodities quickly is unacceptable and clumsy.

If you want your family and friends to be happily comfortable like you hope to be some day isn't it your obligation to tell them about it?

Point 3. How to increase business demand as a greedy greedy HODLer:

So you want businesses to accept LTC eh? Imagine I have no idea what LTC is and am a business owner. Not too hard considering few people know or understand even BTC right? Now also imagine that I have been doing well in business accepting cash and credit for years. Now in walks a customer that says "I want you to accept my LTC for goods and services." What exactly is that business' motivation, especially if you already shop there with the aforementioned currencies? Why would anybody adopt a form of payment without understanding? Sounds like a great way to shoot yourself in the foot as a business owner right? The statement you should really be making is, "I want to pay you in cash, but I want my change in LTC." Now that is a powerful statement! I don't want this shitty fiat. I want LTC. Or "if I am paying you in LTC I want a discount because my LTC is way more valuable than cash." Another powerful statement.

If that business then wants to engage you in discussion because you have their ear, give them some simple reasons you already know why!

    Point 4. Wrapping thoughts:

One of the few things that I don't see from this sub and from LTC in general is a fervor to get it growing. Slow and steady only wins the race if the gap isn't so bad. As silly as some of the commenters on BTC or BCH are man are they out in the streets in force! Posting memes doesn't help but maybe post to facebook or tweet your favorite business with some frequency. Invite people to this sub for discussion and participate. Starbucks grew from nothing to huge on the backbone of grassroots word of mouth and good marketing. I am not saying we should follow the same model but we sure as hell shouldn't ignore it.

The Long Term Potential of Litecoin

    Posted: 21 Nov 2017 08:26 PM PST

Hey guys. I want to keep this short but to the point because in my honest opinion this is the way we maximize Litecoin's potential in the long term.

First of all, you are throwing money away if you are sending Bitcoin to exchanges instead of Litecoin. The transaction fees on Litecoin are pennies versus Bitcoin which can be up to $10 or more. Every Litecoin supporter has the responsibility of spreading this knowledge to people because there are more and more newcomers to the cryptocurrency community every day. Quite a few will become altcoin traders, so why not teach them early that transferring money with Litecoin is fundamentally way smarter and way more efficient than using Bitcoin. Also, there is no other currency that is easier to buy using fiat, AND has as much adoption as Litecoin on exchanges and from merchants!

For me, I fell in love with Litecoin because the fees were way less and transaction times were incredibly fast compared to Bitcoin. From what I've read on this sub, it is that same reason that many people support Litecoin. The best way to give Litecoin a bright future in this market is through 1) people talking about it and 2) usage.

The leading cryptocurrencies coming out of this market will not have the best technology. We can see this with Bitcoin. It will be the ones with the most adoption and trust that survive long term. Litecoin easily has both of these boxes checkmarked since it has been around for so long, and this community is continuously growing. Atomic swaps and Lightning Network are going to be huge for Litecoin. Everyone here should be looking forward to the next few months

A guide to recovering your LTC from Loafwallet Seedkeys.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2017 12:48 AM PST

Unfortunately, the loafwallet is having some issues for some users.

This is a guide that will help you recover your litecoins for those who are feeling anxious although I'm confident the LF will be able to resolve the issue.

    What you need

    1. Seed keys
    2. Computer
    3. The ability to disconnect from the internet for security purposes.
    4. Electrum-ltc

    The Steps

    1. Go to this github and click on "Clone/download". You can choose zip or desktop. I chose zip.
    2. Turn off your wifi or access to the internet.
    3. Open the bip-standalone.html file. It should appear on your browser.
    4. Type in your seed keys in the BIP39 Mnemonic section
    5. Switch btc to ltc under "coin"
    6. Click on the BIP32 tab.
    7. Set the "BIP32 Derivation Path" to m/0'/0 and it should list your addresses below
    8. Set the "BIP32 Derivation Path" to m/0'/1 and it should list your change addresses below
    9. Look for the addresses you sent your litecoins to. Copy and paste that onto a doc. Same with your private keys.
    10. Close the standalone .html web page and turn on your wifi.
    11. Open Electrum-ltc. Go to Wallet-> Private Keys-> Sweep.
    12. Input your LTC address and private key.

You now have access to your litecoins.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2017 07:13 AM PST

    Hi all

I know this is an LTC hub but I wanted to know everyone's opinion of alternate exchanges (besides coinbase). Coinbase only allows BTC, ETH and LTC. I would like to venture into the world of ICO's and tokens. Is there a reputable exchange that has a great track record that you would recommend?

    Transaction Not Verified

    Posted: 22 Nov 2017 08:49 AM PST

    Hey guys,

So I transferred some LTC to my LTC Electrum wallet and everything was looking fine and dandy and I got 361 confirmations and now since this morning under the transaction date within my wallet it says "Not Verified"

    https://imgur.com/a/kNmao

Could someone please explain what is going on? Are my coins in my wallet and will I be able to at a later date send them back? I want to send the rest of my coins to my wallet because I am a little iffy about keeping them on Coinbase but this has me feeling a little weary.

Any information would be appreciated thanks!
