Explaining BCH to my dad in a dream

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 05:03 AM PST

**Sharing a literal dream here because it's stuck with me all day.**

Had a dream last night where I'm with my dad in my family's old garage. The TV is on, and the news starts talking about Bitcoin.

As with anything financial related, my dad listens intently. He then turns to me and asks, "What's up with this Bitcoin?" I explain that it's a decentralized way of having more power over your finances, whether you decide to spend or save it. He questions how nothing can be that easy and that there must be a margin, to which I reply something along the lines of, "With Bitcoin Cash, the transaction fee is miniscule. It's meant to be used to sent and received." I show him a recent transaction with the fee on my phone. He's engaged and sounds genuinely interested.

I wake up. My dad died in 2017 the month Bitcoin split. He would've undoubtedly been interested in Bitcoin Cash and its uses cases.

    Sauce

I just saw bitcoin "roundtable" - funny by the way, good joke :) announcement, as community wants higher block size by now, this problem should be first priority now. I have few concerns about it. I think it's the best place to talk about this, since most of threads started on /r/Bitcoin become censored very fast, not sure why not sure by who exactly. But let's move strictly to my questions if we all want Bitcoin to succeed and not be only source of income for Chinese miners with cheap technology and electricity. We all must agree that block size is mostly full by now, and in case any dynamical price change or/and new users boom - bitcoins will be very hard to transfer with reasonable fee, also bitcoin may lose chance to be adopted and used by new users.

1.Why force SW before changing blocksize to 2mb as temporary fix ? HF code to 2mb is already created, implemented and tested in Bitcoin Classic, it's very simple change, I think SegWit needs much more time to test and reveal potential bugs and risks.
2.If core team, really needs so much time to implement HF, why static solution - which will only change date when block size problem re-occur. We should implement dynamic solution for instance based on previous blocks (but there are some few other interesting bips also) And please don't say anything about disk space and centralization, disk space is cheap, and become cheaper and cheaper from year to year. Internet connection speed also shouldn't be a problem, just look back what we had few years ago. Satoshi couple times mentioned that bitcoin wouldn't grow faster than technology will, and nothing currently points that's not true.

And to make it clear, seg wit is great but it's not mainly scaleability benefits, it's much more complicated change than simply change blocksize (even it's HF) and more reasonably would be do HF with dynamic block size solution, and then very carefully without hurry test and release segwit.

We should give tribute to those who had voiced the core principles of Satoshi in protest as Bitcoin was being derailed off the course of being a currency, in order for Bitcoin Cash to have existed.

“If someone wants to make a $100 stablecoin remittance on Ethereum, it'll cost $25 in fees. Yikes. Layer 2 transfers are cheaper. But it costs $122 to bridge $100 to L2 (Polygon). Can people who need to make frequent remittances to their home country afford this technology?”

    Referral systems for BCH?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2022 11:29 AM PST

What businesses offer referral systems in BCH specifically?

We should try to get a mass of people to bring people to BCH in this way.

Lot's of companies used to do this with BTC, or still offer small amounts of BTC that aren't even usable due to network fees. Two examples that come to mind are Purse.io and Coinbase.

Are there any that payout in BCH that we can promote today?

~1 DAY LEFT to take the Electron Cash desktop user interface survey (& enter to win 0.25 BCH!)

    Posted: 10 Jan 2022 01:59 PM PST

If you use the Electron Cash desktop wallet, we'd like to know more about how you use it. We assembled this relatively short survey (10-15 minutes) to find out what features you've used before, and which you haven't.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered to win 0.25 BCH. The survey will be accepting responses until end-of-day tomorrow (Tuesday Jan 11th).

    Some quick notes:

-All of the screenshots are taken on OSX (Apple Macintosh computers), but your user interface should be almost identical.

-We recommend opening Electron Cash while taking the survey in case you don't recognize any of the features we're asking about.

-Many of the questions just ask you to check which features you've used before. If you've ever used it, please check it!

-Some other questions ask about frequency. It's up to you to decide how often "Often" is, but try to think of it in relation to how often you open the program.

Thanks for your help and support!
