El Salvador's President Asks the Fed to Stop Printing Money

Who else just sits on the side watching everyone stress over short term price movements while you're going long (10 years minimum)?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 12:51 PM PST

I constantly see posts of "Bitcoiner's" stressing and obsessing over the price! Who really cares if it's $50k, $55k, or $200k?

If you really, and I mean REALLY believe in Bitcoin, and that it's the future, then why don't you just buy, put it in cold storage, and repeat?

So many posts from individuals over complicating things for no reason..

Here's a quote that stuck .. "The hardest thing for any human is to just do nothing" .. Implying that you already bought Bitcoin, but now feel it's not enough, and you have to do something risky to try and double it by putting it into some shitcoin, hoping it explodes!

I'm asking because i'm genuinely curious to know..

Satoshi's indelible legacy is that he showed us you don't need to have money or influence or curry favor with the "big club" to change the world

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 07:36 AM PST

Satoshi identified the root of all evil in the world - a hierarchical monetary system predicated on trust. He then worked assiduously for two years to fix it. Once he did, he walked away, keenly cognizant of the imperative that the trustless revolution he set in motion did not itself suffer for a locus of trust.

Pace every great inventor, there has never been, in my humble opinion, a more inspirational, more impactful human endeavor, no less from someone we'll never learn anything more of, save for what he allowed us to learn through his... Proof of Work.

Satoshi brought to the mainstream the high-minded cypherpunk ethos of judging every individual solely on the merits of their mind rather than mien.

As I today observe assorted rent-seeking affinity scams cynically exploit the rationally vulnerable by mischaracterizing blockchain for regulatory arbitrage, seeking to fob off fundamentally flawed, hideously centralized protocols as decentralized innovation through intellectually dishonest marketing & social engineering chicanery, I couldn't help reflect on the irony that all this deceit was enabled by the greatest act of altruism from a man who never sought any investments or patents and never so much as made a dime from his invention - arguably the most seminal technological breakthrough in history.

It would seem we're no wiser now than we were 20 years ago, when these rent-seekers usurped the internet - originally a decentralized P2P network protocol, just like Bitcoin.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

IMO this is the best way to safely store your seed phrase keys

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 07:34 AM PST

    1. Choose a book that's written in native English and fairly modern (so wording doesn't change between publications or translations). Ideally something less know, yet accessible. Distinctive cover would help to distinguish specific publication, for better accuracy.

    2. Simply find all your seed phrase words chronologicaly in that book and make a note of them such as: 1024, 86, 11234, 501, 99, 23005, 788, 102567, 7654, 766, 12266, 9011

    3. Now you can keep those numbers quite in the open and in different places because all you ever have to memorise now it what book is the key to unlock the phrase.

I strongly believe this very simple method is most ideal as you only have to memorise one thing. Even if someone gets a hold of your numbers, they first would have to realise what it is and then know what book unlocks it.

For you, you can have unlocking numbers in few places (never losing them) and only would have to get hold of unlocking book when you need it.

Finding the words might take hours yes, but it's still better than losing them forever and this method is for hodlers, who want to keep it long time and will not access it too often.

For extra security you could say that the 1st word to start counting is actually a 10th word or something. That would make it even more impossible to decode and you'd still have just two things to memorise.

For those asking: Will we ever see Bitcoin at $10K?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 09:29 PM PST

Bitcoin price is closely correlated with Adoption/Network-effect. So asking that it would be like asking:

"Will we see the Internet/computers/electricity adoption at 10% again?

    The obvious answer: Fuck no!

(*unless there is a total collapse of civilization, in which case Bitcoin will be the least of your worries).

Creating a cold wallet using an old air-gapped android phone or computer

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 01:42 PM PST

Is this a reasonably secure alternative to buying a cold-storage device for long-term hodling?

    1. Download the Electrum app (or similar) using an old android phone (or computer)
    2. Disconnect the device from the internet
    3. Create a wallet and secure the seed words+phrase
    4. Fund the wallet
    5. Delete the app and wipe the device to the original factory settings

Anyone could recommend me a “Cold wallet”? Or any good way to store in long term?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2021 04:56 AM PST

Hello, I have few shatoshi from 2019.

I don't plan to add or spend anything, I just want to store them in a safe way for a long term.

I would love to know what do you use and what you recommend me.

I don't know much about storages in general neither what is recomendable for a non-target person, I just have some of them laying around and I think it could be a better way to store them.

Only for BTC, I don't use others.

    Thanks.

At today's price 1 Bitcoin == 1 Kilogram of Gold.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 07:58 PM PST

At around ~$57,200 USD. One Bitcoin can fetch you 1 Kilogram of Gold. Not that I want that shiny yellow rock. But we have come a long way.

In 5 years Bitcoin's superior deflation, stock 2 flow & adoption, should get us to 10 Kilogram of Gold.
