Is the 3060ti still the best hash rate for the price? Posted: 26 Nov 2021 10:00 AM PST I know that this used to be the case before the LHR cards were released. Is this still accurate? Or has another card taken over in terms of best hash rate vs cost? [link] [comments]
Is a crypto dip good for miners? Posted: 26 Nov 2021 06:04 AM PST I'm new to the world of mining but have been a long time crypto holder. My Q is: is a significant pullback in coin values good for miners who mine for long term holdings? (Traditionally does the pullback benefit with a drop in mining difficulty?) [link] [comments]
How to save GPUs from dust, and how to clean them? Posted: 26 Nov 2021 05:16 AM PST Hi, Been mining for half a year now. Rig is getting dusty. Mostly the metal cooling sinks below the fans. The dust is clearly visible and touchable. First question, what can I do to prevent my rigs from dust? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Thoughts on rtx A4000 vs rtx3090 Posted: 26 Nov 2021 02:46 AM PST Seems like a beast of a card. Almost 60mhs eth @125watts. Efficiency of .47mh per watt. It's not lhr and I have been able to find at $1600 Canadian a card. It's weird to say but that sounds reasonable at today's prices. Best part yet is you can actually get your hands on it. I know cooling looks to be a bit of an issue...what are your thoughts on this card for the longterm? Is eth2.0 going to adversely affect one more? My thoughts are that 2 of these are equal to a 3090 but they require less power! Which one would you prefer? And why? 2x3090 or 4xA4000? [link] [comments]
How would you test a mined GPU that you were buying face to face? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 10:33 AM PST I've bought a few cards over the years, that I tested at the dude's place. I take a bootable USB drive with Strelec on it, just in case the person is on Linux or whatever, and I run OCCT for a few minutes. Any tips on top of this are appreciated. [link] [comments]
My GPU is not getting detected on hiveOS only Posted: 26 Nov 2021 12:08 AM PST Hi, need some help. One of my cards which is a 3070 FHR Palit does not work when I plug it into my HIVEOS rig (it is not detected). But when I plug it in my gamer pc it is detected and I also tested to mine with nicehash and it works under windows. But on hives no detection. It is not a problem of riser, pcie cable or pcie port since I removed the card and put another card on the same riser and the card was getting detected. * And even when I plug it directly on the motherboard without riser it does not work It is also not a 4g encoding problem since myself when I just encounter this card on the rig it is not detected. What do you think is the problem and please can someone help me with a solution ??!! [link] [comments]

HiveOS recommended payment through CoinPayments is utter crap Posted: 25 Nov 2021 01:58 PM PST I'm a pretty small miner, with only 9 GPUs on 2 rigs. Because I'm on 2 rigs now I get charged for operating using hiveOS. It's still relatively inexpensive costing only about 5 cents per day per rig. I had a small amount of BTC on an exchange I figured I'd use - the $25 or so in BTC would last me quite some time. So I sent it over from Coinbase for a small fee. Total BTC moved to CoinPayments was .00046 or something like that. Now I go to move it to hiveOS to find my fees only to discover CoinPayments has a minimum transaction fee of .0004 BTC, which is around $20. An absolutely absurd fee to send it, and leaving me with pocket lint to pay for hiveos. Now I can't send it anywhere without eating that big ass transaction fee and it's not enough to really find my little farm for much time at all. I feel like an idiot. This is a PSA. Don't use that shit payment option. [link] [comments]
Two 6 slot motherboards or one 12 slot motherboard? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 04:09 PM PST So I've been stocking up on a few RTX 3080 and I'm looking at what I need to put together a mining rig. I have the space for up to 15 GPUs (at max), so I'm looking at the safest and most cost effective solution. Where I'm stuck, is with the motherboard. I see many individuals with a few mining rigs, each 6-8xGPU, but I also see 12 and 13 gpu mobos available online. Is there any reason why 2 smaller motherboards is better than 1 larger? (Cost aside) I'm also looking at some specific 12 gpu B250 motherboards online that seem a little too cheap, am I missing something here? How much does the motherboard quality matter? Any advice in this area is greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]
Sold cards from my first ever rig today.. ! Posted: 25 Nov 2021 11:14 AM PST today finalised the deal to sell all 5 cards from my first rig bough almost 1 year ago. what a journey it was from total noob to having 30 cards mining ETH. now eyeing rtx 2070 to replace my RX 580 SP2048 just for making myself future proof. for anyone curious enough.. bought a used complete rig of 5 cards for $ 2570 back in January. today sold just the cards for $ 2340. only sad thing is i'll be 157 MHs less for few weeks until i can get hold of very very expensive 2070s. Using PCIE Splitters in 1x Slots Posted: 25 Nov 2021 02:40 PM PST Hey all, some mining friends of mine and myself were having a conversation regarding using 1 -> 4 PCIE splitters, what sized slots on the motherboard they worked with, and how many PCIE lanes they took up. I've had experience using them in 1x slots on a B250 mining expert and my friend has had experience using them in 1x slots on a Z170, but another was saying that they ran in to trouble using them in a B350 1x slot. What have been your experiences? Is there a consensus on what causes boards to support splitters in 1x ports and what don't? Let's talk about it, and happy Thanksgiving! [link] [comments]
Can I add flux to the profit switching platform in my Awesome Miner? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 10:28 AM PST Hello all and happy thanksgiving! TLDR: How can I add Flux (via MinerPool, using Gminer and a Zelcore wallet) to the auto profit switching platform in awesome miner? I started mining Flux via Gminer by setting it manually in the Gminer bat file, AND by running the bat file manually. However until today I always used the profit switcher in Awesome Miner. Thanks in advance for your help! [link] [comments]

RTX 3080 LHR IN NBMINER 40.1, LOLMINER 1.36A, GMINER 2.72, TREX MINER 0.24.7 Posted: 25 Nov 2021 12:46 AM PST Tested the RTX 3080 LHR in NBMINER v40.1, LOLMINER v1.36A, GMINER v2.72 and TREX MINER v0.24.7, at 1300 and 1700 memory clock. I have seen many clock the core at 1085 and getting 76.1 MH/s. However, sure, I can get that too at peak, but the average is actually closer to 72 MH/s over time. Fastest reported hashrate average I got was 78.7 MH/s. Check the full video here: https://youtu.be/yQsJD3TwO1Q If you have a RTX 3080 of any kind, what do you clock your memory at? I changed the thermal pads as soon as I got mine and I can actually run stable at 1800 in Windows. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 07:41 AM PST I have a dedicated mining rig where I'm using TRex miner and thus tuned all gpus for max efficiency. I also have multiple gaming PCs with dedicated gpus but was only using NiceHash + Afterburner to set clocks. Decided to switch all of those PCs over to TRex miner.. what a huge difference!!! Moral of the story, don't utilize afterburner for mining clocks, it works, but not as efficient. I know many of you know this, but I can't say it enough and it's good for beginners to see posts like this. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Nov 2021 11:48 AM PST Anyone know if there sre any MSRP sales of GPUs this coming Friday?? Willing to stand in line... I know Best Buy had sales now and then, but i hadn't heard if they are going to be doing a sale for Friday. Any other drops? Thanks all [link] [comments]
