Posted: 05 Oct 2021 08:13 AM PDT I unfornately have to switch to wifi until my new house gets hardwired into my mining room. Since switching to a BrosTrend ACL5, my stales went from 0.4% to 0.8%. Can anyone recommend a usb wifi adapter that gave them very low stales? [link] [comments]

RTX 3060 backplate cooling mod and ERGO hashrate Posted: 05 Oct 2021 12:58 AM PDT I needed new thermal pads and paste for some of my RTX 3060 V1 cards, as they are starting to get a bit toasty. While shopping around on Amazon I stumbled on some thermal tape, which gave me the idea of adding pads and heatsinks to the backplate of one of my new RTX 3060 LHR V2 cards. Of course, since I missed playing around with hardware, I ordered everything I needed to fix my old cards and to mod my new card :) It was easy to mod it, as its just a backplate mod. I removed the fan shroud to get to the backplate screws, removed the backplate and added thermal pads and 3 heatsinks. After that little mod, my hashrate went from 119.1 MH/s in ERGO to 123.4 MH/s. Of course, being stupid, I added a 4th heatsink and a fan. After that I managed to get a hashrate hovering around 125 MH/s. However the day after I lowered my mem, as it felt a bit unsafe haha... Before mod (119 MH/s): After mod (123.4 MH/s, which I am still using): After mod (125 MH/s): The video can be found here: https://youtu.be/xP5lQ7uJUK0 I am curious, have you modded your GPU? Replaced thermal pads? If yes, what improvements did you see? All my RTX 3060s seem to be very hot, compared to how many watts they eat. [link] [comments]

Vertical GPU enclosure? Anyone? Posted: 04 Oct 2021 07:53 PM PDT Request permission to ask a dumb question. I have been looking at pictures of mining rigs here for a couple years. Some have homemade plywood setups, others aluminum T-Slot units but almost all have the GPU's in the same horizontal orientation they would have in a standard ATX case. Now we all know heat rises. Has anyone to date made a vertical chimney octagon that just allows the cards to be placed vertically - with risers on the outside to allow the heat to escape better? This would allow the high PCI X1 density motherboard to be on a shelf below the base along with the power supply/supplies and a large (lawn) blower. Cable management would be very easy. Just curious. It seem very logical and anythig you can do to "untrap" the heat and keep it moving away is a good thing. PC's were built in the form factor they were to sit on a desktop. Blade servers of course are different and not generally expandable. Laptops have their own form factors as well. Now if you do this the second opportunity is to capture that heat. I did see some folks ducting it into their homes. Insane way to heat your house but I suppose its better than splitting an atom to boil water. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Oct 2021 07:01 PM PDT Anyone know of an affordable metal frame for the BTC-37, BTC-S37, BTC-D37 series motherboards? All of the open-air frames that I find are made for boards with risers. [link] [comments]
Mining pools at offer auto-convert? Posted: 04 Oct 2021 05:48 PM PDT Does anyone have a list of mining pools that offer auto-convert to a different coin to that which is being mined? I.e., mine Eth and get payouts in a different coin? Currently I only know of ZergPool and Mining Pool Hub but I'm sure there must be more. I'm actually after a pool at handles auto-convert from Eth to ADA, but for this post, just a list of auto-convert pools would be most helpful. [link] [comments]
Saying goodbye to windows and Nicehash Posted: 04 Oct 2021 01:59 PM PDT Def not new to linux. Is hive the best choice for LHR v2 cards. Or can i run something on like a debian install. I have a b450 motherboard tomahawk that doesn't seem to like more then 4 cards. Random reboots and wake stuff going on in windows. driving me nuts. Would like option to mine other coins beside eth. I'm not hating on nicehash and will continue to use it on my gaming computer. [link] [comments]
CPU EPS12V 8pin to 2x PCIE 6+8pin - max wattage? Posted: 04 Oct 2021 12:24 PM PDT Currently powering risers with my EPS12v CPU outs from my PSU with an adapter to 2x 6+2pin PCIE pins. I am powering 3 risers with each CPU out via this adapter and one 8 pin to 6+2 pin PCIE splitter, so approximately ~225 wattage draw. I am out of VGA slots, looking to power a card (2080ti) with one of these CPU PSU slots. Is it feasible? Safe? [link] [comments] |
