[Emergency Proposal] Remove users from moon distribution due to bypassing karma limits

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 03:10 AM PDT

    5th October daily right here

    _____________________________________

It has recently come to the moderators attention that two of the top users this month have been operating multiple accounts in order to bypass the karma limits on this subreddit. These users are:

    u/WackyMister

    u/Imaginary-Cow25

I won't share many details on how this has been identified but the moderation team and myself have no doubts this is the same user, using multiple accounts to bypass the 15k karma limit. As you can see below, those two users (or shall I say this user) have a lot of similarities in writing style

    https://imgur.com/a/8wgniqW

    https://imgur.com/a/2qQNna3

These are not the only evidence there is, moderators have many other evidences that won't be disclosed on here for obvious reasons.

Keep in mind, these users are not banned just for having a very similar writing style. The examples cited above are just a tiny sample. Writing style is not the only thing moderators look for, but it's the most visual thing to share to everyone on here.

While this user may have been permanently banned from this subreddit, we still need an emergency proposal to remove this user from distribution or 20158 karma or 5422 moons will still be distributed to this user on October 6th.

This subreddit have very strict rules on using multiple accounts to bypass the karma cap, or otherwise game the system in an effort to earn more moons. Rule 3 is "No Manipulation" and that counts for bypassing Governance rules for the subreddit.

By passing this poll, it will remove the above accounts from the current distribution, ensuring they do not receive the final moons allocated for their posts and comments in snapshot 18. The methodology to address problem users has been laid out by Reddit admins.

Removing these users means the moon distribution ratio will go from 0.26923 to 0.27013 or in other words, the ratio will increase by 0.335%

Griffin Sees Crypto-Mania as ‘Jihadist Call’ Against Dollar. We are terrorists now guys.

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 04:06 PM PDT

Bill Gates said “The way cryptocurrency works today allows for certain criminal activities. It’d be good to get rid of that”. Crypto was not used to launder money according to Pandora papers. Its time for these people to swallow their words and be critical of traditional finance and the government.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 03:19 AM PDT

Pandora papers showed that people are using loopholes in tax laws to hide their wealth in tax havens to hide their wealth or ill gotten gains. They are not using cryptocurrency to do that, there are plenty of loopholes in tax laws for doing it legally.

The rich are holding properties and investments under a network of offshore companies that are set up in other countries, or "offshore".

These offshore countries or territories are where:

    - it's easy to set up companies

    - there are laws that make it difficult to identify owners of companies

    - there is low or no corporation tax.

The best part of it is that using tax havens to dodge taxes is not illegal. Loopholes in the law allow people to legally avoid paying some taxes by moving their money or setting up companies in tax havens, but it is often seen as unethical.

Its estimated that from $5.6 trillion to $32 trillion is hidden in tax havens, according to the ICIJ. The IMF has said the use of tax havens costs governments worldwide up to $600bn in lost taxes each year.

To hide money all you need to do set up a shell company in one of the countries or jurisdictions with high levels of secrecy. This is a company that exists in name only, with no staff or office. It costs money though. Specialist firms are paid to set up and run shell companies on your behalf. These firms can provide an address and names of paid directors, therefore leaving no trail of who is ultimately behind the business.

When such a huge amount of money is hidden in offshore havens, the rich still blames cryptocurrency as the culprit for money laundering. This is classic gaslighting. They are projecting and blaming the most vulnerable group, what they do themselves.

This legal way of tax dodging will never end because the people that could end the secrecy offshore are themselves benefiting from it. So there's no incentive for them to end it.

Its time more people speak up against this and move more towards cryptocurrency where all data is independently verifiable.

In the over 12,9 Million Documents and Terabytes of Data detailing how Billionaires and Politicians have avoided Taxes, Crypto is not used a Single Time

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 05:09 PM PDT

    Pandora Papers:

Terabytes of data, 12,9 million documents, all detailing how billionaires and over 300 corrupt politicians have avoided taxes:

And Crypto was not used a single time by them

How can it be that exactly the politicians who claim that crypto would be the main accelerator of financial crime and tax evasion have used exclusively the broken old financial system to do that which they blame crypto on supporting

With Bitcoin every single transaction would be transparent on the blockchain, everyone could see where all the money is going:

Wondering why they are so against it? The reason seems more obvious than ever

Anybody Else Have Absolutely No Idea What They Are Doing???

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 05:55 PM PDT

I was just thinking about how I got into projects like Avax, Sol, FTM, and ADA early enough to see a really nice profit. And all in all my portfolio is up enough that it is screenshot worthy.

But the thing is I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. It feels like I've just been throwing money into Cryptos just based of Reddit, Twitter or Youtubers tell me to buy. My research for Sol consisted of seeing a long Reddit post on this sub of someone shilling it and the thing was I didn't even read the post. I just looked at the length and thought if this guy went through the effort to type this long of a post it must be a good investment and a bought a couple thousand worth. A lot of my other positions in my portfolio are very similarly purchased.

Don't even get me started on the tech, at least half the positions in my portfolio I couldn't even tell you what they do or their use case. I just know I have made money off it

The saying that everybody is a genius in a bull run is sooo true. Any idiot can just make money right now(source: an idiot)

So to this sub that are not smooth brained like me, how do I go about doing your own research?

I think I'm going to take some profit and consolidation into stables right then just stick with BTC and ETH till I figure out what the hell I'm doing.

El Salvador gets a lot of attention around mining with Geothermal energy, Iceland has been doing it since the very beginning of bitcoin mining

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 10:45 PM PDT

El Salvador gets attention as if it is the newest thing ever and that mining with geothermal energy has never been done before. Why? Iceland has been using geothermal energy to mine cryptocurrencies since 2018, That's about 3-4 years ago.

And yes I know El Salvador is doing something about adoption of cryptocurrency (legal tender and stuff), that's good, but to me it's about why we think it's so special which has already been done 3-4 years ago.

Note: I love El Salvador and this is not an anti post or anything. I was just wondering why there is so much interest suddenly playing with geothermal energy mining.

Being in the green is more stressful than being in the red

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 01:01 AM PDT

So I started investing in august and through averaging down I'm now in the green. And I just realized how complicated it becomes when you are in the green.

A lot of people are saying: 'Take profits, take profits, you never know when the next dip is' but this is timing the market which I don't know how to do. I don't want to take money out which would exponentially make me lose profits on the way up.

Others are saying: 'never touch your bags until your target is achieved' but I wouldn't want to empty everything as soon as my target is achieved. Yes I'd like to buy a house or a flat at some point in my life and I'm very very far from there right now BUT I won't empty everything as soon as I have enough for a house. This would be counter productive.

When I'm in the red the solution is easy. Buy, buy, buy so you can average down. Nowadays the feeling of buying is different because I'm buying while already in the profits.

The only solution I found is to think I'm averaging up so that at the next dip I can really average down but it doesn't make much sense. This is why people blindly dca'ing have a better time. The decision making is very complicated.

What is for you, the most complicated time in the markets???

BTC took 96 Days to recover from the May Chinese FUD and only 9 Days to recover from the September Chinese FUD.

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 11:58 PM PDT

if you've been sticking with us since May, congratulations on not giving in to the FUD, and welcome to the start of another rally.

In the past couple of days, BTC has made an amazing recovery compared to other markets, due to the Evergrande situation. But I think the Chinese FUD needs more emphasizing to truly understand how strong the market is.

During the May Chinese FUD we crashed down by 50% in a week, and it took us 96 Days (3.1Months) to recover to somewhere in the price range.

But on the 20Th of September, we crashed yet again thanks to China by 16%, and BTC recovered back 18% within 9 days.

This is truly a remarkable recovery in my opinion and it shows investors are no longer worried about the Chinese FUDs.

We have also seen a massive increase in Defi solutions that aim to provide Chinese investors with an alternative solution to the ban.

TL;DR: BTC is resilient to Chinese F.U.D and we're witnessing diminishing results for China. Thus price goes up.

Ya'll need to stop bullying people for holding or buying the coins they want.

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 10:20 AM PDT

Way too many of you are bullying people just because they are holding coins like shib, doge, etc. Ya'll need to stop with this. It is their own money, not yours. They can hold or buy whatever they want because guess why. IT IS THEIR OWN GODDAMN MONEY AND YOU HAVE NO SAY TO THAT! So stop bullying and making them feel bad about their crypto purchases. Some of them might be new to crypto and some of them bought the coins for fun. No matter the reason, this does not give you the right to ridicule people in this sub. Stop trying to bully people into regretting the coins they bought. You want to invest in coins like bitcoin and ethereum, go ahead but do not forget, just because you are buying a coin doesn't give you the right to bully other people who buy other coins.

People are purchasing Meme Coins because they are flat out BROKE.

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 10:18 PM PDT

There is a popular misconception about people who purchase meme coins.

It is not that they are "stupid" or Ignorant of Crypto, in fact these meme coiners are some of the smartest people I see online. The real issue nobody really speaks about is the rampant poverty crises that is going on.

The umbilical cord between wage compensation and productivity has been cut all the way back in 1973 (at least in the US). Ever since then, wages have been stagnant and inflation continues to rise. The only generation that has benefited from "Hard work" is the boomer generation. If you are a Millennial or a Gen Z today, you can forget about purchasing a home with an normal salary.

Everything is going through the roof, this includes weddings, bills, homes and sadly even healthcare for some.

Meanwhile, we just had yet another group of puppeteers that have been exposed for legal tax evasion globally who will undoubtedly get away with it.

Considering the above hellhole, no wonder people are throwing what they can at these meme coins. Until a living wage is introduced worldwide and people can afford a roof over their heads, this won't stop.

You would need to downvote 1,426,382 times to receive an extra moon. If you are downvoting to try to earn extra moons, stop.

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 04:53 AM PDT

Let's do some math to determine how many times you would need to downvote in order to earn yourself an extra moon.

The average amount of Moons earned this round was 3.23, with the average karma at 12.

This means that to earn one extra moon, the Moon to karma ratio would have to increase to 0.3525

Since the amount of karma earned this snapshot was 6,038,064, the amount of karma in order to have a 0.3525 ratio would be: 4,611,682.

This means that the average person on this sub would have to downvote 1,426,382 times in order to receive an extra moon.

The moral of the story is that if you are downvoting to try to earn extra moons, stop. This moon manipulation is pointless and disheartening for people who try to post quality content. If a post fits the sub, upvote it. It's as simple as that.

Edit: And everything is downvoted to oblivion… 😑

It's official. The Accelerated Vesting Program is complete.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 03:52 AM PDT

The Algorand Foundation has confirmed that the program has now ended: https://algorand.foundation/news/accelerated-vesting-complete.

You can read about EIP-11252019AF here. It shows that the plan was to continue vesting until 2024, but Algorand has performed so well that we're already done before the end of 2021.

Approximately 200 million Algo still need to be paid out, which is why the circulating supply still says 6.1B not 6.3B. In any case, this marks the end of the bad tokenomics argument. Even with built-in inflation (since not all Algo is in circulation yet) it beats fiat inflation. Now that price suppression is over, and the governance program is about to start, the sky is the limit for Algorand.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 03:29 AM PDT

I believe it's important to have goals every time you invest. To not have goals I personally believe sets you up for failure as greed can set in or you are very likely to trade on emotion which can lead to FOMO.

So what are your goals? Do you have a certain % target in mind in which you want to take some profits?

Do you intend to just buy, HODL, potentially stake for years to come and not look at the price?

Are you planning to try and time the market and transfer back into USD or something and wait for the market to dip and then jump back in?

Whatever your plan I believe it's important to have your goals and aspirations and stick to them that way it gives you the best chance of success !

What do you guys think? Take care legends 👊

Yieldly is gaining functionality and has a nice sell wall for you to buy into

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 07:35 PM PDT

If you aren't familiar with yieldly.finance/ it is basically a launching pad for new Assets (aka coins or tokens) on the Algorand blockchain. Just recently they listed 2 new coins and are bringing 2 more.

The basic idea of the website is to get YLDY tokens, then stake them to get part of the pool reward. So you stake YLDY and get back some other token, such as the SMILE token or or OPUL.

Along with staking and getting rewards of these new coins, you can also enter into NFT drawings.

Just wanted to let people who might know of Algorand to see that there are other projects on the network that can even get you into some fairly new coins. In theory if they do well on Yieldly, then MexC (an exchange) will adopt it as something to sell.

Unlike other websites, I feel I am constantly checking Yieldly for the the changes in APY, ability to move between pools, and all these things are fairly cheap. If you haven't heard about it, I suggest you look into it.

Something to know is Algorand is entering into their first Gov cycle, which will pull a lot out. So while a sell wall is typically bad, it seems this wall isn't moving and with such a high APY for staking not only for YLDY, but for other coins makes this a great time to enter in and start staking these new projects.

Footnote: there is a NLL for staking Algorand which rewards you in YLDY anyway even if you lose.

Edit: Best way to buy YLDY is on the MexC exchange, which only needs a phone or email to register ( i did phone). Best to buy Algorand on your fav exchange, then move Algo to MexC, sell for USDT and buy YLDY, the fees in this process are very cheap. Once bought move back to wallet and stake.

Otherwise you can stake Algorand to get an APY in yieldly in the NLL.

SHIB on the rise but still a NO for me.

    Posted: 04 Oct 2021 02:19 PM PDT

People on their sub and Twitter are losing their minds right now because shib went up. People claiming a new all time high, I see a way bigger spike back when it first launched, but whatever, it's going up. A Twitter response claimed, we are about to be shibillionairs or something along those lines.

Look, there is no hate here, if you made or are making money, congrats. I just can't do it. The whole idea of meme coins has just become infuriating.

Ive spent a lot of time on this sub learning about different projects, listening to pros and cons. It's become really interesting to understand what projects do, what their utility is. Ive started to DCA into coins I believe in, ATOM, SOL, ETH, because I believe that regardless of market situations, their utility will help them continue growing.

Meme coins feel like playing the lotto. A lot of people love the lotto. I never play. I feel pretty strongly that I'm meant to earn money and invest, but not just luck into riches.

Again, congrats to anyone making money on any crypto, but I'll stick to my utility based bag of coins.

    Rant over, thanks 🙏
