The top post about the Ethereum supply shock is a misleading. Posted: 09 Oct 2021 01:05 PM PDT Hello everyone, There's a popular post on this subreddit that warns of an incoming Ethereum supply shock. I would just like to point out that the graph is a bit misleading. Yes, the Ethereum reserve in exchanges is dropping, but the post makes it seem far more dramatic than it is. Here's the link to the graph : https://cryptoquant.com/overview/eth-exchange-flows/278 The post (intentionally or not) omits the left axis, which clearly shows that the supply on exchanges went from 24M to 18M. Without the left axis, it would look like the reserves are dropping to zero, which is far from reality. I just wanted to point this out for a clearer image. People shouldn't blindly trust the information given to them, and always do your research. Your hard earned money is on the line. [link] [comments]
Altcoins will start pumping soon again. Not the ones you own though. Other ones. Posted: 09 Oct 2021 01:13 PM PDT Here is how the rest of the cycle will go: - BTC will pump first, while altcoins are lagging behind. Some altcoins, like Shiba Inu and Fantom will still pump, but of course you didn't own these. As soon as you buy in these coins, they dump. - The coins you're losing patience with will pump the hardest. About 30 seconds after you sell. - When the altcoin season starts, every coin will pump with 20% a day, but your coin just pumps with 2% and then dumps and never recovers. - If you buy the dip, it will dip further. If you sell the top, it will increase with 20% more the next day. Your best chance at winning in crypto is to just buy every coin and put most of your money in the shittiest of shitcoin. If you think: "I really hate this coin and its community", then buy that coin. This is how to win in crypto and in life. Nothing in this post is financial comedy. [link] [comments]
When the day comes, are you 100% out . Posted: 10 Oct 2021 01:47 AM PDT The year is 2026, your portfolio is up 5000x and you have enough money there to pay the mortgage, quit you job and tell your boss where to stick it, then ride off into the sunset in a lambo with your shiba by your side ... but my question is do you sell it all .... or just a percentage and stay involved with crypto ? When i first started i thought i would have no problem pulling the plug and walking away with my gains, but i love crypto and everything about it, so i doubt very much will ever cash everything in, i would take a large chunk of it absolutely, but i would keep a small bag so i can still play the game and stay involved with everything [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Oct 2021 03:21 PM PDT I see too many people hoping for a $10,000 chainlink of $1000 Cardano... That's not realistic at all. I saw another user post this tool 5 months ago and i use it all the time to compare cryptos. It tells you how much the crypto you like would be worth if it had the same market cap as bitcoin. It is very helpful at making you understand how little some would be worth even with a high market cap.. And that's even IF your crypto EVER reached a BTC market cap of 1 trillion for example. Here. For example: IF Cardano had the same market cap as bitcoin right now, it would be worth around $32.28... Very far from the promises of $1000 isn't it. Use the tool. Don't get wrecked and also understand that your low cap cryptos may never come near a market cap of 1 trillion. Here is the link: https://thecoinperspective.com/?c=XLM Good luck. Posted: 09 Oct 2021 08:15 PM PDT I'm following the self-proclaimed coolest dictator in the world on Twitter and man, so many mixed feelings on this one. But first let me get to the news: A few hours ago he tweeted that he had a surprise for everyone, and went on to explain that the financial incentives program from Bitcoin is currently measured in dollars, and that schedule has a surplus of 4 million dollars in the green at the moment, and those proceeds are going to be used for ... kittens. No seriously, they're building a luxurious looking veterinarian hospital. There's even a 3D render of the thing and a long list of specifications of "Chivo Pets" aka like Chivo Wallet, which is slang for hip/cool. Cool Pets Animal Hospital, basically. (It's unclear if that's just a placeholder name, but I wouldn't be surprised*) Here's the thread play-by-play translated:
You can guess how this went. There's quite a bit of negative comments about how of all the things the country needs, this is not really one of those items in high demand, and some sarcasm about how it will be useful to tame some hairy people on the streets. The comments are gold. To el Presidente's defense, he did say "in part", not the full amount. The fact that there was a 3D render of the place seems like this was a proposal that was on hold for a long time and just happened to catch his fancy. *Clearly, this is a bit of propaganda aimed at young people. It's also great to see that much money flow into existence by doing nothing but holding an appreciating asset that's globally in demand. **I think he means selling some BTC here, but it wasn't specified. If he didn't, the giant leap of faith here by El Presidente is that Bitcoin will continue to go higher and never dip down, unless he's cashing out all his BTC right now and taking all profits. Otherwise this is going to be underwater by Tuesday if things turn bearish. But Bitcoin only goes up, right? A cooler surprise would be to provide universal income through Chivo from the mining of Bitcoin from those volcanoes while it lasts, setting a precedent that natural resources in a country could be passively farmed (perhaps more split locally so allocation wouldn't be insignificant), setting an example for places that have bountiful clean energy available to them (big dams, solar farms). Anyway, this whole thing is playing out like an unrealistic video game plotline in something like Civilization or Far Cry, but it's real life. It's quite surreal to watch! Describe a coin in one sentence and others will try to guess what it is Posted: 09 Oct 2021 10:16 PM PDT The point is to try and describe the essence of the coin in one sentence. Remember:
I'll go first: "With this coin, a transaction sometimes costs more than the amount of coin you're trying to transfer". (I need a break from staring at those charts all the time). [link] [comments]

Which coin did you get in early on Posted: 10 Oct 2021 03:17 AM PDT What's your biggest flex what coin did you get early on at a low price before it gained any of the hype it may have today and how many times did you have to tell people about the coin before they started listening. personally mines VRA wasn't exactly early early but i got it for around 0.017 and the satisfaction of seeing how much return i've got on it is amazing i can tell it's gonna continue to make me huge money in the long run. also just a reminder to anyone hesitant because they missed out early remember DYOR because it's never too early to get in on a project you're confident in. Burger king will be doing a crypto promotion this month Posted: 09 Oct 2021 06:39 PM PDT I found out at work today that BK will soon be running a crypto themed promotion. It will be tied to using their mobile app and will, unfortunately, be partnered with robinhood. But, exposure is exposure? The funniest part was in the memo that came out from our franchise's marketing department regarding the promotion. It stated, rather vaguely, that "Royal Perks members who spend over $5 on the app will receive one free crypto coin." One free coin?!? Which one?!?! Haha I couldn't find anymore info today, im assuming this was just poor translation of tech speak. Either way, it made me feel like we are still pretty early. [link] [comments]

I think my ex-wife tried to steal some of my crypto Posted: 09 Oct 2021 08:01 PM PDT My ex and I have a generally amicable setup. Picking up and dropping off the kids etc. Sometimes I might stay at hers for a chat, she might stay here for half an hour and we'd talk about the kids etc. All in all, it seems fairly amicable. Anyway, a few days ago she was here to pick up the kids and I was outside in the garden. The kids were out with me riding their scooters. She asked if she could quickly use my computer to check something. Thinking nothing of it, I said sure. I was outside the whole time, and my phone was in my bedroom. About 20 minutes later, she and the kids left. Later that afternoon, I came inside for a dink and to check any messages. I didn't notice if my phone was in a slightly different place on the bed. But I did notice that there appeared to be some SMS authentications from Binance that had come through earlier. Panicked I ran to the computer to check on my accounts concerned I may have been hacked. Was someone trying to gain access, shit. After checking everything, Binance, metamaks, crypto, coinbase, etc... Relief poured over me when I learned that all my assets were still in place on my various wallets and exchanges. I'm fortunate to be fairly competent with security. Aside from phone 2FA, I also have email authorisations, Google Authenticator, very long and unique passwords and a Yubikey. It hadn't occurred to me that a lot of these could be relatively easily usurped from within my own home. I don't know of anyway to track use of Google Authenticator. There was nothing in my emails, but that doesn't mean they weren't sent and deleted. I don't have any evidence aside from what I've described above that it was her, it could have been someone external of course. Even days later, I'm still a little freaked out. I'm still unsure how to proceed. Haven't mentioned this to anyone yet. I guess the moral is that the more secure your accounts the better, but its possible that your next hacker may not be a total stranger. [link] [comments]
I have $5000 more to invest in crypto - what are your undervalued alts? Posted: 10 Oct 2021 02:48 AM PDT Hey guys I have $5000 more to invest in crypto - what coin should I buy? I'd love to focus on a coin that has upcoming developments / news in the short term as I think they would pump the most coupled with the bull run that we're predicting at the end of this year, but interested to hear everyone's thoughts! Some of the alts I am already holding are cosmos, harmony, vechain, icon, and nano. I'm thinking about looking into mina protocol or maybe buying more link. I am mainly looking for alts that aren't in the top 10 :) What are your guys thoughts?? Thanks!! :) [link] [comments]
What's your end goal in Crypto? Posted: 10 Oct 2021 12:37 AM PDT Most of the sub talks about x going to $100 or y going to $100k but I hardly see anyone talking about what exactly are they trying to achieve here? Since we are in here for long term, still there might be some goal which you have in your mind. My goal is to make enough so that I can solely live on passive income from my crypto coins and at the same time leaving my job. It can be either from staking/yield or any other way. It's still a long way to go for that to happen. I just want to know what is your long term crypto goal? [link] [comments]
BTC TAPROOT upgrade is huge and should be mentioned more Posted: 09 Oct 2021 09:29 PM PDT The last major upgrade to Bitcoin happened in 2017, and right now, there's not much use to it other than to transfer money from A to B. Luckily, a technological overhaul has finally come. Over 90% of Bitcoin miners have approved an upgrade for this upcoming November. The upgrade, known as Taproot, will improve the efficiency and privacy of the network and could catalyze a major boost in Bitcoin's price. Two changes to the Bitcoin network's underlying code (or protocol) will take place with the Taproot upgrade. The first is replacing the cryptocurrency's Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm with that of the Schnorr Signature Algorithm. Sounds complicated, but here's what it means for all of us. If 10 different users sent BTC to a single wallet address (public key) under the current setup, it would appear on Bitcoin's ledger as 10 separate transactions. But using SSA, Bitcoin's network will be able to bundle these 10 transactions into one transaction with a unique key. Secondly, the Taproot upgrade will be able to compress complex conditions required for transactions into one single line of data under what's called the Merklized Alternative Script Trees (MAST) to the blockchain's code, making it a more streamlined process. These changes are revolutionary as both transactions and conditions for their execution take up storage on the blockchain. And Bitcoin's transaction fees increase when more space is used up. Lower fees would incentivize far more transactions on the network, as well as merchant adoption. But that's just the first perk. The second perk is that users will have much more privacy when it comes to using bitcoins. Indeed, its digital record of transactions (otherwise known as a public ledger) unintentionally made Bitcoin less private than cash. As a result, nosey blockchain analytic firms can monitor users' transactions and uncover their personal information based on their public key. But when transactions are bundled together with just one unique key, it's much harder to deduce who sent the BTC. This will make BTC compete better with coins designed to obfuscate wallet addresses and shield observers from tracing transactions. The final perk is that smart contracts would become more affordable on Bitcoin's network. The technology behind Bitcoin is pretty old, and until Taproot goes live, it can only handle about four transactions per second. Each basic transaction (sending money from A to B) costs about $5 to $75, and with smart contracts, users would need to pay astronomically more in fees as they take up more space on the blockchain. This will lead to an increase in demand for btc and will skyrocket its price. People are bullish about btc at $100k by eoy but it might not be that impossible to get close to that number after the upgrade. Tl-dr: With the introduction of the Taproot upgrade, transaction fees will be lower, though still require improvement via future upgrades, smart contracts and NFTs will be possible on the btc network and it will have a higher privacy in certain cases. It's not a bad idea to get some btc now while it's cheap P. S. Copy-pasted some stuff from the internet and added some words of mine. Not 100% original content [link] [comments]
What crypto would you invest your last $20 in? Posted: 09 Oct 2021 06:00 PM PDT I have $20 left after my first foray into the crypto world, getting burned by Shib along the way (only lost around $10 thankfully). Unfortunately I don't have the funds to drop any real money into the market for the next couple of months. So my question is, where would you put your last $20 so that you could keep going long enough to learn more about crypto until you could afford to put more money in? I'm not looking to hit it big (impossible with such a low amount I know), I just want to keep this $20 alive so that I can continue learning before I put real money into this strange, new to me world. And yes, I know no one knows shit about fuck, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can any way I can. [link] [comments]

Why SHIB and other shitcoins are going to haunt you and me for years Posted: 09 Oct 2021 02:47 PM PDT Let's be honest everyone: Despite the fact that many of us here believe in Crypto long-term, everyone here secretly dreams of becoming the next 'crypto millionaire'. A world where money is of little importance in daily life and one could live more freely would be a utopia. However, for better or for worse, money and securing as much as you can like a squirrel to acorns is top of mind. It's why we do ridiculous things like farm for moons (👀), kiss our boss's ass, and sell our Bussies for some extra cash. When DOGE first started rocketing, and fervent fans started spamming "BUY", there was a major sentiment change. Here a once beloved meme coin was seemingly getting hijacked by the most famous figures and annoying followers. "Lol, they're fools! This will explode in their face and they will blame Crypto and not themselves" "This rugpull is going to be so delicious" "Crash when" "Honestly fuck DOGE and fuck Elon, he's making a joke of Crypto!" "You may have made a shit ton of money, but it's a useless coin!" I was one of those people. Many here were too. It doesn't matter how shitty the coin is - if it strikes a nerve in the massive hive mind that is the internet - throw a bone at it once in a while. Take a small chunk of earnings from another project and see what happens. If you lose half of it, you called it. If you make some extra cake, the world is an unpredictable place. Trying to stick to some snobbish standard when it comes to what is essentially all gambling only comes back around to bite you in the ass when you forget it's gambling. Edit: well it looks like my post struck a nerve.. time to buy! [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Oct 2021 06:18 PM PDT In 1717 the Mississippi Company, chartered in France, set out to colonize the lower Mississippi valley, establishing the city of New Orleans in the process. To finance it's ambitious plans, the company, which had good connections at the court of King Louis XV, sold shares on the Paris stock exchange. In 1717 the lower Mississippi valley offered few attractions besides seasons and alligators, yet the Mississippi Company spread tales of fabulous riches and boundless opportunities. French aristocrats, businessmen and other members of the bourgeoisie fell for those fantasies, and Mississippi share prices SKYROCKETED. Initially, shares were offered at 500 livres apiece. Two years later on August 1st, 1719, shares traded at 2,750 livres. By the end of the month, they had nearly 2x and traded at 4,100 livres. Less than a week later, they shot up to 5k livres. By December, they had pumped to 10k livres per share and euphoria swept the streets of Paris. People sold ALL their possessions and took out huge loans to buy Mississippi shares. Everyone believed they had found their rocket to the moon. In early December, the panic began. Speculators realized that share prices were totally unrealistic and unsustainable. People started selling and an avalanche ensued. In order to stabilize prices, the central bank of France bought up Mississippi shares, but it could not do so forever. Eventually it ran out of money. So what did they do? What banks do best; they printed more money. The entire French financial system was placed within a bubble and while big speculators got out in time, the small investors lost everything. The moral of the story? FOMO has existed since the beginning of capitalism, banks will always win and if you're a small fish in a big pond, nobody is gonna look out for your best interests except for you. Youth against the older generation? I’m just like you, just older. Posted: 09 Oct 2021 11:13 AM PDT I started my crypto journey in April 2021, being on the wrong side of 50 and chronically aware of having another 18 years until I retire, tired and wanting a rest, I began researching Bitcoin with the idea that maybe I could invest and retire a little earlier. Contrary to many beliefs that the older generation have exploited & plundered the world, leaving the youth of today with nothing but fading hope, I'm just a young man inside who's grown older, with no more money than anybody else, in fact I've young children (they are life's biggest expense) bills to pay, no major savings (very difficult when you have kids) mortgage etc & with age comes the aches & pains of life. My parents didn't pay for my university course, or give me money whilst I was there, in fact I arrived with £10 in my pocket & lived on £1 a day back in 2004, it was hard going & I made it myself with no one's help after escaping a council estate lifestyle, divorced parents with no jobs and I simply worked McDonald's and similar to earn money, with no expectation to make anything of myself, just like all my friends at the time. University was for the middle class, council house kids from broken homes don't have a long view of life beyond thinking about earning money as soon as possible. I was the 1st in my extended family to go to university in 3 generations, so I broke the mould. I'm working a professional job, full time and I've just spent the last year caring for COVID patients on ventilated life support on an Intensive Care Unit, and quite frankly it has exhausted me mentally, physically and emotionally, (watching people die is no fun, watching your colleagues end up on a ventilator and die was soul destroying & thinking you could be next was fucking scary) so crypto is my way out and hopefully retire a little earlier if possible. I knew nothing about cryptocurrency, so I've educated myself to gain some knowledge, researched a few coins and settled on Matic (polygon) , as it had a good clear use case, and I believed it could be the coin that might provide that way out for my family. The only positive us older people have, is life experience and taking bigger risks based on that experience, and with that I've purchased a decent amount of Matic when it was £0.26, sold at £1.20 & now all on ETH. Hopefully within 2 years I can retire & spend time with my family. My whole point of this post is simply to say, us older buggers are just like you, just older. I'm looking to to earn as you, make a decent profit as you, dream of a life with no worry and hopefully have that 'Lambo' you all talk about, instead I'll have to stick with my Nissan Note that's 10 years old. Get up and go to work wearing my double respirator mask all day, just getting by just like you guys/gals. In 10-20 years you'll be just like me, but the difference is you all have; 1) 24hr fast internet 2) Mobile phone's with more power and capability that the 1st rocket to the moon. 3) Technology that emerging so fast that it's simply mind boggling 4) Cryptocurrency 5) Youth The world is yours now, and right now instead of looking for the immediate life changing coin, which only happens if you have life changing money, put it on a solid best bet such Bitcoin or Ethereum, wait a year or 2 and Then cash out and go get your dream, whatever that dream is. Deposit for a mortgage, new car, pay for your wedding etc, as that is life's reality. I wish I knew about or had money back in the day for crypto, but the truth is the internet back then was pretty shit to be honest, and cryptocurrency didn't exist, and I couldn't afford a mobile phone or internet anyway, and I was flipping burgers 🍔 for £56 a week. Many are saying that they don't have the opportunity as the older generation did…..I disagree, you people are living a life I could have only dreamed of, cryptocurrency at this early stage is an awesome opportunity and I would encourage you all to simply take full advantage of it, and I wish you all the best………truth is, by the time many of you hit 50 years old, I'll probably be dead 💀 & the youth will be complaining about you. Cryptocurrency is so revolutionary, it's like discovering a new law of physics, it's one of the biggest changes to human life that will take place in history for a generation. I'm only saddened that I won't be around long enough to see the full potential of it all. Grab it by the horns and ride it hard. EDIT: A huge (and I bow before you) thanks for the awards, moons & a bloody decent conversation from you all, I was waiting for the rock throwing but instead got covered in good vibes 😊 🤟 [link] [comments]
