    Mining Room/Computer Room Temp

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 05:50 AM PDT

Man I can't wait for Fall/Winter/Spring. Temps in my lower level of my house can be hot. I don't know what else I can do for next summer. I added a return vent to my HVAC to suck up some of that heat into the house. I just have two Vornado fan because the move the air around in the room awesome and at only 40w. Two mining Rigs, 3 other computers in this area. My temp in this room is at 84.6 degrees in the morning and can get to 88 degrees at mid day. My HVAC blows A/C into here but it's not at a rate that I count on, it's doesn't overcome the heat.

Does anyone operate as a US-based LLC or S-Corp?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 08:35 PM PDT

    Hi there,

This year i have a little over $20k in expenses, $8k in mining income and $8k in gains.
I want to incorporate soon, so i can offset my income with the expenses from the equipment.

I have a meeting with my CPA in a week, but i am looking to educate myself in the meantime.

How did you setup your llc? how do you track and report? what tools do you use? Do you just mine or mine+ invest? How do you pay yourself or take a distribution when you want some cash?

Thanks for any input you can provide!

Can't mine because of fortigate firewall hiveos.

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 08:29 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I'm having some trouble connecting to the mining pool (Flypool using T-Rex miner) using Hiveos because of my Fortigate 40f firewall/router. I can't remove the Fortigate since it's protecting an unrelated server and can't change buildings since that location has .01 K/wh cost for a couple of years. I can configure the PC in the Fortigate admin but I'm kinda lost on what exactly to whitelist so that it can function. I would appreciate it if y'all had any tips on what steps to take for full functionality or any creative ways to bypass the firewall without compromising the other server.

WoolyPooly multiple rig mining; modified pay per last N shares strategy

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 08:28 AM PDT

I, along with a number of other people, have encountered the situation where effort and participation are lost when a rig goes down for > 2 hours and it was extremely frustrating to watch that disappear simply because one of my machines hung and i wasn't able to physically reboot it in time.

The problem is that for us with multiple rigs, we use multiple rig names, all of which are aggregated by woolypooly to determine overall participation and effort, so if one rig dies then all the stats that go along with it die too.

I've solved this by signing the same worker name to all my rigs/workers so that if one goes down, my hash rate decreases but my effort and participation doesn't. This way i can afford to bring a rig down for maintenance or upgrades without worrying about having it back online within the 2 hour timeframe, which isn't much time considering how finicky rigs can be when making hardware changes.

Can I use a PCIE splitter to connect to GPU and riser?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 08:06 AM PDT

Title is basically it. I have a daisy chained 8 pin PCIE cables from my PSU and I was wondering if I could connect it to a 6+2 PCIE splitter that connects to 1660 and riser.

I'm not using the second PCIE connector on the daisy chain, I heard thats a nono

    Two gpu mining trouble

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 08:03 AM PDT

Been having some issues getting full hash out of two 3060 (both non LHR)

I recently discovered my motherboard was limiting the pci lanes. So I wa only running at x4 for the second gpu which cut the hash rate in half

I have a different mother board that I am trying today but the same thing is happening.

Asus prime z590a is the mobo Cpu intel i5 11600

The gpus are running at x8/x4 for some reason and I can't figure out a way to fix it.

In the manual it says two gpu should be x8/x8

    Any ideas ?

GPU Mining Co Searching for Motivated and Experienced GPU Miner

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 07:44 AM PDT

    Hello /r/gpumining!

My name is Jimmy and I am a large scale GPU miner based out of Washington State. I have been involved with cryptocurrencies since 2013, and I have run my business in its current capacity since 2017. I am posting here because this subreddit has been good to me, bringing me clients over the past few years because of this post.

Now I am back for a different reason that may interest the miners in this subreddit: A job. We think the best place to find good GPU miners is in this community.

My partner and I's business has grown from a small farm of a few hundreds GPU's to 10,000 GPU's under management, and will have 30,000+ GPU's under management by the end of the year. Now before you say *in Graham Stephen voice*, "but Jimmy, the Merge will kill your business, why would I want to stake my career on a party I know is ending?!" Just know that while the merge is likely further out than people think, and we are also expanding our scope of operations to include general compute (think AI, live video transcoding, etc.), and ASIC mining dominated by Bitcoin. Given the increase in scale and scope of our business, I am forced to delegate some tasks I have been responsible for over the last few years. We are seeking a remote, full time rig management/customer support/success person for our growing team.

If you have a hobbyist farm at home and/or know how to tune multiple generations of AMD and NVIDIA GPU's, is experienced in Linux, have strong social skills to ensure client success, and can manage a growing dashboard of GPU's alongside our team on the ground, we have the job for you!

Please click here to apply on our website. I am also happy to answer any questions you may have here.

Trying to Mine with a 1650 Super

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 07:18 AM PDT

    Hey all,

I recently picked up a 1650 super for very cheap and thought I'd have no problem throwing it into a rig and getting a little extra hash rate.

I realize now that I may have made a mistake. Perhaps it is a 2gb card instead of the normal 4gb cards?

Or perhaps you can't mine with 4gb cards at all anymore on ethash.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Is there another algo I can mine profitably?

Mining with all GPUs on one pcie slots a good idea or feasible?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 11:34 PM PDT

I have 7 GPUs, Team Green to Red. I've seen ridiculously high prices for mining motherboards, and was wondering if I could just get a usb 3 pcie that supports 7 ports and some risers, would that be a good idea? Would it affect performance alot?

Did anyone here do a home electrical entry upgrade for mining?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 09:39 PM PDT

As title suggests. I plan on getting a bunch of ASICs, but I'd need to increase my electrical panel from 200A to at least 300A, preferably 400A. Is that doable, and if so, how much does it cost and how much space around the old panel is required?

How can I figure out how much electricity I can draw before a fuse breaks?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 12:44 AM PDT

I'm asking this question because I'm interested in mining. I in a place where electricity is covered in the monthly rent.

I would like to find out the answer to my electrical questions on my own. In other words is there some tool I can put into an AC outlet that will give me my answer?

What is your cost per kWh and how many kW is your daily peak demand?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 01:59 PM PDT

I figure miners would be pretty knowledgeable about their power usage and costs. So I'm wondering what's the average cost paid per kWh, not for the total bill but for the energy supplied and/or delivered? What other charges are included in your bill? Does peak time of day matter, or is it calculated 24/7, or is it not factored at all?
