PSA Stay away from the latest NVIDIA DRIVER 471.11

so I tent to try to stay up to date with my software as much as possible. Lo and behold this update mess up the power reading in Gminer for Pascal cards. My 1060 and 1080 cards power usage show up as N/A and I thought it was something else. Tried to DDU and reinstall the latest 471.11 and still the same issue. Took me a few days and I decided to downgrade to the one earlier 466.77 and i get no more N/A for power reading.

I also started having issues with nvlddmkm froze up the system but finger crossed its also due to the latest driver. I will report back my findings ASAP.

Fans on a traditional mining frame: push or pull?

Or does it really matter as long as there's airflow?

Why do you care so much about spreading FUD to people buying new equipment/new to mining

Anyone else getting low eth hashrate on Adrenalin 21.6.1?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 10:38 PM PDT

I'm getting around 45mhs with my 6800xt since updating drivers to 21.6.1. I've rolled back and I'm back up to 62mhs. Hopefully the issue resolves in future updates, I would like to try out FSR while still being able to mine.

    Operation: Frankenstein's Rig

    Operation: Frankenstein's Rig

    Here's the plan:

    • The algo: Kawpow network
    • The coin: RVN @ .05
    • The pool: 2miners

    The current equipment

    • I have a 500 Watt PSU from a Thermal Master TC-102
    • I have 4GB of DDR3 Memory for the board from an old laptop (I also have a DDR4, but not compatible)
    • I also have extra HDD drives for the board.

    The outlay

(I have two 1050ti that are mining in PC's getting 5-6 mh/s on Kawpow NOT OC'd.)

    The experiment (outlay 2)

    • $150 for the BTC-T37 board
    • $140 for the four ZOTAC 730 4GB's.
    • $710 plus cables etc

(If they work up to at least 5 mh/s overclocked, I can net up to 20-40mh/s in the pool. I HOPE!)

    Summary

Right now I am netting 20-25 RVN/24 hours about $1 a day. Low power consumption and I don't pay for electricity, it's in my rent. I've been converting that into ATOM and staking that for 10% per year return. I'm hoping to make that $300 I spent on the second 1050ti back quicker. I could also trade with that money on Kucoin and 10x it, but that's very risky. I've made a few hundred and gave back some, so this is going to financed with some of that profit. Which I why I am going with a low cost, low power, low noise alternative.

    tl;dr

Will the GT 730 mine enough RVN to make sense, if at all? Or do I spend the money and go with the 1650 or more 1050ti's; is the entire idea trash?

    Thank you for reading.

    Measuring profitability between different miners

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 08:36 PM PDT

I've just recently gotten into mining and crypto in general. I've currently got 3 gpus in a mining rig mining on HiveOS and the one in my gaming rig mining on Ethermine. I'm mining both to my ETH wallet on Coinbase. I was looking for a way to compare my results between the two. ETH earned per share submitted doesn't seem to work as the results are vastly different. I'm guessing the two just accept or pay for shares at different rates.

ETH earned per MH/s seems to make more sense (or $ value per MH/s to avoid dealing with crazy small numbers). It would indicate that over the past week I've earned $0.35 per MH/s on HiveOS vs $0.32 on Ethermine.

Is this a valid comparison? Is there a better way to compare the two?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 06:03 PM PDT

Hey guy's I just downloaded T-Rex miner and it pops up with an error message that says

"File Corrupted! This Program Has Been Manipulated And Maybe It's Infected By A Virus or Cracked. This File Won't Work Anymore."

I have completed uninstalled all my my anti virus programs and also I've completely fully disabled Windows Defender and verified the checksum on the download and everything is all good. Any ide what the problem is?
