Isnt the goal to stay on chain? Posted: 16 Jun 2021 11:05 AM PDT Isnt the goal of crypto to stay on chain and be as decentralized as possible? The more I read into the LN, the more I question its function. I support BTC, but LTC doesnt need to function off chain to work quick and cheap. [link] [comments]
Virtual Server Host That Accepts Litecoin Posted: 16 Jun 2021 01:11 AM PDT If you want to use litecoin to rent virtual servers, it's actually more difficult than I thought. I did a lot of digging on this subreddit, and found that some info has changed. A big problem (that I don't understand) is why Bitpay doesn't accept Litecoin. So often, you might see a provider that accepts Bitcoin, but if you see that they use Bitpay as their payment processor, you can be sure that they do not accept Litecoin. Firstly, bithost.io acts as aggregator for several hosts such as Digital Ocean, Linode, etc. and they accept Litecoin. They add a decent amount on top of the underlying price, but I think it's worth it to support the Litecoin community and people who build things that accept Litecoin. The only issue is that you don't get the full functionality as you would if you had a direct Digital Ocean account (which does not accept crypto directly). Secondly, this Norwegian provider (terrahost.no) has Bitpay listed at their provider, but it must have changed at some point to CoinGate, which allows people to pay with many different coins including Litecoin. Their LXC servers are very well priced, and you get a decent level of functionality. A drawback is that their signup process isn't fully automated, so it took like a day to get a new account open, pay the invoice, and create the server. The other drawback is that their LXC servers come with 1 year subscriptions (no monthly or daily as other providers do). This may seem trivial, but as a small business, I found more simplified to pay with Litecoin than credit card or bank payments, and the accounting is much easier because you don't have to worry about reconciling your bank account. That goes with any service where you pay with Litecoin. Overall if you're a member of the Litecoin community and you have some freedom to choose where you create virtual servers, I encourage everyone to find and support places that accept Litecoin. Lastly, it's a bit easier to pay with litecoin versus other methods, but this is not an area where you will see me post about because I think integrating litecoin into cross border and remittance payments is where there is a massive improvement over how it's done today in cost, ease, and speed; whereas, paying with Litecoin in developed countries is an improvement, but not as massive as the impact could be on remittance payments. I think this is what's really driving El Salvador to make Bitcoin legal tender, but the "as is" situation today is effectively a tax on their economy. Sad that people don't see Litecoin as the solution to that problem, but the general population doesn't know much about litecoin (yet). [link] [comments]
