- Had to use zipties but got my 3090 memory to drop ~10c. Somehow I thought the thermal pads work as a glue... 4 heatsinks dropped in the process but if it works it works. Stable 118,5 MH/s.

- MSI 3080 starts out mining fine then hashrate slowly drops and CPU usage increases. Alongside other cards it crashes the whole system. Effective hashrate very low as well. Any ideas?

Gigabyte RTX 3090 Gaming OC - low hashrate Posted: 03 Jun 2021 07:33 AM PDT Hello together, for quite some time I was thinking about finally building a gaming PC for myself again. Due to problems with availability of parts I went for a NZXT BLD. (Very satisfied btw.). I ordered a Gigabyte RTX 3090 Gaming OC. Since the card is quite capable for ETH mining, I tried setting up t-rex miner today so let the system mine while its not in use. Especially since I have very low power costs due to my PV array. Based on my research I know that the RTX should be capable of reaching > 100 MH/s. My system currently runs with about 70 though. Could this be related to the NVIDA driver that came pre-installed with the system? Its currently at 461.72. I read that NVIDIA rolled out drivers which limit the hash rate. If so: What is the last/best driver version to use? I know there might be throttling based on VRAM temperature, but the performance is also that low after a "cold boot". (System cooled down. Fresh boot, fresh start of t-rex miner). Can you guys recommend a specific tool to monitor the cards temperatures? [link] [comments]

EVGA store down at 3080ti launch Posted: 03 Jun 2021 06:29 AM PDT Strategies for the 3080ti launch ont he evga store? I see the store has been down since a bit before launch this morning, and now the queue should have opened and it's still down. What are your plans to get into the store? Keep refreshing, come back later, other solutions? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Jun 2021 07:29 PM PDT Major noob question that likely is asking to defy the very physics of the hardware. Is there any way to achieve maximum hash rates from a graphics card using an x1 slot the same way an x16 slot maximizes the hash rates due to the increased bandwidth? Is there any kind of adapter or other hardware that can achieve this? Thank you! [link] [comments]
3080Ti for Ergo? Does the hash rate get nerfed? Posted: 02 Jun 2021 10:20 PM PDT Does anyone knows how the 3080ti performs with Ergo mining? Thinking of getting one for Ergo but not sure if the Hashrate nerf affect anything else aside from ETH. [link] [comments]

How to know if a card will be hash-limited or not Posted: 02 Jun 2021 05:16 PM PDT Hello! I am very, very knew to this, and was wondering if there will be a way to tell if one of the Nvidia cards has its hash rate halved or not when trying to find cards? Thanks so much! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Jun 2021 04:38 PM PDT I am using an Nvidia RTX 3060 with an MSI MPG x570 Gaming Edge WiFi motherboard and 16GB RAM. I set the virtual memory to 16GB, overclocked the GPU according to many of the recommended settings here, and am using the 470.05 beta driver, yet I am only achieving hash rates of about 26MH/s on NiceHash using DaggerHashimoto algorithm. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]
Mining Rig battery backup options on 120v? Posted: 02 Jun 2021 12:43 PM PDT I have a partial mining rig at this point, but hoping to expand it to a full blown 6 card setup with either two 1200 watt gold psu's or three 850 watt gold psus. I also havent figured out how ill deal with only 20amp outlets (all on the same 20 amp fuse), one shared with another device but doesnt take a ton of amps i dont think, whole other story (probably going to create a 30amp circuit and run a line). For now i have a thick gauge proper rated extension going 30 feet to my basement location (only using 600 watts tops now anyway). At any rate, at full capacity ill likely have at least 2 plugs at a max of 10 amps each. I guess even at that it would work if it had its own (non shared) outlet. (or 7.08 amps x 3) For setups like this (6x3080), what is everyone using for a battery backup (or none i guess), it doesnt strictly need one (or two), but this machine doubles as my media server. I have a 980 watt 1500VA currently, i think best bet there is two of those backup units into one 20 amp outlet)? Or do most not even bother due to the high current involved (and added cost/complexity) [link] [comments]
Need Help with MSI Trio X thermal pads 3090 Posted: 02 Jun 2021 02:32 PM PDT I replaced the thermal pads on my 3090 and did not notice a decrease in temps at all. I think it is because of the brand I used (Thermal Odyssey). Some people told me that these are "harder" pads which will prevent contact of gpu core if too thick ones are used. I tested this and it was definitely right. Sizes of 3mm, 2mm and 1.5mm did not work when replacing on the gpu side. I could only replace the stock pads with 1 mm ones, which have not seen a thermal benefit. I know Gelid is a respected brand and has softer pads. Does anyone know which thickness I can get away with using softer pads from Gelid? [link] [comments]
Having issues getting all three of my 3070s going on my rig. Posted: 02 Jun 2021 02:29 PM PDT I have built a small rig to mine with three 3070s but am having trouble getting all three working. The build is a Ryzen 3200g, Gigabyte B450m Gaming mobo, 8GB of ram and Windows 10 on a m.2 nvme. The mobo and one 3070 (including its riser) is powered by a 650w PSU, the other two 3070s and their risers are powered by a 850w PSU. I can get two GPUs showing in Windows but once I connect the third, either with a USB pcie adapter or to a pcie to 4x USB riser adapter the rig will not boot and I have reset the CMOS to get it going again. I am wondering if the motherboard is not up to it, or maybe if I try an SATA drive instead it might help. Is there any reason this could be happening? I will get it sorted but would like to avoid spending time and money where I do not need to. [link] [comments]

Troubleshooting a Friend's Rig Posted: 02 Jun 2021 11:47 AM PDT Hey r/gpumining, like the title implies, I'm heading over to a friend's place tonight to help them troubleshoot a new mining rig they set up. They bought an entire rig off of Ebay (I know) and is making less than half what the NiceHash calculator (I know) said they should. Since I've built a few computers in the past I've now been roped in to helping him fix/salvage what works. Here are the specs he sent me:
Here's what I've got in my notes so far:
If you guys think I'm over looking a potential problem please let me know, and if there's a troubleshooting resource out there I would appreciate a link. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
