Posted: 25 Jun 2021 02:06 AM PDT Yesterday I made a post about OpisHub. It's still up, but the main point was that they approached me to shill their shitcoin for money and that they are really shady, it has many red flags and very much looks like a scam. Then one of the scammers (Scammer 2) sent me a message that he didn't like it, and that I was deleting his comments on my post (lol he has less than 50 comment karma, they just got deleted, of course I didn't do anything). My post only had like 35 or 50 upvotes at this point and it had already been 2 hours since I posted, the post wouldn't have become very big - but the scammers decided to buy downvotes, bringing it to below 0 within minutes, see also here. The mods deleted a post about this that I made yesterday (because it broke another rule, so I understand - but that post is probably also the reason why my original post is above 0 again), so here I go again: these guys are obviously shady, some examples:
So even if the coin would not be a total scam - which I really think it is - they are obviously doing shady stuff. I have already listed the obvious red flags that make them look like your average scam coin, here they are again, slightly adapted:
Scammer 1 had also told me they "have received £3.5million pounds in the last week to utilise to get this project off the ground". If you look at their social media activity etc., it's all extremely basic and unprofessional (but check out their Twitter, it's kind of funny - they really try to seem "sciency" but don't really know anything about science I think. The followers are either also bought or baited by some fake giveaways, very few seem to be normal, non-spammy accounts) - no company with multiple millions funding would present themselves like that. Also look at the start of the email they sent me in beautiful red, Scammer 1 didn't even remove the "initial contact", which I think is hilarious. So again, if you see positive posts about this project, it's either the scammers or people with less morals that they approached. Stay away from them as far as possible, at least don't give them money, your personal information, or go to their website/ download their app so they can send you viruses. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 08:20 PM PDT Salvadoran here!! President Bukele just announced that he is implementing a national wallet in September called "chivo" (means cool in Salvadoran slang) The government is giving 30 usd to anyone that creates an account, by law you will have to accept BTC as a company... but the wallet let's you convert the BTC to usd immediately. He mentioned there will be two types of wallets... one for the people and one for companies. Apparently the wallet also is compatible with other Bitcoin wallets... You will be able to pay taxes with BTC... except you won't need to pay taxes for the BTC you hold. Foreigners who come to invest in crypto in El Salvador will be granted permanent residency and will not have to pay taxes for the crypto they invest in. So anyone who wants to come to El Salvador to invest is welcome to eat some pupusas with me!!!🫓 🇸🇻 Hope everything goes chivo with this one!! [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Jun 2021 07:10 AM PDT I've been given the opportunity to talk about cryptocurrencies at my worksplace infront of about 50+ people (will happen online). I've got an hour. I've got free reign to cover whatever. What would you cover, given this chance? So far what I thought to cover:

Not going to make the same mistake this time Posted: 25 Jun 2021 04:38 AM PDT In '17/'18 I was a broke college student investing petty cash in crypto. Well, when the crash hit I needed the money so I (stupidly) took what little I had out. Looking back, the several eth and fractions of btc I had could've been a well needed chunk of change today ( I need a new car, that $10k+ would really help 😅) So this time around, I REFUSE to make the same mistake. I'm investing ~$250 biweekly. Money I can afford to lose. I'm staking it and not looking back for at least a few years. I don't want to look back in 2024 and end up having made the mistake of missing out on some serious gains. [link] [comments]

My opinion on why the whole El Salvador thing is shady. Posted: 25 Jun 2021 04:59 AM PDT So, after the new El Salvador announcement to drop 30$ do every adult on their (governement sanctioned) wallet, I started to wonder what the ulterior motive is. Yeah some may say "freedom from inflation, from USD, from the US manipulating the price" yadda yadda. That might all be true. But there's another, rather concerning point I'm seeing. Removing privacy. Bitcoin is transparent. That's one of the big selling points. And normally that's a good thing. But if your wallet is linked to your Identity, let's say by a airdrop you have to claim by IDing yourself to prevent ppl from using the aidrop multiple times, transparency becomes a concern. Every transaction you do is public. Bought a car at a car dealer? Public. Bought some gold from a bank? Public. Bought something from dildopolis around the corner? Public. Bought something at a local supermarket? Public. For ever. (Of course it's not visible what you bought exactly). Some might say: Whatever. But remember: Companys are paying for that kind of data. They pay facebook or companies like visa for you collected data. Because this data is normally more or less private. With the whole linking your wallet to your ID-thing the following is possible once you buy at any company with your wallet. Also the governement knows exactly where you bought, where you live, where you traveled, because every wallet can be linked to a shop with a physical adress. Everything is public. I don't know about you guys, but this sounds like an authoritarian nightmare. And while we critizised China for their digital yuan, we praise El Salvador because they are using BTC?? This is bullshit. This is dangerous. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 07:14 PM PDT Anyone who has been in crypto during the past two bull markets wil tell you that one of the biggest mistakes you can make is not formulating a profit taking strategy ahead of time. When markets go parabolic you can't make rational decisions, the hype will distort your views of what's possible. You end up never taking profits and holding through a crash, and losing all your gains. Also, if a dip happens you'll be prone to panic selling and can miss out. Now is the time, when markets are flat or bearish, that you can make rational, calculated strategies for how you are going to react if things start to go well again. One or more of the following strategies will guarantee that you don't miss out on at least some gains when the bull happens. Strategy 1 - Withdrawing your original stake. Basically, you wait until a certain point - say 50% or 100% gains, then you cash out whatever fiat you originally put in. That way you don't lose any money and everything else you're playing with is house money. Strategy 2 - Shaving off profits gradually. This is simply a formula that guarantees you will profit and continue to profit as the price rises. You sell, for example, 10% of your stack every time it goes up 20%. You never sell everything but are at least hedging something in case a crash happens. Strategy 3 - Pick a target and stick to it. This one is often favoured by people who are using charts and fib extensions to work out prices. They will pick a point they think is a good sell target and will simply sell all or part of their holdings when it hits that point. Strategy 4 - Goal based. E.g once I have 10k, once I have enough to pay off the mortgage, once I get a house deposit etc. Once you reach your goal you take the money and run. Don't look back. Strategy 5 - Sell after a certain time period. For example - I hold for 5 years no matter what then sell. This is a great one if you're prone to anxiety. You can just set and forget, the money is effectively gone and you don't need to think about it for 5 years. Whatever tactic you take, ANY strategy is better than no strategy. Make sure you have a contingency plan for both rising and falling markets. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 08:53 AM PDT Buddy took out an equity on his home to buy BTC on the run up and was ecstatic for a bit when it hit the ATH. Sold some to later buy DOGE at .71 and ETH at $3900. Sold a few days ago. Called me up last night distressed as he saw BTC both go up. I'm kinda not sure how to handle this. Never had a suicidal friend before. I'm going to assume he's serious. He's mentally fucked right now, so we're going to meet for drinks and lunch. For the record, I never tell my friends and family to get into crypto. [link] [comments]

Bitcoin has finally closed three consecutive daily green candles since 11/04 Posted: 24 Jun 2021 07:03 PM PDT I think this was brought up by a YouTube video that I was watching yesterday. Only a few hours later, the observation was broken. How is everyone? What's the current sentiment around Bitcoin and the broader market? [link] [comments]
This sub feels a little bit like gatekeeping. Posted: 24 Jun 2021 10:13 PM PDT If you aren't talking about Bitcoin or Ethereum, you get downvotes to oblivion. Or you get a bunch of idiots saying "shit coin, fuck OP." But it seems ridiculous to me that we can't post about solid projects making headway in crypto without a bunch of idiots coming out the woodwork. Then again I have known for a while this sub is shit and the mods don't care. C'est la vie. Edit: spelling [link] [comments]
Why TikTok is an app to stay away from when it comes to getting advice on crypto Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:56 AM PDT I was scrolling down on TikTok for entertainment just now and saw many content creators saying that SHIB/Doge will go to unrealistic prices that are x100-x100000 of their value rn. However, for that target to reach, it will be WAY higher than the market cap of BTC and ETH itself. I was laughing and thinking " who in the right mind would believe this crap?" oh boy I was wrong, the comments shocked me, many people actually believe that it will eventually go "to the moon" and saying how rich they'll be when it goes x100-x100000. After scrolling through TikTok for another few minutes, I saw another dumbass shilling safemoon and I realised that's enough TikTok for the day. seriously, if you take advice from tiktok, just go flip a coin and go all in lmao. Posted: 24 Jun 2021 08:08 PM PDT Crypto is volatile, in fact basically like all stocks are. Of corse that isn't entirely true, but if you are desperate its all volatile. Crypto is not your quick fix or your get rich quick scheme. If you feel desperate to pay your bills, put food on the table, or looking for a savior please look elsewhere. It incredibly stressful and heartbreaking to read the stories of people feeling suicidal because of their crypto decisions. I bought 1 BTC at 1k in 2012/13 and i lost my key. its ok shit happens, but please dont put all you have into crypto hoping it changes your life. its been said 100,000,000 times but, do not invest what you cant lose. Along with that, you must learn to be ok with your choices. Selling at a lost, buying at ATH, not holding, whatever it is... dont let these decisions ruin your life internally that it ruins your life psychically. Be kind to yourself. 🖤 [link] [comments]
69.000 BTC of Africrypt 'lost', owners traceless. Posted: 25 Jun 2021 12:27 AM PDT African cryptocurrency exchange Africrypt has gone down a while ago in April. The exchanges 69k(nice) BTC have been practically untracable with the use of mixers. It has now become clear that this is most likely a BTC heist, with no trace of the founders of the exchange. Owners Ameer and Raees Cajee told investors last April that they would have been hacked, but not to warn authorities as it would slow down the reclamation process. Employees and users of Africrypt were excluded from the platform last April as well. The case has been transferred to an elite-unit of the South Africa Police. The financial authorities in South Africa are not planning to do anything about it as Bitcoin isn't a recognized financial product. If they really ran off with the BTC, it would be (one of) the biggest in cryptocurrency history, with a market value of over 2.5 billion dollars, closing in on 4 billion at the time Africrypt went offline. Posted: 24 Jun 2021 01:07 PM PDT I have done the unthinkable, and am now employing a new strategy that looks past all technical and fundamental analysis, DYOR, use cases and market analysis to exclusively tunnel vision on my feels and normal price fluctuations. I have carefully skimmed hundreds or possibly tens of reddit comments to aggregate the consensus of the average reddit user's emotions into my conclusion: that we are both simultaneously in a bull market and a bear market. It is obvious really. When the price goes up by 2%, we are in a bull market. Did China crack down on cryptocurrency again? Good, we don't want too much mass adoption. Of course, we are also in a bear market as Bitcoin stagnates at the same time. Tomorrow it may even go up or down. You know what they say, pray in May it will go both ways. I hope this was unhelpful to most of you. This analysis brought to you by enlightened crypto centrism. [link] [comments]

What are some of your favourite alts and why? Posted: 25 Jun 2021 01:37 AM PDT Please don't shill shitcoins here. But I'm looking to diversify my portfolio (currently most of it is BTC, ETH and a little bit of XMR), so some input would be nice. Currently I am thinking of getting some ADA, but what other coins are you guys bullish on? [link] [comments] |
