Hi, I'm Mago from Unstoppable Domains. Very excited about our recent integration with Bitcoin.com wallet so I'm here to answer all your questions about blockchain domains - AMA!

    Who is Unstoppable Domains?

Unstoppable Domains is a San Francisco-based company building domains on blockchains. The company is backed by Draper Associates and Boost VC.

Blockchain domains allow you to replace all your cryptocurrency addresses with an easily readable name and launch decentralized websites. The domain is stored in your wallet, just like a cryptocurrency. No one can move it around or make updates other than you!

To date, more than 30,000 websites have been launched on the decentralized web, and Unstoppable Domains has registered over 1,000,000 domains.

Here is how blockchain domains work in Bitcoin.com wallet:

    It's Fusion Friday! =)

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 06:39 AM PDT

CashFusion is a privacy protocol for Bitcoin Cash where users mix their coins with each other to make their transactions more private.

With CashFusion, your finances are your business, and no one else's. Over 5.5 Million Bitcoin Cash has already been made private using this innovative, non-custodial mixing protocol.

You can "Fuse" all week for a few cents in fees if you want. This post is just a weekly reminder. (And it gives users a specific time to coordinate their fusing if they want. The more people using CashFusion at once, the more effective it is!)

New to CashFusion? No problem, getting set up is pretty easy =)

First, download the Electron Cash desktop wallet. It's got CashFusion built in.

Set up your wallet (and be sure to write down your recovery phrase on a physical piece of paper), then activate CashFusion by clicking the icon in the lower right: https://i.imgur.com/DXEPLtf.png

Once it's activated, your wallet will start "fusing" the Bitcoin Cash it contains. Fusions happen over time as their own transactions, and they only cost you the network transactions fees (so less than a penny, usually).

Each fusion transaction will include some of your coins*, so it will take multiple fusion transactions before all the coins in your wallet will be fused. (In the View menu, toggle the "coins tab" to see all of the coins in your wallet. In the "Label" field, fused coins will show CashFusion info.)

Currently, Electron Cash keeps fusing your coins indefinitely. The plan is to eventually allow you to stop fusing automatically after some number of fusions per coin but, until then, there's no downside to leaving it to fuse continuously besides paying the transaction fees. (Every fusion gives you that much more privacy, while also providing "liquidity" for other fusers.)

Electron Cash does not yet prevent you from spending un-fused coins, nor does it prefer fused coins when spending, so it's probably best to leave it fusing and keep your whole wallet fused, and to pick your coins manually from the Coins tab. If you want that coin-management taken care of for your (and/or you're not comfortable picking from the Coins tab), you can always switch back to CashShuffle for now. (It's in the Optional Features window, accessible from the Tools menu.)

Here's the CashFusion Telegram group where you are welcome to ask questions. (Just remember to be courteous!)

    Happy Fusing!! <3

*"Coins" are kind of a confusing concept when it comes to Bitcoin, but you can think of them just like discrete "bills" (or... "coins") in your wallet, but instead of coming in only certain sizes like $1, $5, $10, $20, etc, they can be any amount sent to you in a previous transaction, like 0.618 BCH, 0.000001 BCH, or 123.45679 BCH. (They can also be combined and split up. That happens in most transactions!)

    Upcoming AMA with Unstoppable Domains

    Posted: 24 Jun 2021 11:58 PM PDT

    Hello r/btc community,

Bitcoin.com just implemented blockchain domains to make Bitcoin Cash payments easier! You can now pay someone by typing something like john.crypto in the recipient field instead of long crypto addresses. This can help grow adoption by enabling simpler and safer digital cash payments with an easily readable and shareable name.

You can read more about this collaboration with Unstoppable Domains here.

In light of the news, u/MagoCrypto from Unstoppable Domains, will be answering all your questions today, 25th June, Friday 2021 from 10AM PDT until 11AM PDT (17:00 GMT → 18:00 GMT).

    Rewards:

In addition to the AMA, Unstoppable Domains will reward every participant whose question is answered with $20 worth of store credits towards a blockchain domain.

    El Salvador update on BTC

    Posted: 24 Jun 2021 10:06 PM PDT

President Bukele just announced that he is implementing a national wallet in September called "chivo" (means cool in Salvadoran slang)

The government is giving 30 usd to anyone that creates an account, by law you will have to accept BTC as a company... but the wallet let's you convert the BTC to usd immediately.

He mentioned there will be two types of wallets... one for the people and one for companies.

Apparently the wallet also is compatible with other Bitcoin wallets...

You will be able to pay taxes with BTC... except you won't need to pay taxes for the BTC you hold.

Foreigners who come to invest in crypto in El Salvador will be granted permanent residency and will not have to pay taxes for the crypto they invest in.

Bitcoin.com wallet shareable link payments not working

    Posted: 24 Jun 2021 09:02 PM PDT

So I've been using the Bitcoin.com shareable payment links . a lot lately to motivate friends to install a Bitcoin wallet and play with Bitcoin a little bit. I feel like it's really a killer feature for increasing adoption and I've been able to get a lot of people to install it this way. However since yesterday I haven't been able to create any shareable payment links. I've been getting an error stating: "Failed to create payment link. Please try again later." I've been talking to support but haven't received any kind of confirmation on what the problem is.

Has anybody else had trouble creating shareable payment links within the past couple days?

Edit: I've followed u/maplesyrupsucker 's advice below and got it working great. It was being blocked by the adguard DNS I am using to block ad services.

    Lightning-Ready?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2021 06:11 PM PDT

Firstly, I've been a fan of BitcoinCash since day 1 and have pretty much ignored BTC for BCH since then due to so many reasons, but tried to at least keep up on all the "improvements" to BTC over the years, SegWit, Lightning, etc., even if I see them with BCH-biased eyes most of the time.

Recently I decided to finally actually try setting up a Lightning wallet, via BlueWallet, and funding it directly from a small Coinbase purchase.

I gotta say it worked flawlessly, small withdrawal fee from Coinbase, batched transaction of course, 50s/B or so, $0.65, and then I used it on Lightning for a web purchase, even lower fees obviously.

So my question is, please do your best to remind me why I shouldn't go back to at least sometimes using BTC via Lightning this way.

Is the BlueWallet flawed, not really open source, or non-custodial?

Is the Lightning Node they use compromised or something? Or could be?

I realize it's now off-chain, and potentially censor-able, but has that ever happened yet?

How could it with this public open-source node?

Am I at risk of a low liquidity channel freezing my funds or something?

Are my transactions less anonymous than BCH? (not including CashFusion of course) or actually even more anonymous via Lightning & Tor?

Ok, thanks. I've literally only made this one BTC/Lightning transaction, so genuinely interested in hearing reasons, from both sides, on pros & cons before doing more…

    Thanks.
