Just a quick reminder, that everyone can do something for BCH adoption. Posted: 29 Jun 2021 12:58 AM PDT A few weeks ago someone brought up that BCH is not tagged as an SoV on coinmarketcap and people took time to write them and correct the error. Today I stumbled upon this: https://coinmarketcap.com/crypto-heatmap/ via https://twitter.com/CoinMarketCap/status/1409487109505830916?s=20 BCH second coin on SoV. So even small action can ripple. If you find something you want to purchase, ask them if the accept Bitcoin Cash. Even if they do not accept it, the heard the demand for BCH. If you find a website with wrong information about BCH, take the time to write them. Millions of small transactions will pay for blockreward, and millions of small actions will bring BCH adoption. How much are Hard Forks acknowledged as part of the security model of Crypto Currencies? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:29 PM PDT One question that everyone should be prepared to answer is "What if someone tries to change the code to remove the Bitcoin total supply cap?" We need to acknowledge more than most people are admitting that the Hard Fork is part of the Security Protocol of Bitcoin just as much as Proof of Work is, especially when on-boarding new users and businesses so if a hard fork is needed they will not be caught off-guard. As an example scenario: The fixed total supply feature of bitcoin is NOT set in stone, it is only incredibly popular for now. Back in 2012 i doubt anyone could have predicted that there would be a small block vs big block split in the community. Yet up to this day we all operate as if the total supply cap is set in stone and not going anywhere but even that is not 100% guaranteed since inflationary money is quite popular among mainstream Keynesian economists that dominate the modern economic policy landscape and popular opinion. What if mainstream academia threw its weight behind a code change proposal that removed the total supply cap? That would clearly be an attack on the network/protocol especially if they managed to force their proposal through an institution/reference client that had built up trust within the community and managed to get substantial support whether through activists or passive support from people not willing to change their source of mining/wallet software. But how should the average user or business respond to that attack if it managed to compromise the widely accepted client/software and a hard fork had to be utilized and do a chain split? Businesses should especially be made aware of this risk and while i'm not aware of all the proposals that are made to merchants and other businesses, i do know that consumer marketing doesn't talk about the possibility of a chain split when it comes to assessing the risks of using crypto currency. Sure, everyone will have coins on both sides of the split but now everyone has to make a choice on which coin they will use for their next transaction and there is a high risk of users making a rash decision like selling all of the side of the split that actually had the better long term value while in FOMO to liquidating the "bad side". How does a business that isn't crypto-savy navigate deciding what to do with their split coins and how to accept payments the next day? We as a community need to start thinking hard about this side of the security protocol and for the sake of continued adoption at least informing people about the risks and coming up with solutions that will be satisfactory for non-crypto-savy users and businesses because we have already experienced an attack of this method at large scale. Arguably the first instance and certainly the most devastating was bitcoin core compromising the principles of bitcoin as digital cash that can be used for payments and we can't count on another large scale attack not happening again when the stakes are even higher than they were in 2017. (yes we survived the BSV and BCHA but those were small scale attacks by comparison) [link] [comments]

Something big is happening behind the scenes. I think BCH will be recognized for what it is. Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:40 AM PDT BTC hashrate dump makes BCH much more profitable to mine. Normally hash follows price, but we currently see a decoupling of price and hash. One way has to give. This can not be sustained for longer periods. Without (rumored) price suppression by Bitfinex and Binance (naked shorts) we should be around 0.025 already and not 0.014 [link] [comments]
