The BTC community- what is going on?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:00 AM PDT

I've noticed that if you have any mention of another coin, any questions about BTC or any negative comments about BTC, the BTC community acts in the same way if you mention a positive point about Donald Trump!

I'm seriously thinking of ditching my BTC because I feel the majority of the community cannot see it clearly anymore and that concerns me. With other alts, their communities admit their flaws and accept opinions on them. But in BTC land, it's almost blasphemous to ask how something is ever going to improved eg the transaction fees.

    Anyone else experience this?

Just tried migrating my ETH/USDC funds from uniswap's v2 pool to v3 - was charged $110 in gas fees just to have it run out of gas and fail.

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:11 PM PDT

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm pretty bummed because this was for a mere $900 migration. I appreciate any feedback.

Here is the link to etherscan, gas was set to 42 gwei which was the average price at the time: https://etherscan.io/tx/0xfb9a5cab9442769c4c8ec21a1708acd9648e904199a619b8a6048cce4f2e63d8

    Pros/Cons of staking via Coinbase

    Posted: 05 May 2021 09:37 AM PDT

Few questions: 1. can someone ELI5 what staking is? 2. What advantage does it give me?
    3. Coinbase is advertising up to 6.0% APR. is that in lieu of any growth in value or in addition to? 4. Any negatives if I truly plan to HODL anyway?

Will there be an Ethereum 2.0 Whitepaper, same as the 2013 one from Vitalik?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 08:35 AM PDT

You have probably read the whitepaper (https://ethereum.org/en/whitepaper/) written by Vitalik back in the day, explaining in technical terms the mechanics of Ethereum 1.0.

While I have also read the accompanying material for Ethereum 2.0 (in https://ethereum.org/en/eth2/) in my need to understand more about the upcoming changes and several posts in Vitalik's personal blog (https://vitalik.ca/) explaining concepts/problems/considerations, I feel I am still missing a comprehensive technical description of the technology behind the new version, in a format that could be reviewed and even challenged by people of the field. I understand that probably some systems/algorithmic details are still being discussed and picked as I am writing this, but it would be nice to have at least the overview of the scope and expected outcomes of the project.

Or if I have completely missed that document could you provide a link to it?

    Thanks in advance!

I’m looking for information around the founding of Ethereum and ETH 2.0. If the blockchain can’t be hacked or altered, how does Vitalik have the authority to branch the chain ? What mechanisms is he using and what mechanisms prevent someone else from doing so?

Are we putting faith in what just a few people at the non-profit do and bank on them to make the proper updates?

Large drop in ethereum nodes a few months back?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 09:35 AM PDT

Hi all. I was perusing ethernodes earlier today and saw there was a huge drop in ethereum nodes in March that continues today.

    https://www.ethernodes.org/history

We went from 12,000 nodes to around 4,000 today. Anyone know what happened? Does this bring about ethereum centralization worries? Just looking for explanations/conversations here. Thanks!

Looking for In-dept information on Rollups

    Posted: 05 May 2021 02:37 PM PDT

Do any of you guys know a good source for in-depth technical information on the implementation of Rollups which are coming to ETH 2.0. I'm having a hard time finding a white paper from the ETH foundation and was wondering if one existed or if there was a document recommended with similar scope.

Do US residents use their own personal bank to link to exchanges for deposits/withdrawals, or do they open another account with another bank?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 06:56 PM PDT

I mean obviously for easiness I want to just use my personal bank to link but something inside tells me that's not smart so I should operate crypto/investments with a completely different bank and account?

    What do you do personally?

Staking? Buying? What should I do?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:23 AM PDT

Hello all, Crypto newb here. I am pretty interested in Ethereum and have been watching it for a while. I decided I should hop off the fence and go ahead and sink my teeth in. What would you say is the smartest way to dive in?

I'm using Kraken. Should I buy Ethereum right now? What is going on with ETH2.0?

Should I bother with staking? What IS staking?

Thanks for anyone who responds ^.^

    Crypto Staking... Pros/Cons rewards etc.

    Posted: 05 May 2021 11:40 AM PDT

Hello all. I've been a silent follower of this sub for awhile and I'm here today to ask a couple of questions and get some answers to hopefully point me in the best directions.

I will be coming into some money soon and I'm trying to make better plans for my wife and my future.

Where is the best exchange/system for staking my cryprocurrency? And what are the pros and cons of keeping my ETH on these systems??

How do the rewards work? Is this rewards just for the next step in ETH ie. ETH 2.0

    Thanks guys!

0.94 ETH Sent Out Of My Trust Wallet Last Night (Wallet Compromised? But No Idea How)

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:02 AM PDT

new to Ethereum. Are the minimum fees really $4 ???

    Posted: 05 May 2021 12:48 PM PDT

I'm used to Bitcoin & Bitcoin Cash, where you can send transactions for < $1 if you are willing to wait. Especially BTC lol.

But I just tried to move some ethereum from one wallet to another for $1 (8 GAS?) and the transaction appeared, but hours later disappeared. Do low GAS transactions get removed? This doesn't happen in Bitcoin. I can't imagine high fees are required. What am I missing?

A stablecoin that burns real usd each time a new token is created

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:41 PM PDT

What if there was a stablecoin backed by usd, but when you convert to it you burn your usd?

It would represent the great shift, once you enter in crypto, you aren't able to return to old and mechanical money anymore.

Comparing market cap of crypto to traditional public companies is meaningless

    Posted: 04 May 2021 09:10 PM PDT

I keep reading headlines like "Ethereum is worth more than Honda". The more I think about this the less it makes sense. Market cap for a publicly traded company represents the value of that company, stock price times total shares. "Market cap" for a crypto currency represents the total value of that currency, price times total coins in circulation. And in the case of Ethereum it strives to be nothing less than remaking the economy. A better comparison would be the total money in circulation of a fiat currency like USD. Or GDP of the nation's of the earth. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other serious crypto are going to get monumentally larger than even the biggest company in the world.

    DCA or FOMO

    Posted: 05 May 2021 12:26 PM PDT

Hello all, I need some opinions….. I have a decent amount of ether that I have DCA since January, but I feel like I have been DCA up not down as the price continues to striae and suspect it will continue to. I feel like I should of just put a huge chunk in at the beginning and then maybe another chunk now….but of course would hate for it to drop and not have the cash to pick up the dip. I have another considerable amount of $ and wondering if I should just put it all in or maybe put in $1k each week? If it goes up DCA not the way of it goes down DCA is the way…….what to do….thoughts/advise?
