Sent ETH from another wallet to Celo wallet on coin base. Did I just lose my ETH forever?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 11:03 AM PDT

I sent some ETH from another wallet(and got confirmation info) to coinbase but I accidentally used the CELO wallet ID in coinbase when I was inputing the destination. I have started a customer service request with coinbase but haven't heard anything yet. Did I lose my ETH forever or is there something I can do?

Ethereum's Biggest Pro is Also One of It's Biggest Cons

    Posted: 30 Apr 2021 10:18 PM PDT

Prior to having watched hours of Youtube videos and reading dozens of articles, I had no idea what Ethereum was. I was fully invested in Bitcoin, however, after taking an immense amount of time to educate myself on Ethereum, I noticed what an amazing creation it is.

This brings me to my point, the biggest pro about Ethereum is that it creates a great solution to an enormous problem with complex solutions including many different vocabularies like DAOs, Dapps, Defi, etc. That being said, the problem with such a complex system and technology is that it is a huge turnoff to people trying to start to understand it. I had to dedicate hours of my time and I still only understand a fraction of what Ethereum is.

Ethereum.org does provide some teachings however I find it difficult to understand as a student with no programming background.

The point of this post is I really hope they begin to put more effort towards teaching the general public about what Ethereum is really about, instead of being just another altcoin.

How fast will the ETH supply shrink after the big update ?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 04:52 PM PDT

Exists there some estimation how fast it will shrink ? I mean there exists around 115.000.000 ETH and I am just curios if its possible to calculate how much ETH will be burned (per year) if there exists the same amount of transactions like now.

How does the ETH Dev process work?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 07:48 AM PDT

I always hear there are "thousands" of devs working on the ETH protocol. Coming up with EIPs, etc.

How exactly do they stay organized and make sure they are not duplicating work or going off the rails? Who decides ultimately what protocol changes get adopted?

I just know in my job that getting 10 people to work collectively who sit next to each other is tough.

How does ETH pull it off with thousands all working separately across the globe??

    ETH Staking

    Posted: 01 May 2021 05:56 PM PDT

Got invited today to stake my ETH for 6% at CB. I just want to know if I should do it or wait till EIP1559 is released. Also, what are your experiences staking at CB? Do you guys regret doing it, since you can't take it out for a while?

    Questions on Staking

    Posted: 01 May 2021 04:50 PM PDT

    Hi Folks,

I have some questions on staking. Wanted some answers/clarifications from community.

    1. What is the Best platform staking?
    2. which of these platforms offer staking without moving tokens into their exchange? (would like to keep tokens on ledger wallet and use Metamask for staking contract)
    3. I have received invite for Coinbase staking and I believe current return is 6%. Is this AFTER fees is taken by Coinbase?
    4. Is coinbase staking real staking or just interest? (would like to avoid services such as https://celcius.network )
    5. with coinbase staking, is there a risk of loosing your original eth tokens?
    6. If I decide to stake on Coinbase, any rough idea when I would be able to withdraw?

3K ETH by midnight ? Eastern time

EH2 staking (6.0% APR) --vs-- staking exchange like Celsius, Gemini, BlockFi, etc (approx 2% - 5ish% APY) - which would you choose?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 11:43 AM PDT

Basically the title. I have been holding my ETH in staking apps like Celsius, BlockFi, Nexo, etc. However, now that Coinbase is offering ETH 2.0 at 6% I am tempted to move to it. My highest APY of ETH as of today is on Celsius @ 5.05%. I was getting 5.25% on my ETH at BlockFi up until today, but they dropped their rates a lot, so I'll be dropping them (just BTW).

Email I got from Coinbase on the subject:

You can now start staking your ETH and earn up to 6.00% APR in rewards.

    Here's how it works:

    • Upgrade your ETH to ETH2
Ethereum 2.0 is a series of major protocol upgrades to Ethereum designed to improve speed and efficiency. As part of the upgrade, participants can stake ETH tokens to help secure the network. When the Ethereum 2.0 upgrade is complete, your staked ETH will be upgraded and you'll be able to send and sell your ETH along with the rewards you've earned. Learn more
    • Earn rewards on any balance
Choose how much ETH to stake — there are no minimum amounts required. You can track your rewards in real time from your portfolio. Plus, Coinbase's world-class staking infrastructure manages any slashing risk and you can earn rewards worry free.
    • Wait for ETH2 to launch
After staking, you'll be unable to trade, send, or sell the ETH you've staked until the Ethereum 2.0 upgrade is complete. However, later this year we expect to offer a way for you to trade your staked ETH. Stay tuned.

I am a long term HODL'r that bought ETH back in Fall of 2017 and don't plan on sell any for years to come. Many thanks, all.

Cheers to everyone who stayed up all night to be first to post about ETH hitting $3k

    Posted: 01 May 2021 07:52 PM PDT

Btw. we all know the price of ETH, literally 90% of people on this sub are checking the price every 5 minutes. You don't need to post every time it hits some round number.

In desperate need of help. What happened to LEND!?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 05:57 PM PDT

Ok, really hoping for some help here. I did a lot of investing in crypto in 2018 and then "went away" for a couple years and now I'm back and trying to figure out what happened to my coins.

I stored my crypto offline and had a Ledger to keep everything safe and then use an app called CoinStats to track my holdings so I didnt need to log into MEW every time I wanted to remind myself what I hold.

Now… on CoinStats I have it recorded that on 4/21/2018 I purchased 980 LEND, which, according to CoinStats is worth 5k now. But I cant find the LEND on my Ledger..? It seems like LEND doesnt even exist?

Whats going on here? Did I miss something while I was gone!? Am I fucked? I kept CoinStats updated religiously so if I wrote that I had 980 LEND than I know I have it. Can someone help? Thank you!

Keep in my that before I went away I was somewhat savvy, but its been 2 years and no technology then so I'm a little slow and trying to relearn everything (if your a scammer, dont even try. I know that sounds like easy pickings but I'm not a moron.) Thanks!!

How does everyone feel about buying ETH through paypal?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 11:23 AM PDT

I didnt know Paypal offered ETH til the other day. I threw $100 in it and plan to continue to do a $100 or 200 here and there every now and then. Ive always been pretty sketchy on crypto and just buy index funds and stuff. I feel like getting ripped off by paypal is highly unlikely but i understand the "not your wallet, not your keys" thing. For a very small time ETH investor do you think this is ok, or should i use binance, kraken, etc?

Also. What is the best exchange in your opinion? Ive followed crypto for a long time but always thought it was too volatile for my liking. Open to suggestions. Thanks!

    Can Ethereum consume itself?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 12:35 PM PDT

Ethereum will eventually be able to become deflationary. That can actually happen if demand is high enough.

But what happens if demand is consistently high for decades?

Could this eventually lead to a situation where the network eventually fully cannibalises its own currency?

    How does Ethereum discover nodes?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 04:03 PM PDT

How exactly does Ethereum discover other nodes in a decentralized fashion? I am quite familiar with many of the concepts that build Ethereum but I can't quite understand how the particular function happens?

From my networking knowledge, this would be a process similar to DNS though that is centralized. Is it at all similar?

I know this is likely documented somewhere so if anybody has a link I would be eternally grateful!

    Note:

by Nodes I currently mean the PoW nodes that validate the chain but I would also love to know about this process and/or if it changes in the PoS system.

Hey guys! I am trying to tackle a question as I am new to Ethereum and the crypto world.

What is the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum?

I know Ethereum has Ethereum blockchain, but where does Bitcoin come into all of this?

    Thanks!
