Flexpool Celebrating 1000th Block with Beta MEV Rollout

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 06:40 PM PST

Today marks our 1000th block!!! We thank old and new miners for sticking with us through our ups and downs.

As many are aware, with EIP-1559 coming, miners' profits will shrink. While we continue to work with other miners to push for a peaceful settlement with the development team that will mitigate this loss, we have also pursued other income avenues. After being brought to our attention, we have worked with Flashbots to capture additional revenue for our miners.

This has cumulated in a rollout of our fork of the Geth Ethereum node called FlexGeth. FlexGeth implements bundle-based MEV with a large improvement over the Flashbots MEV-Geth allowing for multiple MEV bundles to be loaded at a speed faster than the base MEV-Geth loads its sole bundle. FlexGeth is being rolled out to all regions except for US-East and Europe so that we may finish a final test of its capabilities before a full rollout. Note that MEV rewards will be distributed to all Flexpool miners on all regions. With this rollout, we have initiated a distribution system to distribute the MEV rewards to our miners. We estimate that this will result in a 4-6% income boost to our miners, which we hope to increase to 20-30% by May once we finish our full MEV rollout. Please note that we have yet to add MEV reward tracking to the website, so the MEV bonus will only appear in your balance.

We have exciting plans over the next few months and hope miners old and new will join us for it.

Please check out our website at flexpool.io for help getting started and links to our discord/telegram and make sure to checkout the Flashbots discord!

    Question

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 08:50 AM PST

I'm mining with my 2070 I looked it up somewhere and it said I should be getting around 40mh/s other places it says 36 but I'm barely scratching 30. I've overclocked and everything +1100 on memory mining with kryptex daggerhashimoto eth

If you are mining with an ASUS TUF 3080s CHANGE YOUR PADS!

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 09:33 PM PST

If you are mining with an ASUS TUF 3080s CHANGE YOUR PADS!

Specifically the backplate ones actually are such bad quality that they start to disintegrate over time. I had no issues for about 3 months and recently I was seeing thermal throttling a tad. I've replaced thermal pads on most of my 3080s besides the zotacs (Idk what it is about zotac but they are easily the least problem filled 3080 ive dealt with) and didn't bother to change the asus tuf 3080s because they were mining great out of the box.

Flash forward to earlier today when I took the card apart and saw this to my horror.

    https://preview.redd.it/pgfg8supuxl61.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e747752553f94351a073413241d26e0a00c46a59

    https://preview.redd.it/g7fxuhlquxl61.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29127205542da8692c8edf3a4a50da57d0d02002

So i spent a good amount of time with some isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush getting all this gunk off the back of the card and replaced with some generic thermal pads and we are back baby!

    https://preview.redd.it/v4kxvsf5vxl61.png?width=1665&format=png&auto=webp&s=c29542a70311f75ea3c704278c489e711dade22f

I am going to check my asus strix 3080 tomorrow to see if this is an asus thing as I havn't experienced this with any other cards. Maybe I just got to my other cards before this type of degradation happened but just a PSA if anyone is mining the card 24/7 to change them before it does whatever happened to the stock thermal pads.

Help setting up Server PSU for rig, currently stuck and toasted my molex cable.

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 07:55 AM PST

Hey guys, been working hard getting my 8x gpu rig up and running. So I've reached an obstacle I wasn't aware of. So I picked up a server psu from deep in the mines, specifically this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/94-Platinum-1400W-PSU-Power-Supply-Kit-220-240v-for-GPU-Mining-12-6-2-PCIE-/112996401763?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

So I'm doing fine until I have to start hooking gpus to the server psu. I was told to power the risers from the same gpu as the cards, so I plugged in the 2 cables for the gpu and 1 for the molex strand. I turn on the psu and it smokes out my molex cord.

So how am I supposed to be powering this from the same source if the breaker board won't run molex connections? Am I missing something?

Am I okay with these mining stats?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 07:35 AM PST

New to mining ethereum and mining in general. My PC is currently with a RTX 3060 TI , getting the following stats:

    Hash: 50 megahash

    Temp: 70 degrees

    Fan speed %: 47

Can I leave it on for months without any damage to my gpu? Currently not overclocked, if i OC what hashrates would I get? Also do you guys turn off the PC periodically to let it rest or no?

Are you still using Phoenix Miner?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 08:56 AM PST

I was going to mine some ETH before the fork, but I was looking into which miner to use and Phoenix seemed like the best option until the very recent situation possibly compromising the program.

Are you still using or did you switch?

    Power supply cable question

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 08:47 AM PST

My system has an RTX 3080 that is connected to my power supply via an 8pin to dual 8pin cable. This cable is connected to one of the PCI-E connectors on the power supply.

I just received a GTX 1080 (8 pin power connection) for free. I bought a riser with all the necessary components but I don't have a power cable for the graphics card. My PC was pre-built so I don't have all the cables that would have originally come with the power supply.

I've been looking on Amazon for the right power cable but can't find what I need. Most of the 8-pin to 8-pin (or 6+2 pin) cables I see state that they are for CPU power only.

Here is a photo of the back of my power supply (red is for PCI-E components) and here is a photo of the connector on the 1080.

Could someone please point me to the proper power cable. Thank you in advance.

    RTX 3080 Safe overclock settings?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 01:00 AM PST

    Hey!
I'm running an EVGA 3080 FTW Ultra for mining with my rig and wanted to know if this is a safe overclock / what exactly shortens the live of the card.
    Power: 60%
    Memory: +1690Mhz
    Core: -100Mhz

Temperatures for the GPU itself is 61°C, for the memory modules its 68-72°C all with fans on automatic, so they can easily be lowered by ramping up the fans manually.

Just wanting to make sure im not actively killing my card xD

    Thanks in advance!

Ok lets talk about the M2_2 slot

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 03:10 AM PST

    Im running

MSI MPG z390 for a mother board

I have MSI radeon Armor 8GB GPU

I have 8 of these but I cant get it to boot.

With 7 (6 standard +1 in the M2_1 slot) it runs like a well oiled machine. Has anyone else been able to get around the M2_2 slot running into the PCIE 16X1 slot.

Also side note, since I've plugged in the M2 slots I've been unable to access the Setup Bios screen at the beginning of the boot period.

I'm happy with the seven, but the people that say they are running 8 is making me extremely jealous.

    HX 1200i Question

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 11:13 PM PST

Hi all, so looking for some advice with regards to the above PSU. Ideally I want to power 2 x 3080's and 3 x 3060Ti's with the PSU. I have worked out the total watts the cards would draw after applying a power limit on each of them and it would seem that the PSU can handle the watts. But here is what I would like to know, perhaps there are some that run similar rigs or something.

    1. The PSU has 6 ports that supply the 4+4 CPU and 6+2 PCIe connectors. Currently 1 is being used by the CPU which leaves 5 ports open, Corsair only supplies 4 6+2 PCIe cables, but I have a fifth, is the PSU limited by the amount of power out of these ports (so I can add a fifth one) or would it be limited to the 4 cables? I understand that the 12V rail can supply 100A and 1200W in total so going by those numbers it will be okay.
    2. Concerning the RTX 3080's, they require 3 x 8-pin connectors to get power, I have seen the recommended image https://i.redd.it/qfwh3kboeyl51.png that suggests two cables should be used, but could the second 8-pin that is open on the second cable be used to power the third port of the second 3080? So in other words that the 6 ports on the two RTX 3080's be powered by three of these cables?

Thanks in advance for the replies :)

rtx 3090 gigabyte - is the vram temperature 100/102 too high?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 11:59 PM PST

ihi guys, I have a 3090 finally, if I put it -150 core, 1050 memory and 84% pl I get 120mh but the power junction is abou 100/102 degree. ATM I lowered the specs and can get 110mh with vram temp at 95 degree.

I tried all the conf I could find but as soon as I go over 110mh the vram temp goes to 100/102.

I know gigabyte has bad overheat for OC but It was the only one I could find at a "reasonable" price...

    here are my questions:

is 100/102 degree in the vram that bad for the gpu?

do you have any config for this gpu that can be used in my case?

I bough some aluminium heat-sink to place on the back of the card, what fan should I use on top of those heat sink? thanks

How can F2pool be so lucky?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 03:13 AM PST

They have mined 9 out of the last 100 blocks with only 3.12 MH/s on VTC. The total network is 3.06 GH/s according to https://miningpoolstats.stream/vertcoin.

RTX 2070 or RX 5700 (Non XT)

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 10:39 PM PST

    Hi

I am getting HP OEM RTX 2070 for equivalent 535$ USD, and RX 5700 for equivalent USD 490$.

I am trying to decide which of the 2 to take and I will really appreciate any input to help me decide between the 2.

I realize that the RX 5700 is good at just 1 algorithm really, Ethash, but it is significantly better than the RTX 2070 on that front. I actually have my current 2070s on Conflux at the moment.

What I would really like to know is what are the other algorithms the 5700 is good at besides Ethash. Minerstat hashrate figures seem to be well below what I am getting on the algorithms I am mining now, so I doubt it's accurate for the others.

Best gpu for gaming that doesn’t make be feel bad about not mining

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 06:47 PM PST

Yeah Ik. Sounds counter intuitive given this sub, but here's the thing... I have a 6 gpu rig with 3 5700xts, 2 3060tis, and a 3070. I have a non active computer (no gpu ), that I occasionally like to game once in a while. Sometimes, I find myself stealing a gpu from my rig, play games for an hour or so, think 'damn I just lost 63 mh/s...' and then proceed to put it back in my rig...

Anyone else deal with this? 😅

So, I'm now on the lookout for a gpu that won't make me feel bad for gaming. What is the best performing gpu for 1440p gaming with a shitty hash rate?
