Mining from 2017, wanted to share a bit of my "luck" Posted: 02 Mar 2021 03:43 AM PST So long story short, ive been mining since 2017, doing quite okey, had an very ugly accident in mid 2020 on my motorcycle (still healing) and around november-december i decided with a lot of time on my hands at home, i might upgrade my rigs, had lots of 1060s and some 1070s, decided to go for 5700xts and boi ou boi, it was one of my best decisions in my life, back in nov-dec the availability was going down but was still able to buy as much as you wanted pretty much (350-420€ per) so i ended up upgrading all of my rigs to mostly 5700xt (some 5600xt and 3060ti) pic for chills :D https://ibb.co/vZj8nR7 (some more gpus off screen) Going back thinking, if i didnt have my accident i wouldnt have time to sell my old gpus to have money for new ones and now their prices are double then msrp so i dont think i would buy them, so at last bit of luck smiled at me :D [link] [comments]

Powering rig with 1x 1200W psu or 2x 550W? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 06:59 AM PST I'm currently planning my first build. I'm looking to get 2x Vega 56. I have to make a decision whether I'm going with 1 or 2 power supplies. I've done a bit of research and some advice against it while others are confident it is perfectly safe. I understand you have to get some adapters to make it work. So should I get one 1200W which costs me about 175 usd or 2x 550W power supplies which cost me around 112 usd in total. I dont know how common this is so im sorry if this is stupid to ask [link] [comments]

How does Nicehash compare to other mining options? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 02:24 AM PST Is the profitability of Nicehash alright? Or does mining directly by finding a pool online using t-rex or ethminer and getting paid in eth then converting to btc more profitable than getting paid by nicehash directly in btc? Which altcoin provides the fastest payout? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 02:16 AM PST I have been ethereum mining for a few days with my mobile rtx 2060, and currently i have a hashrate of 23MH/s, mining in etherminer pools, but their minimum amount at which the payment is issued is 0.1 Ethereum, which will take more than 2 months to mine on my hardware, i have checked other pools aswell and almost all i checked of have minimum amount to 0.1 Is there a mining pool which has lower minimum amount payout, like 0.01 Ethereum Or any other altcoin which has a faster payout solution, like within a week i can mine and have the payment in my personal wallet? My laptop specifications: name : Predator Helios 300 2020 edition CPU: intel i7-10750H GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 mobile (6GB VRAM) (80W TDP, can boost upto 90W in turbo profile) RAM : 16GB DDR4 2933Mhz [link] [comments]
Looking for a mining hobbyist/professional to interview for a research project Posted: 02 Mar 2021 02:03 AM PST Hi, I hope this isn't against the sub's rules, I chose to research gpu mining with my group, to determine whether or not people should get into the scene, as well as the environmental consequences in regards to energy consumption. For this we would love to perform a vocal interview with someone in the community to get their opinion on a bunch of topics. If this sounds interesting to you, please dm me :) thanks! Are my pcie slots dying or what is happening? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 04:18 AM PST I have been trying to figure out what's going on for a few days now and would appreciate some input from the people here if you have a moment. I am using a TUF gaming motherboard with 2x pcie 16x slots and 2x pcie 1x slots. I am trying to connect 4x 3080 GPUs. I previously had 2x 2060 in the 16x slots and 2x 2080ti in the 1x slots via febsmart pcie risers. This setup was working for about a year with no issues. I was able to get 3 of the 3080s to recognize at one point, but after 24 hours of mining and then attempting to switch to gaming mode via nicehash quickminer so I could use the primary display GPU as a 3D rendering device for my work, the display GPU no longer was taking CUDA commands from my 3d software. So I tried restarting and ever since that moment I have never been able to get the same pcie 1x slot to work again. I could put the same GPU in another slot, either 1x or 16x, but never that same slot, or it would not even post when booting. So I stupidly did the same thing again, this time burning the other 1x slot. Now neither of my 1x slots are allowing a pcie riser connected GPU to be recognized, where previously both of those slots were working. Have I burned these slots or what? [link] [comments]
6 GPU motherboard recommendations Posted: 02 Mar 2021 03:28 AM PST Hi can someone recommend a motherboard for 6 GPU mining? I ordered an Asrock H81 Pro and then a G3220T CPU. After 1 week the mobo seller it's faulty and can replace it with a Biostar H81S2 (no hdmi). Is this a good board? I want to stick to lga1150 due to cheaper parts but guess maybe I can go 1151. What should I go for? [link] [comments]

Rx 580/570/480/470 4gb, what coin to mine, and what GPU to use? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 02:46 AM PST I've been looking for a card that's relatively cheap, and could only find the 4gb variants. I've heard that I can't mine Ethereum, which was the most profitable option. What other choices do I have to mine? And since all of the above GPU have similar-ish hash rates, is there any reason to choose a newer, or -80 card? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Mar 2021 09:56 PM PST Has anyone tried cleaning their rigs while they mine? I just blasted compressed air over some cards and the amount of dust that blew out it pretty incredible. What are you all doing about dust management? [link] [comments]
3080 FE - 12.8 w/mk thermal pads + Arctic 4 paste + heatsink = only 2c drop? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 04:23 PM PST
Posted: 02 Mar 2021 12:29 AM PST So guys, I'm using my Red Devil 5700XT to mine and as you know while I'm doing that the system on Windows suffers from sluggish performance and becomes unsuable, even Chrome browsing is freezing or sluggish at best. Since I have the Intel Core i9 9900k, it comes with an iGPU UHD 630. It's actually decent for simple work even video editing. The question is: How do I force apps or the system to use it by default while I'm mining with the 5700XT. Because my cpu stays idle at 3% usage, so I know that the system is trying to use my discrete GPU to render webpages etc but there are no resources left for that ( 100% GPU use on Nicehash ). I remember with Nvidia Control settings ( Laptop ) you can choose iGPU or Discrete GPU to use for each program. I can't seem to find similar settings in the Radeon Adrenaline Software, or maybe I missed it somewhere. If there was a way to actually pull this off, that would be awesome. Since as you know I can't find any GPUs for a decent price to add to my Rig and game/work while mining ( that was my idea first as a gamer ) Thanks a lot for your feedback 🤓 [link] [comments]
