Want a real unpopular opinion? ADA is over-hyped

    Posted: 10 Mar 2021 05:20 PM PST

I strongly believe ADA is over-hyped. Over the many years there were many "Ethereum-killers" that came out from NEO to EOS to Tezos. Each time people were saying the same things like "Yes, now this is definitely the one that will replace Ethereum and I haven't missed the boat on it" and guess what they never did. This is the boat I believe ADA is in. It isn't all just about the tech. Smart contracts are currently not as big in the world to the point where superior tech makes that big of a difference (hence why all the other "Ethereum killers failed" even with better tech). Ethereum has such a huge network effect as well as first-mover advantage where I can't see it getting flipped any time soon, especially with EIP 1559 coming out in July and ETH 2.0 being fully released (within a year?). At this point, most people/whales that are buying ETH are not in it for the tech but for what it is - the second most valued crypto (and generally more stable than the altcoins). Do I see ADA raising in value in the short-term or mid-term? Probably (assuming they deliver on what they say). Do I see it ever competing with ETH in the long term? Definitely not. Let the downvotes and hate comments commence, but hey you guys wanted a real unpopular opinion lol.

When every crash is a "dip" and every bounce is a "we have liftoff" -- that's how a frog gets boiled to death. 2017 Crumbs of Wisdom thread for Bull Runs.

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 12:31 AM PST

Like many of you, I got burned by hodling too long through 2017/2018. "Hodl" is a stupid meme for newbs. I learned the hard way.

So called "fundamentals" ('solid team', 'awesome project', 'upcoming partnerships') don't reflect the price in a company that received its funding before it has ever proven anything (that's the primary difference between an ICO and an IPO). Where my REQ marines at?

When this bull run is actually over (and personally i don't believe that it is yet), you probably won't come to accept it until your portfolio is sitting at 50% of its ATH and your "stack" of crypto has become a "bag" you're stuck holding "until you reach XX number again--then you'll sell for sure."

Here's the reality: Once the bubble pops, every crash is going to seem like a "dip" and every "bounce" is going feel like a "this is gentlemen." That's how frogs get boiled to death.

Here are some principles you need to keep in mind if you want to walk away from this bull run with a fat stack of cash:

    1. Recognize and accept that you won't sell the exact top, and that--subsequently--your portfolio's "true value" is only what you sell it for--not what it's ATH was at one point.
    2. Pick a realistic sum (take your dream figure and subtract 50%) at which you're going to cash out a certain percentage--or all of it--and (here's the important part): STICK TO IT.
      1. This latter point is most crucial, because as the sum grows and actually hits that number you picked, you're going to be very tempted to leave it in "just a little longer". That's greed talking. If you ask Greed "how much is enough?" the answer is always "a little bit more." Have discipline in this and you'll win. Let greed take over and you'll lose. If you let greed govern your decisions in a bull market, then you'll let panic govern your decisions in a bear market.
    3. You can't predict the future--so don't judge your past self for knowledge you have today. "Why didn't i buy that coin?!?! it just mooned!" Or "Why didn't i sell before it crashed?!" You know what happened yesterday because it's today--you can't get mad at yourself for not possessing today's knowledge on the day before yesterday.
    4. My final and MOST IMPORTANT point:
      1. As I said before your portfolio is only worth what you actually sell it for. So do NOT focus on how much it was or how much it could have been -- if you make this mistake you will be dissatisfied at turning $1000 into $100,000. If you've only got a $1,000 right now, you're probably thinking "of course i'd be happy with $100k!" -- but when you get there you'll be holding out for 200/300/1 million. In your greed, you won't be satisfied with an enormous return--especially if you keep thinking about how you could have had $1,000,000 if you just "bought that dip" that no one saw coming or "held xyz coin" a little bit longer. Focus on what you have today--not what you might have tomorrow.

Crypto veterans what other wisdom do you want to add to this list?

Nano network is slowing to a crawl after a multi-week attack.

    Posted: 10 Mar 2021 08:20 PM PST

Over the past week, a spammer has been sending tens of millions of tiny transactions to new wallets. This has been bloating the Nano blockchain which has been putting stress on the validators.

They were handling it fairly well, until today. The attacker ramped up his attack and averaged 60 TPS, with bursts up to 500 TPS. This overloaded many of the nodes and they have started desyncing. Confirmation time is over 5.5 seconds and climbing fast. Before the attack, it was around 0.2 seconds. Edit: Seems like a lot of transactions aren't going through at all.

Its unfortunate for the network, but fascinating to watch from a data perspective. I linked some resources below.

The Greatest Guide on how to Sell Moons with HoneySwap and Bitmax to reduce Gas Fees.

Hey guys, Seems like we need some quality content these days so guess it's time for another one of my big text posts.

    ______________________________________________________________________________

As a heads up, swapping moons outside of Reddit carries risks - https://np.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/j6asrw/warning_moons_are_in_beta_using_them_outside_the/ and is discouraged. However, I understand there are people willing to accept these risks who are looking for a way to purchase moons off the Honeyswap exchange, and hopefully this will help some of you out.

    _____________________________________________________________________________

    Requirements:

    • Moons in Vault
    • MetaMask
    • Use Honeyswap
    • Trading account at Bitmax.io if you want. *Heads-up Bitmax require 24hours of new accounts before withdrawal !* No KYC Needed
    • Some Ethereum to pay Fees
    • Brain and Pulse

    Install MetaMask

    1. First go to Metamask site and download the wallet addon: https://metamask.io/
    2. Install it, Set a password and save your seed at a safe place!
    3. click on Ethereum Mainnet and click on "Custom RPC"

    https://preview.redd.it/82ew5zvjvdm61.png?width=299&format=png&auto=webp&s=e45e485079fff609bb883a13bc5e5c9969bc3c20

Get Ethereum on Rinkeby to pay fees

Get some Rinkeby eth from faucets. https://faucet.rinkeby.io/ http://rinkeby-faucet.com/ https://faucets.blockxlabs.com/ - You will need this eventually. It's for the rinkeby network, which moons are on, The second one worked for me.

Send moons to your MetaMask Wallet

    1. Follow this youtube Guide for sending your moons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5osHQxMaS0 or continue reading
    2. Set up your Custom token to see moons in Rinkeby network By click on Add Token, Add custom token and writing the details below :
    • Moon Smart Contract Address: 0xDF82c9014F127243CE1305DFE54151647d74B27A
    • Token Symbol: MOON
    • Decimals: 18

    1. Go to your Vault and send your moons from your vault to your MetaMask Wallet, Send 1 moon firstto make sure you are doing it right!

Great now you should have some Ethereum and 1 Moon at least at your Rinkeby network.

    https://preview.redd.it/5pl66z6nvdm61.png?width=439&format=png&auto=webp&s=cff7360603d6c51c2903638655cfdf2777dbd94e

    Exchanging Moons to XMoons

    1. Go to the Bridge https://moon-exchange.herokuapp.com/exchange
    2. Exchange Moons to XMoons by Selecting the Network Rinkeby and exchanging it (Uses The fees you got from the Faucet Earlier, Wait till the bridge is done.

    https://preview.redd.it/9k1190oovdm61.png?width=1417&format=png&auto=webp&s=b18ad71e7abadc80109f112f06b37b52e8fe93c3

Great now you should have 1 xMoon at XDai network!

    https://preview.redd.it/n0yetqqqvdm61.png?width=447&format=png&auto=webp&s=fad13c95b886cb120677343e58166efc2b0a8eb2

Swap xMoons to XDai Via HoneySwap

    1. Go to Honeyswap https://app.honeyswap.org/#/swap (select the right network ofc)
    2. and Exchange your XMoon to XDAI, This time you gonna need to pay REAL Ethereum Fees so make sure to send some Ethereum to your MetaMask Wallet to cover it.
    3. Take a look at the price and price impact before you exchange!

    https://preview.redd.it/py5x6z4svdm61.png?width=569&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad48371dd040be02e5e617f1566477ff71d7c692

Great now you have XDai in your wallet, now you have two options:

    1. Use https://bridge.xdaichain.com/ to Bridge between XDai to Dai, Send Dai to your wallet, Exchange or what ever you wanna do with it The Con is that you gonna need to pay more Ethereum Fees! the pro is that it's pretty fast and easy.
    2. The Longer and Cheaper way Via Bitmax that I will explain.

Exchange XDai to USDT via Bitmax.io

    1. https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/xdai as it seems Bitmax offers a trading pair of XDAI/USDT We can use it to reduce GAS Fees.
    2. Open up a BitMax.io Account Wait 24 Hours so you can withdraw from it! NO KYC NEEDED!
    3. Send your XDai to Bitmax.io Send 1 XDai first to see you are doing it right!
    4. Exchange your XDai to USDT and from here on you are free to do what ever you want with your USDT, Send it to your fav Exchange, Exchange it for some other coins , whatever!

To Buy Moons you can also Buy XDAI at Bitmax.io or Dai and bridge them, Swap them on Honeyswap and send to reddit.

Easier Possibility but less Profitable to buy and sell moons is Kuyumcu, It's much easier to buy with if you have Nano or Banano BUT It's gonna cost you more .

currently 82 moons will give you 1 Nano via Kuyumcu

If you gonna sale 8200 Moons you will get 100 nano that is currently 541$

While 8200 moons according to CoinGecko is 619$

Many things can change but it seems unprofitable when you sell or buy large amounts of moons.

Hope that helped Some people to sell and Buy moons more easily with a Step By Step guide + Pictures.

I Wanna Thanks u/LargeSnorlax for his last guide that inspired me and helped me: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/kpza3l/full_guide_to_buying_reddit_moons_on_honeyswap/

Can we all collectively agree that Binance withdrawal fees are ridiculous and do something about it?

    Posted: 10 Mar 2021 03:24 PM PST

Can we @ cz on twitter? Can we make a fuss about this? Some exchange/platforms are now offering free withdrawals or x free withdrawals per month, however Binance increased some withdrawal fees just yesterday.

    Let's see some examples:

    BTC - 0.0005 = $28

    ETH - 0.008 = $14.4

    BAT - 24 = $21

    LINK - 0.6 = $18

    AAVE - 0.1 = $41

A person that has $1000 between only these 5 assets will lose $122. That's over 12% in fees, around 10% in Binance favor depending on gas costs.

If one has a few more coins, which is more than likely, the percentage increases by a lot. Binance want to keep coins on their exchange at all costs, we as users should complain about this.

Memes were banned and now this sub keeps on falling for obviously fake sob stories. Why can't y'all use some critical thinking?

    • Is 70yo gramps who is afraid of online banking really going to wire $100k to Binance, and talk to support via fucking ProtonMail?

    • Is some schmuck who took 3 decades to save $1000 really going to YOLO it all into Bitcoin?

    • Is some dude with fucking terminal liver disease really going to spend precious days trying to get his shitcoin back instead of applying for an emergency medical loan, which you can get in less than a day?

Come on folks. Is it that hard for y'all to use your brains?

I bought 1M Doge many years ago for less than 1000USD and kinda forgot about it. Over the years it has been surprisingly one of the best performing coins in my portfolio.

But looking at the current numbers, it seems like I could buy a whole Bitcoin if I trade all my long-held Doge. What should I do. I wonder what I'll regret more later, that I exited Doge now or not having purchased another whole BTC when I had the chance, perhaps my last chance before BTC gets too expensive.

love to hear some legit opinions.

Also, don't forget to sort by new and upvote useful content. There is so much info/dd that sits at 100 or even 10 upvotes while your complaint posts flood the front page. Oh and, no, we don't need to ban everything and turn this sub into a desert.

I'm ready for the downvotes, bring it on.

To those thinking of buying Crypto from Robinhood or Wealthsimple, DON'T!!!

    Posted: 10 Mar 2021 06:36 PM PST

I can't speak for Robinhood but I can for Wealthsimple.

WS is a great and simple platform. It really is. Have had no issues buying or selling Bitcoin and Ethereum on it.

Having said that the coins on WS don't belong to you. You can't withdraw the coins to a wallet. Your only option is to sell the coins and cash out.

Initially I thought I was fine with it because I had plan on holding them long term. But as time went on, I realized the value of actually holding your own coins in your own wallet. You can trade/buy/sell them any time. And in the near future, most businesses would allow you to buy things with crypto.

So a lesson learned. If you want to buy crypto, buy them through an exchange and store them on your own wallet. Preferably a hardware wallet such as Ledger and Trezor.

I think Cardano is not what everyone think it is.... and you should be careful where you put your money in.

I think Cardano is not what everyone think it is.... and you should be careful where you put your money in.

    Hi there,

sorry to bring bad news but lately Cardano is showing a little bit fishy.

Along with a friend we're trying to get the first "getting started" tutorial working directly from Cardano's dev page.

16 days already passed with not a single answer from the devs or anyone, just more people trying to get the tutorial done with no luck...

I can think that devs are working on other stuff or whatever but If this Charles "don't know what" wants people to adopt the technology then why are they not giving support to the first tutorial on their page?

    Tried several other channels:

    • CardanoDevelopersOfficial's telegram
    • Cardano's Telegram
    • Cardano's Reddit
    • Cardano's forums

Spoiler Alert... no luck. Not a single answer. Each question I posted then the admins flooded the channels with marketing about cardano and their fork and all that bullshit.

This is just a heads up.

Here's the github issue we raised like two weeks ago https://github.com/cardano-foundation/testnets-cardano-org/issues/488

EDIT: Here's a post from 14 days ago.

EDIT2: Wow, I'm getting downvoted hard, shillers are on their peak. I don't mind.

EDIT3: Found my support ticket https://iohk.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/116572

EDIT4: duh, you can't see the ticket... adding a screenshot. 14 days.

Message to Ether miners who are planning 51% attack on Ethereum network against EIP-1559 proposal from User and Dapp developer perspective.

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 03:17 AM PST

Yes you guys secure the network but you are just one branch of the ecosystem. From Dapp developer perspective, we develop application and bring more users to the Ethereum ecosystem, this way you guys get to process more transactions and earn more ether. Recently network fees have sky rocketed to thousand of dollars for just basic transaction, as a Dapp developer this is nightmare and threat to innovation. Think about simple projects like blockchain based passport or Covid certification on blockchain, if it cost thousand of dollars just to post simple information than no body will use it. In order to have mass adaptation Ethereum ecosystem needs to figure out on lowering the gas cost.

With some protocol changes In short term you might loose some revenue but in long run with the mass adoption and proposed deflationary model, this will generate you more income.

Currently you guys have become greedy and think that you are sole part of the ecosystem while neglecting rest of us(User, Hodlers, Dapp and Core developers). I seriously don't give shit about 51% attack, probability of having it is just a freaking tiny fraction. Even though if you guys succeed, there will be solution, the sooner you guys try the better for the whole ecosystem so that there will be better algorithm to prevent such attack.

Lower network gas fee is the future and is necessary for innovation and mass adaptation. Accept it. In long run we all win.

****Bullish on Ethereum(most undervalue project right now)****
