The Rule of 72, How Long Till I Double My Money?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 07:49 PM PST

One of my favorite nuggets I came away from my time in college was learning about the rule of 72. Basically, you can figure how long it will take to double your investment by dividing your interest rate into 72. So for example, If I invest $10,000 and make 10% interest each year, I will double my money in 7.2 years (72/10 = 7.2).

Now fast forward to the cryptoverse where you can make 5-10% gains in the course of a few minutes. Now, you can apply this same concept and double your stack in a fraction of the time. Compound interest is a beautiful thing.

With that being said, some people can not handle trading and should just HODL. You know yourself best.

I have $100 to throw on a crypto and forget about it, what should I gamble on?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 03:15 PM PST

I got into crypto late and missed the bitcoin train. I also don't know that much about cryptocurrency. My partner and I have some money in bitcoin now. We also have a little money in AMP and Ethereum. We plan on slowly putting a % of the money we put into cash savings into the cryptocurrency we have.

That being said, we want to expand our crypto portfolio and want to gamble on a crypto we don't have. This week we have an extra $100 we can put on any crypto (or we could add onto one that we already have). We wouldn't mind gambling on a crypto that we set aside and don't look at for quite awhile or putting $100 on something that we slowly add more money to over time.

Looking for advice on what to put $100 on as a starting point with a new crypto or a throwaway "let's gamble on it and see if anything happens". One catch is that we are located in Hawaii and it is very hard to buy crypto here. Most exchanges don't work in Hawaii. Right now I am stuck with what is available on Gemini. I am attempting to get an Uphold account, but so far have only run into problems and a restricted account. I have tried every exchange recommended for Hawaii and Gemini is the only one to come through. So that limits what we can put money into.

    Thanks!

EMP and the impact on crypto

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 03:20 PM PST

Has anyone considered the impact a global war using EMP would have on the crypto markets? Unlike commodities, property and fiat currencies, the crypto world is 100% digital. Which means, if the electricity dies on a global scale so does crypto. (Now lets make a film about this!)
