    Influence of XRP trading restrictions

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 09:32 PM PST

XRP has recently gotten some trading, e.g. coinbase suspended it, and US citizens can no longer buy it. Yet, I have yet to see an impact on the price of this. Is it not coming and why? I'm curious behind for the logic behind this...

US User w/ XRP in Binance - Am I screwed?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 10:22 PM PST

So several years back I bought some XRP and Tron on Binance and basically forgot about it once they more-or-less crashed. Was thinking about it today in light of all the stock market chaos. Logged in and I see that my funds are still there - which I would like to withdraw. I tried converting to bitcoin but received a message saying something like "We're unable to help per our Terms of Service." Spent a few minutes on Google and it looks like they aren't serving US customers anymore?

So is there anyway I can transfer/withdraw these funds?

It's not a significant amount of money (anymore lol) so I'm not pulling my hair out over it - but any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Can a digital currency be too big to become a security?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 07:57 AM PST

Let me explain a thought that crossed my mind and here me out before responding.

Obviously we all saw what happened to the $GME stock over the past few days. Retail investors coming together, collectively shaking out the massive firms of wall street. Now I am not insinuating anything here, let that be clear, but it did make me think of the following question:

Can a digital currency be too big to be deemed a security?

Imagine this; daily volume of XRP is $2bn and current value of XRP is $12bn. For the SEC to be dealing with a lawsuit in which $12bn is 'at stake' (cause lets be honest, if US says XRP is a security, the future of XRP doesn't look bright, even if other countries declare the opposite) is pretty use. They haven't had to deal with a similar sized case in crypto before.

    The SEC's mission is:

"Our mission requires tireless commitment and unique expertise from our staff of dedicated professionals who care deeply about protecting Main Street investors and others who rely on our markets to secure their financial futures."

So imagine the $GME situation would happen for XRP and over the course of a few weeks, XRP has a daily volume (not depending on any effort from Ripple, but from retail investors, independent exchanges, etc.) far larger than before and a price that brings the total XRP value back to ATH or above (so minimum $140bn). Could the case become too risky to be continued? Could there be too much money at stake, too many 'Main Street' investors at risk for it to be continued by the SEC?

    The petition is gone

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 08:27 AM PST

In case you haven't noticed, the petition pertaining to Ripple is gone well before the deadline of 01.28.2021 and far short of the 100,000 signature goal. The petition on whitehouse.gov, which had over 24,500 signatures, is inaccessible and theories abound as to why. Although the efficacy of the effort was debatable, this news may bother some individuals who thought they had a voice.

According to Wikipedia, the We The People petitioning site) was "Taken down by the Biden administration on January 21, 2021". At the moment, petitions.whitehouse.gov simply redirects to the new whitehouse.gov website. The petition website has been taken down before so this may just be maintenance or redesign.

Note: There is no evidence that this is an effort targeting Ripple, XRP II, the SEC, FreeRoss, nor the Death Star economic stimulus and job creation measure.
