Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:49 AM PST Sure, you can set your computer to mine when it's idle, but I use my computer for a lot of other things than gaming and I want it to mine all the time, unless I'm running a game. I wrote a program (for Windows!) that monitors if a game is running or not. When no game is running my mining scripts are started up. When a game starts up all mining scripts are stopped. It's a pretty simple concept really. You could also set it to stop mining if another GPU intensive process has started, like Photoshop or something, idk. There might be other ways to solve this as well, but it's a pretty simple program to use so I just did this my way! Here's what the output looks like. If you're interested feel free to check out the README and download and use it! [link] [comments]

Should I buy used GPUS on AliExpress? Whats your experience? Posted: 25 Jan 2021 03:29 AM PST So i found some RX 580 8GB models on AliExpress, costing about 80€ each, which seems too cheap for me, has anyone tried one of these? I know there are some fake and some legit GPUs in there but 80€ for an 580 seems too cheap to be true, also the seller has 0 reviews. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Jan 2021 07:14 AM PST Hello! I'm having this problem with my mobo when i try to plug 6 gpus. It's the MSI Z390-A PRO, I can use it with 4 rx570 but when i connect a 5th card i get the Insufficient PCI resources message. Tried updating the BIOS, enabled UEFI and Legacy mode, PCI Gen 1/2/3, with different latency. Enabled/Disabled 4G. But nothing. I had another mobo, an MSI B450 PRO with 6 pci slots, so i plugged all my gpus there and it works. But i need the z390 to work, any suggestions? Ty! [link] [comments]

HiveOS runs for a few hours, but then stops... Posted: 25 Jan 2021 12:04 AM PST Hey guys, I just set up my first mining rig and I'm using HiveOS. I was super excited, but a few hours after setting it up, my HiveOS went offline. When I went to go check on it, my rig was still on, but HiveOS wasn't online. My setup is like 45 minutes from me, so I just want it to be more stable. Even if it means a lower hashrate I just want something consistent. What can I do to keep my HiveOS running more stable? Here's my current setup. MOBO: H110 Pro BTC+ CPU: 3930 GPU: AMD RADEON RX 570 (3) I am seriously considering switching to NiceHash OS, but let me know what y'all think. EDIT: Please see my screenshot below of overclocking. https://imgur.com/a/rkqBUnU [link] [comments]
What is the best open air mining rig case that you can make from buying stuff at Home Depot. Posted: 25 Jan 2021 05:56 AM PST Bought one open air mining rig cases from Amazon and I must say that the person who designed it made it as infuriating as possible to assemble it. Can any of you guide me for an open air mining rig case that's either easy to assemble or can be bought from a Home Depot? It's a 6 GPU mining case, thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

Phoenix miner ignoring -straps command on rx 5700 (Phoenixminer/Awesomeminer) Posted: 25 Jan 2021 01:05 AM PST I'm trying to up the timings with -straps but the command it's just being ignored, nothing comes on the console regarding it. I already set it up on another pc with a 1080 ti and it's working wonders (-straps 2) and if I put the command with a gtx 1660 super I get unsported error(wich is fine). With the Rx 5700 I get nothing. Is there any software that can allow me to edit timings without flashing the bios?? Also I can't find anywher what are the default timings so I don't know what's the baseline [link] [comments]
Any coins to mine on an old 280x? Posted: 24 Jan 2021 05:07 PM PST I have an old power color 280x that i used to use, collecting dust. Are there any coins that can be mined with this thing? 3GB ram so ETH is out of the question. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jan 2021 07:16 PM PST I have read a few threads with people who have nothing but problems. I am one of those that have issues with the min power possible is around 142W and the hash rate won't go above 58. Should I just sell it to a gamer and buy another card? [link] [comments]

Pros and Cons of these miners? Posted: 24 Jan 2021 06:47 PM PST Hello, i'm trying to get into mining. I hear AIOMiner was great for mining via software, but something happened to AIOMiner? I'm not sure. I hear Nicehash is trash, but I'm looking for a reason as to why? GPU mining is dead apparently right? Ironically, people say that we should continue to GPU mine? A lot of people are divided on this one. Cudominer, Minerstat, CGminer, and Smos are all good options too I hear. I plan on buying some coinminers and not sure if these would be compatible or not, I hear there are problems with some software miner/hardware miner compatibility that I was not completely sure about. Frankly, after viewing many other posts everyone seems to be divided as to what the general best miner was, which was AIOMiner, but I'm not sure anymore. Like I said, everyone seems to be divided on every subreddit and post that I have seen. I'm hoping to narrow it down with some pros and cons through these as many people are always vague about in these posts. Any help? Thanks homies. [link] [comments]
When will my PC fall in performance? Posted: 24 Jan 2021 06:03 PM PST Hi, when will my cpu and gpu become unusable, because of tear and wear from mining or will at least crank down at performance? I will mine anyways, because of free electricity where i live so thats very good. Will be running 24/7, 1060 6gb, i3 8100, 20gb ram. Thanks for any answers! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:57 AM PST Hi everyone, in anticipation of setting up my first rig, have some questions: (10x 3060ti on 2x 1050W PSU, one mobo with risers and one pci-e splitter->4 USB3.0 Ryzen 5 5600x, 8gb ram) OS- I saw that windows limits to 8 GPUs so I decided on using Linux, however, I've learned about hive OS, is this the simplest solution for me? I want to mine on ethermine with trex miner (I have two gaming PCs doing that and it's been going well) I'm leaning to hive OS, as it seems super straightforward, but can someone confirm my intentions with it? Once Ether cannot be mined I will switch to nicehash miner. Placement: I bought a sexy cheap three tier rack off of Amazon - bottom will be PSUs and MOBO, and the top two I will split 5 GPUs on each tier ( it isn't not that wide) and 5 will fit nicely with spacing. Now, does orientation of GPU matter? If I have them flat on the rack (airflow up/down)) is that ok? Do they need to be suspended by some sexy zip ties? If so, would it suffice to suspend only where the HDMI slot stuff is for the cards (hang them vetically) or should they hang horizontally. Lastly: static Since the frame is metal and my plan is to just leave all components resting (plus some zip ties) on it... I worry about destroying some component. Is there something that I need to do to address this possibility? Thanks for giving this a read :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jan 2021 03:04 PM PST As of right now I'm unable to run more rigs at my place, and don't have the option in the foreseeable future to expand my electricity supply. I was thinking it might be sustainable and profitable to rent space from a miner hosting service in the Scandinavian region of Europe, since their climate is advantageous for mining and their electricity cost is relatively low. Does anyone have any experience with them? If yes could you suggest a couple of them to check out? Thanks in advance Csavar [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jan 2021 12:56 PM PST Hi all, I'm relatively new to mining but not to crypto as a whole. I picked up a rig for a great price last week and have been dealing with headache after headache. I dove in with NiceHash. Phoenix throws a benchmark error even when benching one card at a time. lolMiner crashes my rig on install, unless I first install and run NBMiner, then I can get lolMiner to install and run but both of these crash my rig at random intervals between 5-30 mins. I uninstalled everything except TRM, and now I can get up to 4hrs before my rig crashes. I sort of gave up troubleshooting and automated everything to restart after crashing. Now that I found OC settings that let me mine stable at 150mh/s with my 5x580s and have run for a few days, I've noticed that NH Miner tells me my profitability is a little over $12 CAD. Perfect. However, in the app I've noticed that my current profitability is hovering between $3-$5 per day. My 'Accepted hashrate' is only 40mh/s. I have no rejected hr. After leaving it overnight I've added just $2 to my balance. My next move is to get off NH and mine directly, but before I go down that rabbit hole I wanted to see if anyone here could chime in. Perhaps someone could help me better understand NH accepted hashrate? I get that I'll only be paid based on demand for hashrate on NH but it seems like I've got some other issue based on the massive revenue disparity between NH Miner and the real earnings displayed in the NH app. Thanks in advance 🙏 [link] [comments] |
