Stored New gpu's dying like crazy Posted: 01 Jan 2021 03:17 PM PST Hello fellow gpu miners, I have been hit by this really annoying problem that I kinda need some insight on. I've been buying new msi rx 580's (single fan reference cards) from a guy who supposedly bought them 3 years ago for a large mining venture that failed even before it started so the cards are still brand new. I have to Date bought 32 cards( in a span of a month or 2) , of which I have returned 4 already back to the seller because of - 1 card catching on fire the moment I turned it on - 2 worked for a few hours I think then died ( 1 of which turns on for a few seconds then dies) - 1 card kept going missing a few hours into mining of which the duration kept decreasing until it started turning off a few minutes into mining Now 1 more card that has been working for some days died, and 1 other card has also been doing the turning off every few hours. Now the seller has been nice by returning the 4 cads but it feels like him and I are at the end of our patience as 6 out of 32 cards breaking is just way too many and I just don't understand how so many gpu's could fail, could it be because they have been stored for way too long or could there be some other reason. I was running 16 rx 570s with no issues whatsoever for almost 2 years until I sold them 2 weeks ago and replaced them with rx 580s. My rigs specs are 3 evga gq 1000w psu's and 1 courair 1000w psu, over 2 rigs (h110 btc+) , each psu running 6 gpus, which are undervolted overclocked and running on simple mining os (ik I'm mildly overburdening the psu but that's only currently while new server psus are shipping) and I have 1 rig with 7 cards and a 1600w supernova evga. If anybody happens to have any input on why so many cards are failing, could it be my psu's or is it the stored cards, I've currently decided to stop buying any more cards from the guy unless hes willing to provide atleast a 1-2 month warranty on each card. Sorry for the gigantic wall of text but I really need some insight for this issue and I tried to provide as much info as possible. Thank you for your help. [link] [comments]

Dialing in OC - EVGA 3080 XC3 Ultra Posted: 01 Jan 2021 10:32 AM PST I've just started mining for the first time using T-Rex miner in Windows on my 3080 (gaming PC). I've found a stable setting of 75% PL, -200 core, +1000 memory, 60% fan speed, but my temp never reaches over 64C. I know low is good for temp, but I'm wondering if I'm leaving money on the table by not pushing this a bit harder. How would you proceed from here? I had my memory OC at around +1200 and it seemed stable but it would crash/restart after a few hours. Would I just need to up the PL and up the memory OC until I hit something that works well? Right now I'm averaging 95 MH/s, so I don't imagine I'd go too much higher than this, but if I could squeak out another 5%, I might as well? [link] [comments]
3060TI rejected shares if I OC before generating DAG Posted: 01 Jan 2021 02:17 PM PST I'm currently mining Ethereum with a 3060TI and noticed that if I overclock after running the mining software and generating the DAG, I am able to get ~62 MH/s with memory set at +1350 without any rejected shares whatsoever. But if I run that same OC before starting the miner, I almost only get rejected shares unless I lower my OC. Does anyone know what is happening here? Btw, this happens on all the miners I have tried: T-rex, phoenix, NBminer, etc. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:22 AM PST Am I underestimating how much heat these generate? If I had 18-24 cards running with no ac during June would I run into thermal issues? The house gets to 86 degrees sometimes [link] [comments]
Pentium 4 for a GPU ethereum mining rig? Posted: 01 Jan 2021 10:58 AM PST Would an old Pentium 4 be good enough for a Gpu mining rig? I plan on using rx470~580 or gtx1070 to mine ethereum. Just to clarify, I already have an old Pentium 4 machine lying around and was thinking if I could repurpose it into a mining rig. If not, I will look into a more recent Celeron. Miner that has option of auto start/stop. Posted: 01 Jan 2021 09:21 AM PST I am looking for any mining software (preferably for windows) which has option of auto start/stop after some time. For example it mines bitcoin for 30 minutes and then stops for 10 minutes before mining again for 30 minutes. Is there any such mining software available in the market? [link] [comments] |
