Posted: 19 Jan 2021 05:18 AM PST After reading and testing for a stable OC on my RTX 3070, I've settled with 50% power, +1250 memory clock and -600 core clock and I'm getting 60MH/s at 119W on NiceHash. The core temp is 47 degrees after running for a few days, but I'm unsure about the memory temps. As far as I am aware, there are no memory temp sensors on my card so I'm not sure if it's safe to run for prolonged periods of time. Does anyone have any info? Thanks! Edit: reduced power limit further with no loss to hash rate or stability, updated numbers above. [link] [comments]

Using a Shoe Rack as Mining Rig Frame? Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:40 AM PST Hey guys, Looking to move current rig of my gaming build once I get new psu and was looking at using a shoe rack as the frame. I did not want to waste money on a rig frame as it's quite expensive now. What are peoples opinion on using a shoe rack? I'm more concerned with the type of material if that would cause any issue. Pool that gives individual worker details Posted: 19 Jan 2021 07:58 AM PST Hi there, I've been mining on miningpoolhub for a few weeks and I like everything about it. However, I have a bunch of different machines and would like to see how much each of them has mined (e.g. eth). Miningpoolhub just gives a chart detailing the average rate over a day but that's not good enough -- I'd like to have exact amounts mined or exact shares processes or exact average hash turnover over something like a week or month etc. Any recommendations for a pool that provides such information? Thanks [link] [comments]

Gibabyte 3060 TI acting strange in Hive OS Posted: 19 Jan 2021 07:16 AM PST Hello guys I have a bit of mystery for you I currently have a 5 card set up on the Biostar BTC + mobo, 4 of them of are EVGA 3060TIs, and the other is a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3060 Ti DirectX 12 GV-N306TGAMINGOC PRO, after installing the Gigabyte into the mobos full PCIE slot, I have had weird issues with it, I can't set the oc settings anywhere close to the other cards and I can't seem to get it above 56 hash without it spitting out a ton of invalids, but the weirdest thing is that I set the power limit to 130 but the card refuses to go below 140. Anyone have any idea what could be the cause of it? [link] [comments]
Need clarification: ASIC or GPU Rig? ETH 2.0 Posted: 19 Jan 2021 06:44 AM PST Hey guy, I'm AJ, I'm looking to a bit of advice before I hop into bed with the whole mining idea. I'm spending about $100k on Hardware for Mining and I heard ETH 2.0 was released/will be soon? Option 1: I can get about 7 - A10 Pro ETHMiner 750mh/s (Less space, less power consumption for it) Option 2: go with the GPU Rigs. (Way Over priced at this point) Outcome would mostly be similar other than energy consumption. Calculated roughly will get $174k/year with ASIC miners. But how would ETH 2.0 effect its future? Would I be just wasting money or something that'll be trash sooner or later (ASIC A10) or is the better option to go with GPU Rigs? Thank you to everyone that helps! [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Jan 2021 05:01 AM PST I really like how easy nicehash is. I am trying to convince myself that I should jump over to flexpool, but nicehash is so comforting with its little apps and how it tells you the profitability and how much you have earned so far. I tried NBMiner on flexpool and I mined for an hour and got nothing and I have the same hash rate. Should I switch? [link] [comments]
600W Power supply for two RTX3060Ti Posted: 19 Jan 2021 04:44 AM PST Hi there, I have a gaming rig that I'm using for mining 24/7.
My power supply is 600W. I'd like to know if it can handle TWO RTX 3060 Ti. I've used a power draw calculator and it says I need 622W, but I plan to run the GPUs at 65% TDP. What do you guys think? [link] [comments]
Recently joined the GPUming , looking for advice on a software wallet 2FA ? Posted: 19 Jan 2021 04:00 AM PST Hey. I recently started mining and was wondering a good software wallet. I started with MetaMask but after reading a few it seems 2FA it's safer. Looking for any advice or what you guys use beside hardware wallet. Cheers [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Jan 2021 02:29 AM PST I've been getting into mining with my gaming rig for the last 2 weeks with my 2080 super and was thinking of getting a 3080 just for mining. I've been using nicehash and octopus has been making more money than daggerhashimoto about 15 percent more for a week now, for reference i make 58Mh on octopus, 43Mh on Daggerhashimoto. Do you guys think if octopus can maintain this much profitability in case of ethereum boom? I'm just looking for advice. [link] [comments]
Rig won't launch with bricked GPU Posted: 19 Jan 2021 12:39 AM PST So i bricked one of my RX5700XTs while bios modding and i'm having a very odd thing happen when i try to power on my rig. If i remove the bricked card the rig works fine, however if the bricked card is present in the rig i get a display but its basically just black screen with a single "-" in the top left corner and nothing more. Motherboard is a B250 Mining Expert Edit: I solved this problem by moving the GPU to my personal computer and bios flashing it on there. I'm assuming it has something to do with how the b250 mining expert functions that stopped it from working with it. [link] [comments]

Looking for buying advice/opinions Posted: 18 Jan 2021 11:20 PM PST Hi all, I'm looking to make my first foray into mining as both a hobby and to earn a little passive income. I have the opportunity to buy a 6 gpu rig locally for $2500-3000 CAD and I'm looking for some advice and perhaps recommendations as to whether or not I should buy. Available info: Used for mining ETH exclusively 171MH/S
The rig ran for up to 4 months but is currently offline. My electricity costs for anyone interested are $0.09 CAD up to 1350 kw/h, and $0.13 CAD thereafter as a second tier. I reach tier 2 under typical use without mining so assumed rate is the higher of the two. I've been scoping the gpu market and by the sounds of it if I can get this many matched cards at one time I'd be a fool to pass it up. What would you do? Any advice for a noob considering this setup? Edit: I should mention, while this represents my first interest in mining, I am not new to crypto and have a sizeable position as a dedicated hodler. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jan 2021 10:52 PM PST Hi, I am pretty new and I only mine while I am not gaming. I mine ETH with an Gigabyte EAGLE 3080, using phoenixminer and ethermine pool. On GPU Z i have following. http://gpuz.techpowerup.com/21/01/19/tbe.png I always have a hash of 75/86MH/S, usually it sits around 80MH/S which looks normal for the card. Otherwise, I have a 5600x, good airflow (I have 65C while gaming Core Temp) and the case is a Be Quiet! Pure Base 500dx which is good for temps. [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 06:41 PM PST A call to action, skip to the end to save yourself from all the boring stuff What is a miner? A miner is someone that collects transactions and organizes them into blocks. A miner is responsible for ensuring the authenticity of information and updating the blockchain with the transaction. A miner is someone who secures the network by dedicating time and equipment to ensure that transactions are processed. Some would say miners are the backbone of a coin, but recently and throughout the history of Ethereum, miners are being treated like dirty dishrags, something to use and throw away. EIP 1559 is yet again proof that miners are last on the list when it comes to who gets a slice of the pie, look at some of the comments over at r/ethereum ''Whether the miners agree or disagree is pretty much irrelevant in the long run.'' ''Miners are easily replaceable, developers are not.'' ''Miners would be penniless if not for the users'' For those of you who arent aware, EIP 1559 will improve UX but at the same time remove the fees paid to miners. What does that mean? It will be easier for users to predict how much gas they will have to pay, which Is a good thing but why remove the fees paid to miners? Because the Dev team is surely and slowly getting rid of miners altogether. There is a proposition that would satisfy both parties but that's of no interest to the dev team http://timroughgarden.org/papers/eip1559.pdf. Why is it every time the coin reaches a certain amount the dev team finds a way to penalize miners? Plain and simple it's Greed, now that miners have minted a good amount of coins and that ETH 2.0 is deployed with the ETH dev team leading the charge, miners are no longer needed, Controversial changes are only suggested when the Coin hits an all-time high, when ETH was at 121USD and miners were minting at a loss there weren't any suggestions to reduce or increase miner rewards, it was exactly the opposite a couple of years ago, when they pushed back the ice age, miners were very important back then, ETH 2.0 wouldn't have been profitable for the users or the Dev team but the miners still minted coins, profit or loss, we believed in the project and a decentralized system. Now, all the decisions are made by a group of people, they reversed the DAO hack to feed their interest, and today they prove that greed for money is the main driving force behind their decision, money for the sake of accumulating money, there's barely any difference in the direction and the actions of big banks and the ETH team, they make the decisions miners foot the bill. They aim to please rich investors instead of the people who helped make Ethereum what it is today, miners have always been complacent, never asking for more only asking for what's fair, we asked to follow the original white paper statement of being ASIC resistant, that was denied. We asked to make ETH 2.0 easier to gain access to, of course that wasn't even considered or debated among the dev team under the guise that people would sabotage their own earning by being careless. My proposition to shake things up and reclaim our place is simple. Once a day starting on the 25th of January, stop mining ETH for a couple of hours, every day from 5 pm to 8 pm switch to another coin, I wish I could ask all of us to jump to another Coin for a whole week but i know that's impossible, maybe even what I'm asking now is too much for certain people but sooner or later miners will be disposed of and now is a chance to make our voices heard, we aren't able to band together in real life and overthrow corruption but lets at least try in the crypto space and show that the lesser class has the power and the solidarity to make our voices and opinions known. I'm open to any suggestions or comments to improve this plan and if we fail to execute well then i guess we're only proving once again that we would sell ourselves and our future for money and that we are no better than the greediest of people... Cryptocurrency for freedom. [link] [comments]
