Basically Carmen Segarra is a lawyer who was hired to help oversee Goldman Sachs bank and the NY Federal Reserve. The conversations she heard were so nuts that she started recording them. This story, much like what Edward Snowden exposed, was ignored by the media. But everyone needs to hear it. Segarra should be invited to a Bitcoin or crypto conference as a guest speaker. Posted: 07 Dec 2020 03:33 AM PST I know the energy is not technically wasted because it generates profit, often in much cleaner ways than many other industries but it still grates on me that all this power, a lot from greenhouse gas emitting sources, gets used for this gain. I've seen a few cool projects where people have turned mining rigs into heating for homes as radiators. Are there any projects that take this to another level, not in that they'll plant a tree for every number of hashes, but something that makes use of all the heat generated for other purposes. Or any (profitable) rigs that run on self-sustaining renewable energy? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Really Tempted to Put My Downpayment Savings into BTC Posted: 06 Dec 2020 09:43 PM PST Have a chunk of cash saved for a house downpayment but the market has been so hot this year, houses selling for over asking price within days, and we haven't found the right house yet so it feels harder to make a commitment as the timeline drags out. I feel very confident that BTC will hit 100k within a year, which would be a massive windfall for my family... but there is always that nagging doubt that something will go awry and BTC will crash. Notice I would not even consider putting the money into any other coin, as BTC seems the most sure fire option, even though other coins will have larger % gains. Mostly wanted to share my struggle and see if others are dealing with similar choices. Also feeling that if I don't make the commitment and BTC does go to 100k, I'll always know I should have done it. [link] [comments]  | ||
