ETH 2.0 Launch at risk due to lack of deposits - Current ETA is ~June 2021

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 09:30 AM PST

An average of 2,100 ETH per day has been deposited over the last three days. We need ~32,000 ETH per day from now till 11/24 to meet 12/1 launch date. At the current rate, we will NOT launch till June 2021

I'm not sure what actions are being taken to incentivize users, but the reputation of the platform can come under fire if the deposit pace does NOT pick up.

The Phase 0 voluntary exit is signed using the validator key and not the withdrawal key.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 05:40 PM PST

This problem is beginning to emerge. Third party staking services do not have the withdrawal key but they will still be able to do almost anything until the validator is slashed or leaks to 16 ETH without any way for the user to stop them since the voluntary exit request has to be signed with the validator -hot- key and not with the withdrawal key.

I think this is a poor design choice and it has been known for almost a year, the only way around this seems to be to request the third party staking services to give their users an already signed voluntary exit request for them to use if something bad happens but in the GitHub discussion linked above it was mentioned that such signed request would become invalid after a few epochs.

    Security & Defi smart contracts

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 09:45 AM PST

How would a non-technical person who's interested in Defi dapps be able to evaluate or trust the security of the code used in a defi smart contract (compound, aave, mkr, etc.)? I want to use these platforms and some of them are nice and user-friendly but ultimately I just can't evaluate the risk of losing my funds through a hack and if this were to happen I wouldn't even have anyone to turn to.

Ethereum 2.0: Why This Upgrade Matters

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 11:42 AM PST

Why no stakers and how to fix it.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 11:23 AM PST

This post is not about trading.

If you sold in 2013 peak, you would 10x your holding. You didn't.

If you sold in 2017 peak, you would 10x your holding. You didn't.

You still have a chance, probably the last one, to sell at 2021(22?) peak.

But if you stake, you will lose this last chance! If the prices peak before 1.5 is released, you can't sell! If you've lost your last chance to 10x your capital, mere 20% for staking is not much of consolation. That's why people are hesitant to stake.

Fortunately, it's fixable. The bull run will probably last for a year. It's long enough warning. Developers just have to prepare plan B: a two-way bridge or any other emergency escape hatch and release it when bull run is confirmed. If developers publicly commit to it, people won't be afraid to stake and 2.0 will start on time.
