People who took Adam Back's advice to "buy the dip" three years ago are only just now back to breakeven

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 10:42 PM PST

buy the dip. people learn drama is meaningless, next time it's [sic] market impact falls until it becomes background noise.

Since the time Adam tweeted this, an S&P 500 index fund would have returned 30%. BTC would need to be at ~$21,200 to be an equivalent "store of value."

Pro tip: don't take investment advice from cryptographers.

Edit: I'm sure in no time someone will arrive to talk about how much value BCH has lost since 2017. Point is, nobody here is giving investment advice.

Massive transaction fees in BTC and BTC-based apps

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 01:48 PM PST

    It's Fusion Friday!

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 06:21 AM PST

CashFusion makes Bitcoin Cash a privacy coin. Make sure to spin up Electron Cash 4.2.0 today and get that liquidity flowing! (The more people using CashFusion at once, the more Fusions happen, and the larger your "anonymity set".)

New to CashFusion? No problem, getting set up is pretty easy =)

First, download the Electron Cash desktop wallet. It's got CashFusion built in.

Set up your wallet (and be sure to write down your recovery phrase on a physical piece of paper), then activate CashFusion by clicking the icon in the lower right: Hundreds of thousands of BCH have already been Fused. https://i.imgur.com/DXEPLtf.png

Once it's activated, your wallet will start "fusing" the Bitcoin Cash it contains. Fusions happen over time as their own, separate transactions, and only cost you the network transactions fees (less than a penny). Each fusion transaction will include some of your coins*, so it will take multiple fusion transactions before all the coins in your wallet will be fused. (In the View menu, toggle the "coins tab" to see all of the coins in your wallet. In the "Label" field, fused coins will show CashFusion info.)

Currently, Electron Cash keeps fusing your coins indefinitely. The plan is to eventually allow you to stop fusing automatically after some number of fusions per coin but, until then, there's no downside to leaving it to fuse continuously besides paying the transaction fees. (Every fusion gives you that much more privacy, while also providing "liquidity" for other fusers.)

Electron Cash does not yet prevent you from spending unfused coins, nor does it prefer fused coins when spending, so it's probably best to leave it fusing and keep your whole wallet fused, and/or pick your coins manually from the Coins tab. If you want that coin-management taken care of for your (and/or you're not comfortable picking coins to spend from the Coins tab), you can always switch back to CashShuffle for now in the Optional Features window, accessible from the Tools menu.

Here's the CashFusion Telegram group where you are welcome to ask questions. (Just remember to be courteous!)

    Happy Fusing!! <3

*"Coins" are kind of a confusing concept when it comes to Bitcoin, but you can think of them just like discrete "bills" (or... "coins") in your wallet, but instead of coming in only certain sizes like $1, $5, $10, $20, etc, they can be any amount sent to you in a previous transaction, like 0.618 BCH, 0.000001 BCH, or 123.45679 BCH. (They can also be combined and split up. That happens in most transactions!)

Was any lesson actually learned here?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 09:09 AM PST

People have been shouting for ages that we needed to kick out Amaury & ABC, because they have been stifling BCH development.

But the community didn't do anything about it until Amaury's authoritarian power grab was sooo incredibly egregious and sooo incredibly over-the-top & exaggerated & villainous.

But most bad actors don't ever get to such exaggerated & hilarious levels of villainy. They perform their bad actions subtly and covertly, without a lot of noise or fanfare.

If the community was unable to take action when the bad behavior was more subtle, was any lesson really learned here? Will we be able to react in the future to such subtle threats?

Tether mafia and these marketing actors need people to hodl not for 18k, but for 100k, because people cashing out earlier would expose their fake money scheme and create a liquidity blackhole. The hodl meme is part of the scam. Stay woke!

Will there be an airdrop or not?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 07:45 AM PST

Things are about to get interesting. Whether there is an airdrop token is not up to ABC at this point. They published their software already. Whoever wants to mine the IFP chain will do so, and whoever wants to trade it will do so. That being said, ABC could increase the viability and price of the IFP token by promoting it as a separate minority coin -- something they've so far been seemingly unwilling to do. Without even ABC behind the IFP coin, it may not exist at all in any meaningful form. Thoughts?

Three years ago I asked about the DAA. Tomorrow it will finally be fixed

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 03:21 AM PST

"What is the current plan on fixing the EDA? I find it difficult to take Bitcoin Cash seriously until there is a long term proven solution to it."

It sadly took longer than needed and some damage has happened during that time. But now that it finally is getting fixed I feel Bitcoin Cash has at least a theorethical shot at being relevant again. All the best to everyone here.

S9 Resurrection: Higher Bitcoin Prices Allow Miners to Switch Outdated Mining Rigs Back On

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 06:53 PM PST

I just came here to say how amazing Bitcoin is

    Posted: 14 Nov 2020 01:15 AM PST

    Bitcoin totally changed my life.

Bitcoin is amazing. Other currencies like BCH and BSV seem to completely miss the point of bitcoin and I am wondering why anyone even bothers with those.

What are some of the things that bitcoin did to change your lives?

Mine was enabling me to get out of debt. I can't imagine how much deeper in debt I would be if I had kept all my BCH and BSV holdings and not converted them into Bitcoin.

Satoshi Nakomoto is the best! Thank you, Satoshi!

Other Bitcoin Cash communities outside of /r/btc & reddit

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 05:50 AM PST

I'm looking for alternatives to the community here on Reddit. With nearly half of all comments being trolls, it's gotten to the point that I want something new; a greater signal to noise ratio, and people who actually care about BCH.

How can myself and others that feel the same access to these other communities? I've heard of Telegrams and Slack channels. Please discuss & share other places where BCH discussion is taking place.
