Exploring the numbers behind the XRP Rich List

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 03:16 PM PDT

Hi all! I've come out of my cave to bless you will more walls of text. Something this sub is sorely lacking. I've decided to start posting my thoughts and exploration of the XRPL more publicly and have launched a blog for that purpose. You can check it out at ezpzxrp.com!

My intent is to cover a gap in the community conversation as there doesn't seem to be a lot of public developer resources at this point of time. In addition to publicly posting the code snippets I use to explore the ledger, I'll also continue to post deep dives into certain data bits of data I have questions about or aspects that I find interesting.

My first post in this format is a closer look at the XRP Rich List over at ledger.exposed. You can find the article here. TLDR:

    1. A large percentage of the wallets on the ledger are empty or "effectively empty." This changes the benchmark of the Rich List percentiles substantially. An XRP 1%er probably needs to be holding ~150k XRP.
    2. While wallets created in 2017 represent the largest cohort of empty wallets (read capitulation), years after are not far behind. Plenty of people have entered the game in 2018, 19, and 20 and subsequently emptied their wallet.

I'll be doing my best to respond here on Reddit, but also feel free to reach out on Twitter as that seems to be where most of the #XRPCommunity action is taking place. Hope you enjoy the new content!

    Use for xrp...

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 11:21 AM PDT

Is it a possible use case to implement xrp so that you can get cash out of an atm anywhere in the world. For example, when I go on vacation to Jamaica from the US I usually can't access an atm for USD. Couldn't xrp make that possible?

    Will the price ever move?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 12:34 PM PDT

I've held a few thousand XRP since June of 2017. I bought at 25 cents. It is still about 25 cents today. Aside from that pop to ~$3 in December of 2017, it has traded from 25 cents to 30 cents the whole time. Will the price ever bounce again? When will the $586 meme hit?
